Jay and his crew of good guys and gals did one hell of a great job in the given past four months and this event will be one of the major contests along with the likes of Jon Linsey. Steve Karr and a couple of others who do great promotional work on behalf of the NPC out here in the western region of the USA.
Due to weekend family visitors I was only able to attend the Prejudging (Saturday morning, 23 April) but I did manage to shoot some non-pro photos which may be of interest to you bodybuilding critics.
I have a good idea who might have won it but as of this morning, I have not heard the official results. Maybe one of you might be able to supply those details before I find the time to do so myself.
Before I run the photos I offer the following.....
Jay has some damn good associates helping him and I can guarantee you that with their continued help, this show is going to be one of the top NPC events in the USA.
The contest was held at the Las Vegas Red Rock Hotel Casino which is a damn impressive location to say the least. In my humble opinion it's even better than the Mandalay Bay where the Olympia used to be held. (My only adverse comment about that location is that the hotel does not offer stadium type seating which will most likely be required when this show becomes a major attraction.
I heard that there were over 130 contestants entered.
I gotta admit that the ladies were exceptionally good but the men were somewhat average. That may be due to fact that this initial event was not an NPC Qualifier but should be next year.
Only one lady (traied b y Diana Dennis) entered the bodybuilding contest and only two teens enterd the teen division. Both teens have great potential to make a name for themselves within the next few years if they stay with it.
This was the first time I saw the new Men's Physique Division event and I still believe that the top guys who win these contests should have a decent chance of getting supplement contracts due to the fact that the top contenders in this division are actually what most dudes are training to look like.
I say "top contenders" because a good number of these contenders simply looked like the average GetBigger.
And it was noticeable that the judges "overlooked" one of the contenders who was exceptionally shreaded. In a case such as this, I think that the judges are going to have difficulty differentiating between bodybuilders and physique guys ... and the guy who should win but looks too much like a natural bodybuilder will suffer as a result.
GetBig's very own Kevin Perod just won the Physique Division title in Branch's contest in Texas and should be the perfect "model" of what the PHYSIQUE DIVISION judging table should be looking for.
I took a shit-load of photos of the lady contenders but now I gotta run them all through Photoshop to reduce the file size so that I can post them here.
In the meantime here are some of the shots I shot with my cheapest Kodak throwaway.
Congrats to Jay and his crew for a job well done. I hope that the evening event went just as well.

240, thanks! Funny cause I always referred to Jello and Ice Cream as DESERT back when we had to write down what we wanted while in a rain filled foxhole.
The teen event had two contenders and neither of these photos do them justice. Maybe it's because neither photo shows the heart and dedication that these two "kids" put into it their noticeable attempt to look there best within a matter of 40 seconds or so.
And the parents made it known that. " That's my son up there!!"
Parents are proud individuals when their kids accomplish the 'impossible".
Me!? I was simply "IMPOSSIBLE" and was shipped off to some offensive country with a rifle in my hand.

I'm looking at these posted pictures for the first time and have to tell you that none of these guys looked like or had that gun-metal-gold coloring.
I'm surprised you GetBiggers have not blasted me and sent me to hell on the nearest freight train for fucken up with the Photoshop coloring button.
But I'm not gonna try to fix 'em again. (Just send me that train schedule and a round trip ticket. I'll most likely see most of you there anyway.)

I think that there were only one of two ladies at the judging table but I do think that the majority of the judges should be females for the Men's Physique Division event and that the final award should go to the best looking contender (face and body) as per their decision.
If men make that decision ... it could subconsciously turn into a jealousy battle ... such as often shown here on this GetBig Board.
Therefore I propose that the Physique Division Judging Panel consist of more females than males and possibly even ..... an all female judging panel.
I think a female is more comfortable with judging a male's "pretty face" than a male judge and it appears to me that this new division will consist of winners who have good looking, movie star looks .... but with the body to go with the face.
Any arguments here?

IRON, I never pay attention to how hot or cold it is but it was sunny and the Red Rock Pool area was packed so I assume it was in the high 70's / low 80's.
This is the perfect weather season for LV and all the pools have opened up but it's soon gonna be 100 to 115 plus when it's even too damn hot to sit in any pool for any more time than you can cook a hard boiled egg.

I just did the OC Classic... and i figured, it was same judges as bb'ing and physique... I also read on a blog somewhere, others out there want women to judge the physique.

Men's Physique Division shots ....
Sure ain't bodybuilding and none of the following physique contestants are well known enough to be featured here but these shots should encourage some Getbiggers to diet down for a few weeks, buy a pair of surfer's shorts, and enter a contest.
I could not stay until the conclusion but it appeared that there were about 20 contestants in this event whose friends and families turned out in force to encourage them on.
One ultra ripped guy appeared to be overlooked during the call-outs which seems to mean that too much muscle is a detriment.
So this event might be ideal for most GetBiggers who would like to show their stuff and impress the ladies.
But I still think that the judging panel shoud be predominately female.

One last comment .....
It was very evident that the Physique contest guys were having a great time and enjoying themselves. None appeared to be too concerned about how they'd place, but were prepared to accept the well known "$10 plastic trophy" which in this case was the well respected and most appreciated .... Excalibur Sword.
It appears to me that this Men's Physique Division will be a success and a major supplement income opportunity for the overall winners.
Time will tell.

None appeared to be too concerned about how they'd place, but were prepared to accept the well known "$10 plastic trophy" which in this case was the well respected and most appreciated .... Excalibur Sword.
It appears to me that this Men's Physique Division will be a success and a major supplement income opportunity for the overall winners.
