Johnny Fuller totally dominated the 1980 World Amateur Champiosnhips. He was the first bodybuilder to bring the level of conditioning that Munzer would only bring some 15 years latter. His density was crazy. I particularly liked Fuller because he had a thick torso which gave him a powerful powerful look. Blacks usually have small torsos, but johnny had a really big one. This, when combined with the round muscle bellies that blacks usually have, made his physique something very special. He had a perfect balance of power and aesthetics and he came super hard. These are all pics from the 1980 World Amateur Championships when he earned his pro card. The physiques of today are not better than what we see here.

His only noticeable bodypart is his retarded midsection. A mediocre at best guy with good conditioning. Kinda looks like shit really.

This is what bodybuilding is about. When I think bodybuilding, I envision something like this and not somethins like Branch Warren and Kai Green. :-\

Yeah, his chest looks smallish, looks like he was sewn together...he has a smallish midsection...it's just that his obliques protrude out and he has roid gut

Do you honestly think that, say, Branch Warren, Kai Green or the current Mr.Olympia as a matter of fact looks better than him ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

Fuller had a weird look in his eyes..
-
Johnny used to do 32 sets of 32 reps and do his cardio with layers of trash bags wrapped around his body.
Diet was weird too.
-
Is the guy still alive?
-
He said he did ten sets of 32 reps per exercise with sixty sets per muscle but I think was kidding.
Those pics are from several contests not just 1980. He didn't even tear his pec until 1983.

You know the cause of death?
Johnny Fuller, who competed extensively in the '70s and '80s, died on January 20 in Bournemouth, England, after a long battle with leukemia. He was 62. Born in the Caribbean, but raised in England, Johnny was renowned for his vascularity and hardness. He gained his pro card by winning the light-heavyweight division at the 1980 IFBB World Amateur Championships and went on to compete in four Mr. Olympia contests, where his best showings were eighth in 1981 and 1983.
In his last contest, the 1987 World Pro Championships, he placed 13th. Despite carrying oodles of muscle, he was very flexible and very fit. Before entering bodybuilding, he boxed professionally and, ran in at least one marathon. He was a great believer in organ meats.
Johnny was a guru before the term became fashionable. He always made a point of helping out young competitors with his nutrition and training knowledge, and there was no charge.

Yep. Greg Zulak in his old Q&A in MuscleMag said that Fuller was the craziest and hardest training pro ever, not only in training but also in diet. He would do something like 80 sets per bodypart each set over 30 reps to failure, taking 3 times as long in the negative portion than in the positive, pausing in the middle of concentric contraction for several seconds, and he would still do heavy singles and doubles on squats and deads! This all resulted in unbelievable muscle density, but it took it's toll in the form of injuries. His diet was also crazy. He would eat only meat for several days, then eat only bread and potatoes for several days, and so forth. There was no logic in doing this, but he believed that by tricking the body you could fool it into keeping muscle whilst losing fat.
