Title: otomix high top pro boxer shoes
Post by: j3di3 on June 02, 2011, 12:30:25 PM
hi

i bought my gf a pair of these shoes from ebay, apparently otomix dont even make them anymore, but she really wanted that specific model. they arrived all new with tags in a box. she has worn them today, once to the gym and look what happened. the material got all fucked up after 1.5 hour of weightlifting in the gym.

anyone had any expirience with these shoes? are they all shit quality like this or i just landed on a shitty pair. some dude in the gym told me that he had 2 pairs and that the material is not very high quality.

im gonna contact the seller on ebay, but perhaps this is the reason they got discontinued?

In all fairness why does she even use these shoes?

WTF, did she roll downhill in them? Only the tops look messed up, so was a lot of bending? I think you got a shitty pair
Otomix were specifically made for weight-training, I've never heard of them being poor quality---check Kai's, although, he prolly has like 20 pairs of red ones.

This is practically after 1 hour of wearing them,  after training chest and back.

As for why she needs them... well she's a girl and the thinks they look cool, so I guess that's good enough reason...

She could have gotten those old school Pumas, Nikes or Adidas (flat sole, less cushioning) and had the same benefits w/o the wear and tear...

Why doesnt she just wear normal low top sneekers like most people? Does she workout with Aleksandr Karelin?

If they're all made the same, they're all going to tear up the same. That upper looks like the standard shitty bonded vinyl or leather they make dumpy $30 jackets and $200 couches out of.

Have her look at women's wrestling shoes, they should be of much higer quality. Or if she's willing to try a normal shoe, the Puma Speed Cats or Asics Tigers.

The seller may have stored the shoes in someplace hot like an attic, which can really heat up in the summer months and is not very friendly to leather.

I’ve owned three pairs of Otomix shoes and never had a problem with any of them.
My favorites were an all canvas wrestling shoe - very lightweight & breathable. While nowhere near the ones in your pic, they were still high-tops.
Asics makes a very similar design for less than the Otomix.

Your GF may wish to check them out.

I think Montague has the answer .. they were stored terribly .. they aren't new .. the tops aren't leather and dry rot is set in .. the material is just broken down and the more they are used the worse it will get

I doubt the seller will take them back and re-imburse you , that sucks

I had a friend buy a "name" brand overnite bag .. it was a knockoff and the seams split .. she was denied her request for re-imbirsement and could only resort to leaving a bad rating for the seller

e-Bay is loaded with land mines like that  :-\

I've had Otomix shoes for years with no issues. If they were "boxing" shoes, then maybe she should be boxing.
