It was pretty good ! 8)
I went thinking it would be the shittiest movie ever and I enjoyed it !

I enjoyed it. Was way better than I expected, The destroyer and the gate keeper were awesome I thought.
I Went to see it for a work outing with our art department. Thor's physique is clearly quite the pussy magnet -the 30 or so chicks I work with were all sliding off their seats, saying how hot he was and would without doubt sleep with him etc...
Was quite funny all the guys were all furiously googling his diet and workout afterwards back at work & then all arguing saying like "yeah well he definitely juiced it for the role and used those "growth hormones" or "I could achieve that too if I got paid millions, had a full time dietitian with a personal trainer" ::)
Was like a GetBig thread but in reality ;D

the thor guy has some major pussy pulling build (no homo) :-*
whats his stack?

The joys of narrow shoulders with low bodyfat. Lucky bastard.
Cycle not much, I see some bloat so prolly test/gh not much else.
-
going to see THOR today, it's received good to near great reviews so far so i can't wait. in regard to hemsworth's physique, if you google his workout ( yeah, i did lol!) you will see that supposedly hemsworth just did alot of bodyweight exercises, and very little actual lifting weights exercises, core stuff and so on.
don't know if this is true, or not, i was surprised that he could just do only 5/6 exercises and build up that much regardless if his diet was spot on.
but then again, his physique isn't really bodybuilderish, more athlete/fitness model with a bit of thickness.
-
oh he wasn't big at all in the movie, had a good shape for a tall guy.
good beach physique, women were wetting their panties for sure B)

they should have given the role to gunther or triple h at least. this guy isn't very convincing as a superhero.

Second one is amazing though! Just imagine that body lying next to you in bed. Minimum 4x per day splashing right there. I don't see how any man could not.

saw it today and i enjoyed it, good popcorn movie, great special effects, great looking asgard and the other realms, etcetera. hemsworth did a good job i thought.....
in regard to hemsworth's physique a chubby woman behind me made a loud "wheww" noise when she saw him onscreen shirtless, hmm, how did that make her boyfriend/husband another chubby think i wonder?
a few things in the movie didn't make sense to me, like for instance i thought asgard was like mt.olympus in greek mythology in that only gods would live there, but in the film you see crowds of "subjects/normal people" there? are they not considered Gods in that asgard realm and therefore should not be with the normal masses or are they seen as just royalty, not GOD LIKE even though they are?
there is a scene where thor and his comrades on horseback go on the bridge (which looked cool by the way) on their way to the frost giants world, and i''m thinking "why are they riding horses at all, thor can fly with his hammer and not sure about the others if they have the power of flight?
loki was born a frost giant but became more Asgardian due to odin's power? is this how the comic book is about loki's origins?
i thought the people on earth the scientists and portman's character should have been more stunned than they were realizing that there are people in outer space/other realms and the Gods of norse mythology are real indeed and in front of them on earth.
overall a solid comic book movie which is saying something since the whole norse mythology and it's dialogue and talk of other realms, the odin sleep, the frost giants, and what not could have been very hard to adapted to a movie and that wouldn't be over people's head and too complicated for them, unlike a simple story like spiderman and superman.
so far it's been getting very good reviews, i would give it a solid two thumbs and a grade of B myself.
-

Agreed. I still remember watching Avatar in 3d, what an experience that was. The movie in 2d would be boring and a waste of money.
-
damn and i thought it was just me, i saw it in 3d and damn i had the worst headache, i took the glasses off when there was no action scenes and put them on during the action scenes, still hated watching it in 3d, will never go to a movie again in 3d!
not sure why some people experience headaches like myself and others are fine?

