Title: IMF: Obama regime lacks “credible strategy” to stop mounting public debt crisis
Post by: Fury on April 13, 2011, 09:05:43 AM
(FT) — The US lacks a “credible strategy” to stabilise its mounting public debt posing a small but significant risk of a new global economic crisis, says the International Monetary Fund.

In an unusually stern rebuke to its largest shareholder, the IMF said the US was the only advanced economy to be increasing its underlying budget deficit in 2011 at a time when its economy was growing fast enough to reduce borrowing.

To meet the 2010 pledge by the Group of 20 countries for all advanced economies — except Japan — to halve their deficits by 2013, the US would need to implement tougher austerity measures than in any two-year period since records began in 1960, the IMF said. In its twice-yearly Fiscal Monitor, the IMF added that on its current plans the US would join Japan as the only country with rising public debt in 2016, creating a risk for the global economy.

Carlo Cottarelli, head of fiscal affairs at the Fund, said: “It is a risk that if it materialises would have very important consequences . . . for the rest of the world. So it is important that the US undertakes fiscal adjustment in a way sooner rather than later.”

Come on leftist pseudo-experts, tell us again how we need to spend more. You must be onto something that the IMF and the rest of the world aren't knowledge about.

Its really comical at this point.   I speak to business people, probably at a minumum 12-30 daily who laugh at obama and out him on the same level at a HS sophomore with his garbage.

I wonder if the pseudo-experts will take the IMF to task in this thread?

I was just watching CNN and they talked about the problem with entitlements, the aging boomers, etc...However, the mainstream media never mentions that stopping the wars will save lots of money we don't have.

Where in about 10 wars now.. ;D

Libya is working well. A complete stalemate and the only reason it's even that is due to US and NATO firepower.

You really can't make this up if you tried BF!

Honestly - BF - if you tried to formulate a worse plan than bama has presented - could you have done that?

I think the average American could close their eyes, throw a dart at a list of random plans, pick the one that it lands on, and still come up with a better solution than what the God-King and his cronies have come up.

The only saving grace in this is that Power's ridiculous "r2p" junk is going to go down in flames as a result of this Libya fiasco.  8)
