Title: Track coach fired on spot for "allowing" males to run shirtless?
Post by: Tom on May 04, 2011, 04:24:29 PM
just read that a high school track coach in a town 25 miles outside of boston was fired ON THE SPOT by the assistant principal because the boys on the team were having practice shirtless and the coach had been warned before for the coach NOT to allow this to happen?

are you kidding me? when i first read this i thought it was some high school coach of a girl's track team that were in sport bras or something like that. or you would have thought the coach TOLD the boys to go shirtless or they were shirtless in a class or something! geez,....

track practice, uh, i think you get sweaty don't you and it's after school hours, so what is the big fricking deal, i remember years ago when i was in high school and ran cross country and what not we would be shirtless during practice if it was hot enough and/or we were sweaty enough, and nothing was ever mentioned, in fact the thought never even crossed anyone's mind.

Stupid rule, BUT, if he was warned....then he has to live with the consequences.

Totally ridiculous.

The sort of "society" where every male adult is suspected of being a pedophile just because they supervise minors. All because of the actions of a perverted few.  :-\

Suspicion and rules have to change - this seems like a downhill road.
I remember an ice skating coach from the states telling me that he has to use a stick when coaching females - to prevent getting sued for harassing them!

Who gives a fuck if they can't take their shirts off.

The issue is that the stupid coach didn't listen to his boss and got fired.

Bogus. Coach Basile has been letting his athletes train bottomless for years and has never had a problem...his "gym" is also his basement, though.

It was rock hard too.

It's a regression...men were not allowed to be "topless"  until the late 1930's...

As long as he isn't a pedo what difference would it make? Whenever I train teams on a campus they make me and my assistants go through a 'live scan" process for a back ground check and fingerprints. Don't know if this is what they do in other states but in cali, it's mandatory.

To me and you it probably doesn't make a difference. However, If he was a creepy pervert homo who kept telling the kids to "take their shirt off etc" I could understand why he may have gotten fired.

from what i understand, the coach was told beforehand the boy/young men could not go shirtless, however, the coach never told them to go shirtless, the boys just did it themselves, of course, the coach could have told them to put their shirts back on and that it's a rule, etcetera, i guess the bigger question is WHY IT WAS A RULE? and if it just track athletes or any male athletes in all the other sports too!

speaking of peds and what not, i do remember many many years ago when i was in high school on the track team, and all the spring sports track, baseball, tennis would have practices after school and of course we would get cleaned up, the baseball coach would take showers with his players! maybe it's just me, but i thought then and now that is messed up!

maybe he thought "hey, we're all guys here" but i'm sorry i wouldn't want any coach to see my junk or see his junk, he was also a math teacher. i just believe there is a authority issue, a age/respect issue, and a crossing of the line in this regard. it's one thing to be let's say a professional baseball coach with full grown baseball players, you know their all in the how should i say same boat with age, maturity and what not. i'm sure this could never ever happen now or he would have been fired or something would have happened.

Well what about those crazy seventies when the boys used to swim nude?  The reasoning behind this was no child was unprepared for class. I remember teachers that would spank boys with a paddle and girls with their hand.  Crazy times.

STAY POSITIVE!!!!!!!!!!