Having spent part of my childhood reading Greek, Roman and Norse myths I appreciate them for what they are, i.e., not only entertaining, but more often than not, instructive. Not always true, but there are lessons to be learned in many of the stores of the aforementioned peoples. And yes my young friend, I am aware that this film is based loosely upon a comic book which in turn is based loosely upon Norse mythology.

rined movie
thor who's strength
and i quote from wikepedia
Thor is physically the strongest of the Asgardians,[38][133][134][135][136][137] even able to match (and sometimes surpass) the strength of The Incredible Hulk.[volume
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thor_%28Marvel_Comics%29
but we see in the movies thor punching soldiers full force and they are just stunned..... and we see thor been knocked out by a girl in a tazer....
garbage...
should be bought on pirate dvd
90% superhero movies are garbage especially for people who have read comics
-
Saw this movie tonight in 3D. It was a good movie. Special effects were good.

Its pretty good Meso.
Thor, when he gets tazed and is hitting humans, has had ALL of his powers/strength stripped of him, by Odin, because he threw attacked the Frost giants and accidently almost started a war in a fit of rage. Odin stripped him of his powers and sent him to earth to teach him about selflessness and being a good leader.
When he HAS his power, they did a good job of really capturing the full... EPICNESS of his strength. Its rediculous. The man is almost unstopabble.
So it wasnt quite as bad.
Lots better than I imagined, and the actor is kind of a fucing BAMF actually.
Id suggest you set aside your prejudice and go see it. Its worth the money.
-
Ok man I was really judging it on the few clips I saw.... I stand corrected
Based on what you said I will go and see it...
Cant be as bad as some of the spider man movies and xmen
I'll see it this weekend
-
I saw it in 3D on the Imax screen which was visually impressive but I was not impressed by the story and actually felt somewhat bored mid way through the movie.
I never did read a Thor comic book so I can't say if Hemsworth did a good job or not but it appeared that he was an impressive super-hero, more so than other actors who act in Super Hero flicks.
It has to make something like $85,000,000 this opening weekend to beat Universal's Fast Five record and I hope it happens.
Something about 3D ..... Once you're about 10 minutes into any 3D movie, you seem to lose that 3D experience, but the IMAX screen and sound-track really add to the enjoyment of any big screen presentation all the way through the end.
I actually can't recall any scene in this THOR movie that made great use of the 3D camera. Nothing seemed to jump off that screen to hit me in the nose.
I did not like this movie. I hate to say that though.
What was the final scene that was added at the conclusion of the final credits? We left before it rolled.

you know at one time, Flex Wheeler was going to do a "Black Hercules" role---wonder what happened to that...
-
Just a few thought on the film. The 3D conversion was done in post production which is why it looked afwul ie. Clash of The Titans. Films like Avatar or the last Resident Evil film actually shot with 3D cameras can look great. The problem with post conversions is that certain elements get the 3D traetment and certain don't so the onscreen image can look unnatural and jarring.
Anyway I thought Hemsworth was quite good. Anthony Hopkins mostly resisted any over the top hamming it up and the supporting players were solid. Goddamn Jaimie Alexander is smoking hot!!! I think she is my new favorite hot actress.
-
What happened to action movie stars with real muscle? The Brad Pitt clone in Thor was OK in the role, but I'd rather watch guys whose bodies are better than mine. No homo etc. Vin Diesel looked like a complete sack of shit in Fast 5.
-

;D Yeah, I think someone here said the working title was "Welfarecles". ;) Given Eddie Murphy's penchant for multiple role playing in films perhaps he could costar as an overweight and overbearing Biggie Zeus. The film could be given the title "Afrocletus" or some such homage to one of his characters from "The Nutty Professor" remake.
-
Supposedly they had to remake his suit as he showed up 30lbs heavier than expected

I agree about it getting slow in the middle. Was definitely draggy there for a bit. But the fight scenes were very good and the graphics were pretty awesome.
Agreed on the 3D, also. Was useless, as usual.
The clip after the credits had Stellan Skarsgard's character going down into some facility where he met Nick Fury and Fury showed him the cosmic cube. Loki was also in the glass and looked to be controlling Skarsgard's character.
-
I must say what a great time to be a Thor fan!!!
The single greatest scene I've ever seen in a movie was when Thor whirled Mjonir over his head and crashed it down making an earthquake was breathtaking!!! I had tears in my eyes!!!
When Thor gets his power back and kicks the Destroyers butt!!! So unbelievable!!!!
And Stan Lee's appearance was the best one he ever did!! I was cracking up!! It was priceless!!
AWESOME!!!!

