One of my favorite bodybuilders ever. Even though his structure is not perfect - short torso - his aesthetics and muscular balance were incredible. Some say he looked his best at the 1987 Mr.World when he won his pro card, but I think he looked his best truly at the 1990 Mr.Olympia. He deserved better than his placing at that show.

Definitely deserved better placings than he got. Extremely aesthetic. He had a body to emulate, even if he was extremely short. Wonder if he'd have done better if he was 5 inches taller?

I was at the 90 Olympia. Benfatto was a very graceful poser. He compete at 170lbs, we will never see that again. Shawn Ray didn't appear to be much more than 190. Drug testing really took a toll on size. Wonder what today's Pros would look like with a somewhat legitimate drug test?

Epic fucking physique for a lil manlet. Throw that structure on a 5'10 or 6 foot guy and now we are talking
-
One of the most epic jawlines I have ever seen. Guys have no clue how to diet nowadays.

Great physique.

A fantastic physique with superb aesthetics! Other than the faggoty walk at the beginning, his posing was excellent. This is what a bodybuilder should look like. Something carefully crafted by hard work over time as opposed to the tripe being foisted upon us today that is nothing more than a pile of shit with even more shit slapped onto it. FTN.

I have seen bigger juniors, this guy is a walking drug shoppe.Just ask the Customs in a few countries.

Except he's got that "gut" thing that everyone's been ranting about lately goin' on a bit there baby...

I must point out that balance and aesthetics, although not mutually exclusive, are not the same. You can have a balanced physique that is not aesthetic, like Ruhl's or Kai Green's, but seldom will an aesthetic physique not be balanced. Being balanced immediately makes a physique more balanced than if it weren't, even if the bodybuilder has square muscles, wide hips and a bad structure.
What makes Benfatto's physique so special is that it was both balanced and aesthetic. His muscles were all in proportion to one another, symmetrical, and they had a beautiful round shape. His skeletal structure was also good, with the clavicles wide enough for the hips. The only fault in Benfatto's physique was that his torso was a little short, but this is not important.

Well, this thread is about the 1990 Mr.Olympia, and he didn't have any pec tears back then.

Are you sure that's 1990 ? not circa 1993-1995 ?

I had the pleasure of meeting Francis at World Gym Venice around 1995 or so. Humble, down to earth guy. If he had a longer torso, he'd be damn near perfect physiquewise.

He was wearing black trunks in 1990, so I think it is. But you could certainly be right.
