my bad, they're not a nuke power. They may or may not have them, we've been trying to get them to sign agreements, and we're sure not gonna call them ourt like we do iran for their program.
They do have a lot of long range missiles. Have had them from china for 20 years.

no, i meant 20+ years ago, they attained long-range capacity to hit anyone in their region - the intermediate range ones. It's been a huge deterrant from anyone messing with them. So at the very least, they have 1980s medium range. My best *guess* is that they've gotten a little better since then ;)
And my best guess is that if the US decides to try to dictate world energy prices - despite our sagging currency - the saudis and everyone else find some nukes real fast to strap on those birds. Of course, without saudi oil to feed our Humvees, I'm not sure we could invade at all... :(

let's face it - $4 gas is a lot cheaper than europe. Our cars are badass. we're printing money and it's STILL only $4 a gallon. Marketwise - and i know repubs love capitalism - who the hell is trump to tell any capitalist nation where to set prices?
Isn't price-setting, and telling someoen they can't raise prices for a good they sell, along the lines or socialism or communism?

Dude, seriously? The shit the Saudi's get from us or any other country is the stripped down version. It doesn't have all the advanced toys, you don't want them using it against you at some point.

OPEC is a cartel, they manipulate price all the time, beside they aren't capitalist.

Capitalism.org claims the only negative monopoly is when the govt does it. When a monopoly is formed for 'irrational political policies' it is evil.
OPEC is formed for profit - which under capitalist rules is the one and only reason for existence, and that no profit is too high.

It kinda depends on how you look at it, the US provides protection to Saudi from the other assholes in the region at our own cost, there for to expect them to give us a price break only makes good sense.

if you're in the USA, you're okay with price-fixing and subsidies because it keeps our gas prices low. But you can't say "I'm 100% capitalist!". You have to say "I'm normally capitalist, but in this case, I support other groups taking less profits to allow me to sustain an unsustainable existence which the market doesn't allow".
IF IF IF Russia, Iran, and China were making threats - in order to force the US and Canada to lower the prices of maple syrup we were exporting - we'd tell them to piss off. This is difference, cause its OUR prices we want to keep low :)

Like everything else America is not pure capitalism, just like we are not a pure democracy. If America was pure capitalism there would be no subsidies, there would be no anti-trust act, and monopolies would fill the land. As usual you take everything to the extreme, to try to make some point that only you know ::)
Oil is a natural resource, more over it is a matter of national security to just about every nation on earth. Maple syrup is not.
Do I have a problem telling the Saudi to quit fucking with price and supply? No, just because their great, great, great, great, great grandfather happened to pitch his tent on an oil field. Hell they wouldn't even have the know how to get the oil out of the ground if not for the innovations from the west.

We'd laugh them out the door. We'd blow snot rockets laughing. It would be a joke. THEN, when they threatened military actions, or sanctions, to force us to "lower the f*cking price of food", we'd get pissed. Right?

I'm agreeing with Trump - if there is a way to force opec to lower prices - sanctions or even threat of military force - I'm all for it. however, if no US president has been able to do it, I doubt a businessman screaming about college transcripts will be able to do it.
But this is a smart move on his part to get in the headlines for something not associated with obama records. cause obama will let trump hammer the college issue for 6 weeks, then BOOM release those. And everyone will love a second owning on trump.
However, I think only 80 IQ morons will believe Trump has any ability to control what OPEC does. Everyone might kiss his ass in the boardroom because he has power to fire them from a TV show. In the real world, Trump doesn't have that power. He would be asked to leave the G20 if he acted like that, then they'd vote 19-0 to dump the dollar ;)

The first thing we need to do is clean up our own house, strengthen the dollar and cut spending. That in itself would have a significant impact on oil prices.