I used to work for Dreyer's Ice Cream, and we distributed those things everywhere. At one point, I moved to a different depot and they had a bunker full of them to take home 1-2 a day if you wanted. I had some every few days, but one guy told me that he gained 30lbs on them one summer just by eating one per day. While I think that wasn't all he was eating, I know firsthand those Tollhouse sandwiches are calorie BOMBS.
Now I distribute Mrs. Fields sandwiches...and since I've had both I think the Fields are better. However, I am biased with that decision. :D

Indie-Lad, at what part did Stan Lee appear in THOR? I usually notice those kind of shots immediately .... but this one escaped me.
Some recently new movie makers have included 'back-drop-cookies' to the backdrops of their films which are rarely noticeable to movie fans outside of the motion picture industry or possibly even by those who are not working on that particular production.
To be honest with ya, I have never noticed one of those 'cookies' even though I have been advised of its inclusion in a number of major productions.
They are meant to be hidden in plain sight .... and they do a damn good job.
Has anyone here ever noticed a movie 'cookie'?

Stan Lee was driving the truck that they were trying to pull Mjolnir out of the ground with before the government got there.
You know, the truck that the bed ripped off of.
Stan lee makes an apperance in almost all of his movies.
Iron man, Hulk, Thor, etc.

Yeah....
No.
This has to be the funniest post Ive seen in quite a while though. Lol.
I honestly think the guy they got to play him was about perfect, given that they probably isnt a bodybuilder on the planet that could act, let alone have the right proportions to pull off a God-Warrior.
The dude they got was fucking perfect IMHO, pulled off the attitude, the language, carried himself properly (dont know how to describe it... carried himself with a dignified yet epic/godlike swagger of someone who knows he can whoop everyone's ass with ease, but isnt really a dick about it and carries everyones respect.)
Casting was dead nuts IMHO.

The original story... yes... but Thor has been separated from Donald Blake for a long time now... He was merged with Eric Masterson briefly, and then sent to the Underworld with Mephisto, when Eric Masterson actually had Thor's power and his own mind.
I do not believe Thor has been merged since then.

UPDATE: THOR Sequel Slated For 2013; Kenneth Branagh NOT Returning To Direct!
Recent reports reveal that Marvel and Disney are not only moving forward with a sequel to their praised-THOR film, but doing so without it's original director, Kenneth Branagh!
It's been almost two months since Marvel & Kenneth Branagh's praised-THOR movie hit theaters, grossing $437 million worldwide. And with the Marvel Studios' president of production, Kevin Fiege, revealing last month that a sequel had only been discussed, Deadline has surprisingly revealed it's intended release, but that's not all they've revealed. It seems Iron Man 3 won't be the only 2013 sequel with a new director.
Marvel Studios is making a full commitment to Thor 2, with Chris Hemsworth reprising his role as the title hero. Marvel will need to hire a director for that film because, I've learned, Kenneth Branagh won't be returning as helmer. His exit was "mutual and amicable," I'm told. That means a big job is out there that a lot of directors and their agents will be chasing over the upcoming holiday. Disney will today finalize a release date for Thor 2, which will be released sometime in the summer, 2013. Variety reports it'll release July 26!
The site further states that Branagh will most likely be involved in some "producing capacity." Regarding who the God Of Thunder will face off with this time around, there were more rumors last month suggesting that The Enchantress and The Executioner were in contention. What do you think?
Anyhow, with Iron Man 3 slated for May 3, The Avengers releases May 4, next year!

