Should have never left Jon Chaimburg. He wasn't as strong and definately not as explosive.

I read that he gained about 5 pounds of lean muscle just from training like an Olympic Weight Lifter and Olympic Gymnast.  Chaimberg(sp?) seems way too complex and I'll bet you anything GSP just wanted some simple lifting routines.

Maybe the extra muscle he's gain slowed him down.

If that's the case he took a step backwards because he didn't exactly dominate this fight like he usually does. BTW. You can't gain that much lean mass by olympic lifting...especially in that short of time. Needs to go back to Jon and fix what he lost!

agreed, he even looked disappointed w/ himself

Not vintage GSP, but I had him winning 5-0.

Shields completed no takedowns, no sub attempts, was knocked down three times and looked like he didn't belong in the cage with him.

Take away the fact that GSP was blind in one eye, and the fight probably doesn't go the distance.

However, I do agree that GSP is becoming way too cautious. Shields doesn't belong in the same arena as GSP and there is no excuse why that fight went 5 rounds.

You're right about that, but I don't think we can really draw a conclusion that quickly.

I think he left Chaimberg before the Hardy fight which was a year ago I think.

George, I didn't have 5-0 but you're right about him him being cautious, I think it was because 1. Shields hasn't lost since 05' and 2. Shields is GREAT on the ground and as good as a wrestler GSP is, Shield might have been too much risking a submission.

Looks like you need to spend less time watching "men" fight for o reason whatsoever and more on getting ready for a stage event.

What do you say, "Joe" ?

Agreed, but what round did you have Shields winning? Like Rogan said it was Koscheck part two minus the broken orbital bone. Sheilds landed 3 power shots the entire fight and took about 20.

It was fairly obvious that he wasn't fighting well because he was worried about the eye injury.  It's not like breaking a hand or something.  You fuck your eye up badly, it's for life.  I know any getbigger would just keep right on attacking in the face of an injury that could leave you blind, but some people are concerned with things like that.

Most getbiggers would have flown to Canada on their private jet, walked right by security without buying a ticket, torn off their tap out tank top, walked right into the cage midfight without any interference and beaten both Sheilds and GSP unconscious. Afterward, they would have departed with the  cageside UFC ring girls and immediately hopped in a limo to head to the nearest hardcore gym for a shoulder and bicep workout.

Horrible fight.

It was pretty bad, but GSP couldn't see out of his left eye after the 2nd round. I give him props for winning the fight with one eye.

GSP's fight are always the most fucking boring of the events anyway

the fight with the skinny mexican who kept kicking the other ugly dude, 2 fights before GSP's

now that was entertaining

I don't know jack shit about UFC tho, just commenting on what fight was the most fun to watch

he was probably ~175 lbs at 7% in the ring and his torso would compare quite favorably with yours - especially since he does not care to develop his legs etc.  at one point I thought he had some gay-ass tatts on his back, but then I realized it was the shadows from his traps.
