ST. PETERSBURG — A 15-year-old boy who used a candle to look underneath a bed for his dog started a blaze that destroyed the home and killed the dog, authorities said.
Fire officials said the candle caught the bed on fire. The fire spread and destroyed the house, said St. Petersburg Fire Rescue Lt. Joel Granata.
The boy suffered minor smoke inhalation while trying to fight the fire with a garden hose and was taken to All Children's Hospital, Granata said. The dog was found dead in the bedroom where the boy was looking. No one else was injured.
Two adults and four kids were left homeless after the fire at 4734 Eighth Ave. S. The fire was reported about 9:07 p.m. and was extinguished shortly after 9:30 p.m., Granata said.
The American Red Cross was assisting those affected by the fire, he said.

Yeah, I'm an ass on this one, I agree. This was a coin flip on whether I should post . On the one hand, I really do hate the fact that the dog was killed while the idiot boy was allowed to live, but at the same time, even though it's very dark humor, this was the first time I've ever laughed at someone burning their house down.

haha yes, I also had a good laugh
humour can be an effective way to cope with life's tragedies and hardships - no sense in brooding all day and wearing mascara
