Cool videos Coach, what is your argument though? I mean this is called Getbig.com - American Bodybuilding's Original Online Community. Would you rather us all focus our interests on powerlifting?

Meh, I could care less about lifting 'x' amount of weight for egos sake and I would never want to look like a powerlifter.

Powerlifting is a sport where human strength is taken to its very limit... Try to powerlift... oh wait... you need to go to gym in order to do that...  ::)

Sorry I hurt your feelings, you can go back to your "powerlifter" training now. I bet you're fat.

there are a lot of powerlifters that built really good, johny jackson, bill kazmire, joe ladnieretc, also the best bodybuilders used powerlifting as a base, arnold, franco, ronnie  etc.

lol @ all the powerlifting snobs thinking they're any better than the bodybuilders.  both have completely lost the plot and are completely unable to distinguish signifier from signified.

actually i didn't watch the videos but i assume coach is impressed with the "sophisticated" "understanding" of "human physiology" these powerlifters display.

Powerlifters are just strong bodybuilders with poor physiques

A good physique can be seen 24/7, whereas strength can only be seen for the 1% of the day you are under the bar.

1 out of how many? The majority are fat, but really strong permabulkers.

But go ahead dj, train like a powerlifter and let's see if your build turn out like those few rare ones.

Their "build" isn't based on their style of training, it's based upon their high bodyfat levels. Take any upper level powerlifter and get him down to sub-8, and then you will see a decent physique. In fact, they will have an even more granite-like appearance due to them training with very very heavy training loads.

It's the eating and training around the suits that causes most to look that way. You can grab piles of lifters from the 60's- early 90's, especially from the #242 and under classes that looked great.

True dat! And his neck is nearly as wide as his waist ;) I'd say that's a legit 32 inch waist on a 250 pound man, pretty fucking incredible 8)

I have a huge amount of respect for power and olympic lifters.
BOTH sports make more sense and winning is based on objective criteria which I like.

BUT seeing a massive , ripped freak, like Jay or Ronnie in top shape just kicks ass for some reason.
Hail to the mass! THAT is where my passion is.

Those a major exceptions to the rule....you can't sit here with a straight face and think Powerlifters have as good a physique as Bodybuilders on average. Most , virtually ALL, PLers I know are big bulky guys with huge waists and very little in the way of aesthetic muscularity.

I respect what they do, but their holier than thou attitude is bullshit. I train just as hard as a powerlifter, just use a different approach.

They are both ego-driven pursuits anyway....one to look better than the next man, the other to be stronger than him

To each his own...i think a bunch of fat goons strapping themselves into gizmos that let them lift more than they really can is beyond stupid.

How much can you bench ?

"with or without a shirt ??"

ummm....what ?

Because he says he's a powerlifter with a bodybuilder's physique. Pretty lofty claim....I'm calling BS

You can say what you want, but Ed Coan never fucked a grapefruit.....:). Bodybuilding, what a hobby.

As far as Powerlifting, you need to look at the lighter weight classes, many of those fellas physiques atleast in the 60's-early 90's were 85-90% as good as your average bodybuilder. It's unfair to only pull out the SHW's that just don't give a fuck about how they look or have to worry about weight classes. It would be like pulling out an off-season Ronnie Kamali, Cook, etc... and go "look at these fat asses".
