Neither Republicans nor Democrats would give up the money that any of the cameras produce.

It's cheap to have one cop sit there and look through photos of people "speeding" or "red light violations"... Neither one of them will give it up.

Democrats love to pad the coffers and Republicans like to say they are "tough on crime"

This is all part of it.

Ya, money to the government is not a partisan thing.

The cops and government will focus on law enforcement in places that have a high return to the public coffers. Look at how popular in LE these red light cameras as these days. They don't even have to pay a cop to actually be there! Look at how they are focusing on seat-belts and such. In my area, they don't even bother to investigate bulglaries and thefts, and when they actually catch someone the case usually gets plead to nothing or dropped. But they'll run speed traps and put cameras up all year long...