Chris Hemsowrth Shares Thoughts On Kenneth Branagh Passing On THOR Sequel!
The actor behind Marvel's God of Thunder, Chris Hemsworth, shares his saddened thoughts THOR director Kenneth Branagh not returning to helm the sequel. Check it out!
Late last month, Marvel Studios set an official release date for the sequel to their Kenneth Branagh-directed Thor movie, along with the unfortunate news that Branagh won't be returning to helm. And chatting recently with the L.A. Times' Hero Complex, the star behind the Mighty Avenger, Chris Hemsworth shared saddened thoughts on Branagh's decision. During San Diego Comic-Con, Hemsworth says:
Im really disappointed, Ken built that character and everything I know about the Thor world I learned while shoulder-to-shoulder with Ken. I learned so much from him. As long as hes happy thats the thing, said Hemsworth, who left San Diego to return to the New Mexico set of The Avengers. I learned so much from Ken while we built [the first film] so at least I had that time with someone like that. The start of anything creative is the most important period in a way. Thats when the most can go wrong and Ken made sure we got it right.
The article further quotes Hemsworth stating the studio will decide fairly soon on Branagh's replacement, and that hes left a mark that will carry forward on the franchise. And with the Don Payne-written script underway, Thor 2 is supposedly scheduled for filming May next year, near the release of Chris Hemsworth's 'Thor' reprisal in The Avengers. And the sequel is slated for theaters July 26, 2013!

Director Brian Kirk In Early Talks To Helm THOR 2!
Since Kenneth Branagh won't return for the sequel, studio is trying to find a new director. Now, according to this new report, Game of Thrones director Brian Kirk is in negotiations to helm THOR 2 for Marvel and Disney. Hit the jump for more details!
And so it begins...Marvel Studio and Disney are moving forward with THOR 2, as the film is expected to begin production in early 2012. And as we all know, director Kenneth Branagh won't be returning for the sequel, so now we have the news that Brian Kirk is in talks to helm the film.
From Variety:
"Brian Kirk is in early negotiations to helm "Thor 2" for Marvel Studios and Disney, which will bring Chris Hemsworth's hammer-wielding superhero back to the bigscreen for his next adventure after "The Avengers."
A number of other helmers had been considered for the "Thor" sequel, including Drew Goddard ("Cabin in the Woods"), James McTeigue ("Ninja Assassin"), Noam Murro ("300: Battle of Artemesia") and Breck Eisner ("The Crazies")."
Brian Kirk directed the first two episodes of Luther, a great crime television series starring Idris Elba. He also directed one episode of Dexter and his latest work was seen in 3 episodes of HBO's hit show Game of Thrones. Don Payne is writing the upcoming superhero sequel, with Chris Hemsworth reprising his role as the God of Thunder.
THOR 2 is set to hit theatres on July 26, 2013!

More Asgardians To Appear In THOR Sequel; Will It Be More Asgard-Grounded?
Based completely on an overlooked statement, & slightly speculation, it seems unlike Marvel's original THOR film, the sequel could be more grounded in Asgard. Check it out!
Heels off the news of Marvel Studios pursuing Game Of Thrones director Brian Kirk to helm their THOR sequel, from Variety and Movie Web's report, what's offhandedly mentioned may hint at a majorly new direction from the Kenneth Branagh-directed film.
The "Thor" sequel is expected to feature a large cast of Aasgardians and creatures in the Norse mythology-set world.
Thor 2 is expected to double its cast of larger than life Aasgardians and mythical Norse creatures, making it one of the largest scale Marvel adventures to date, second only to The Avengers
Though I could be looking too much into it, this may hint at the possibility of the sequel being more, if not completely, grounded in the magical Norse realm of Asgard. Or not even just Asgard, but also the other six realms, of nine from the Norse cosmology, that weren't explored in the original film; especially if there'll be more creatures.
Of course, if so, it could mean the characters Thor interacted with in the original film, while earthbound, wouldn't return; notably Natalie Portman's Jane Foster. However, at some point in the comics, Thor did take Jane to Asgard with him, where she was briefly granted immortality and the power of gods; which could evidently be a twist for the film.
While staying noted that this is just a theory, and somewhat speculation, what would you think of Thor going on an all-out Asgardian adventure, rather than Earthly; like his outing in next summer's The Avengers?
