Baez's openings contained several new theories of the case. He alleged Caylee drowned in the family's pool June 16, 2008, that Casey Anthony's father George Anthony disposed of the body, that George Anthony molested Casey Anthony as a child, and that the meter reader who ultimately found Caylee's remains had more involvement in the case than he admits.
George Anthony, called as the state's first witness, denied molesting his daughter and denied having any part of Caylee's death.
George and Cindy Anthony have attended both days of their daughter's trial.

after all this time that the trial has been going on ... the defense just failed at their recent ( this past Saturday ) claim that Casey was not competent to stand trial.
They filed today saying Florida's process to impose the death penalty is unconstitutional ::)
A secret conversation between Casey Anthony and her lawyers prompted them to ask for an emergency competency hearing and halted court Saturday, according to court records released this morning.
"Counsel reasonably believes that Ms. Anthony is not competent to aid and assist in her own defense and is incompetent to proceed," stated the two-page motion filed in court Saturday.
The details of the privileged conversation between Anthony and her attorneys were not part of the public record released this morning.
Chief Judge Belvin Perry responded that same day by ordering forensic psychologists Dr. Harry A. McClaren, of Chattahoochee; and Dr. Ryan C.W. Hall, of Lake Mary; as well as psychologist Dr. Daniel Tressler, of Altamonte Springs — to evaluate Anthony at the Orange County Jail.
The psychologists determined Anthony is competent to stand trial. Each was asked to look into Anthony's ability to consult with her counsel with ration understanding, as well as a rational and factual understanding for the proceedings.
The doctors also evaluated her ability to understand the legal process, disclose pertinent facts to her attorney regarding the proceedings, behave appropriately in court, and testify relevantly.
Perry ordered the doctors to submit a written report to the court. That medical report is sealed, but not the motion requesting the psychological evaluations, Perry said.
Sources said the defense today filed a motion for a mistrial, possibly based on last week's ruling by a federal judge ruled that Florida's process for imposing the death penalty is unconstitutional.
The motion is not publically available, but Perry has a copy. It's unclear when the issue will be heard.

I watch Dr.Drew in the evening going over the day's events ... last nite I was so angry .. they showed her SEVERAL times .. smiling brightly while talking to people around her defense table

on a side note, it is interesting watching the defense attorneys. I've been involved in cases where I knew the defense attorneys knew their client was guilty yet they did their best to try and spin the evidence to say otherwise. If you talk to them they will tell you they are doing an honorable thing. Every citizen has the right to the best defense possible.
I still don't understand the rationale. While I know in principle what they are saying, I don't know how a person, knowing their client did an atrocious thing, can attempt to destroy innocent peoples reputation in order to save their client under the guise they are doing what's best for their client.
I've heard defense attorneys spin improbable theories that a 5th grader wouldn't buy with a straight face in hopes the jurors are stupid enough to buy it. I guess it takes a special breed to do things like that.

An Oklahoma woman says a crazed woman attacked her after thinking she was Casey Anthony.

An Oklahoma woman believes she was attacked because of mistaken identity with Casey Anthony, the Florida mother found not guilty for the murder of her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee.
The attack happened in Mayes County and one woman is in jail.
Sammay Blackwell (seen in the picture on the left) works at a convenience store and says a customer came in last Friday and stared at her and said she looked like Casey Anthony (seen in the picutre on the right).
Blackwell tells the News on 6 that as she left work, the same woman followed in her vehicle and then rammed her truck. "I said 'Oh my God help me". She hit me again, causing my vehicle to flip two and a half times, landing on the driver's side, and I just laid there playing dead," says Blackwell.
Police reportedly chased Shireen Nalley and arrested her for assault and battery with a deadly weapon. She was booked into the Mayes County jail.
Nalley reportedly told police she was "trying to save the children" and authorities believe she may have been on drugs.
