Title: Crackin' The Good Book Once In A While Ain't Gonna Hurt
Post by: Bodybuilder Lex Reeves on June 10, 2011, 06:50:55 PM
I'm always telling these kids to open up The Bible and read sthe story of Man's Salvation.  Keep them away from these damn drugs and dating from the other side of the fence.

The bible is a great tool when you feel hopeless or you are really suffering. It gives great comfort. Anytime I need a deep answer about something that bible has it for me. Doesn't mean I always follow it I'm so far from perfect.

I agree.

"Yea though I walk through the Valley of the Shadow of Death, I shall fear no evil, for thou art with me...."

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me for the rest of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

I don't care how rotten I am or how I feel, this is a prayer I say in the morning when I wake up and when I go to sleep.

Psalm 23.

Don't blaspheme boys. Please.

Here today, gone tomorrow. We are not citizens of this world, which is why there is so much turmoil and unrest.

Our lives mean something, regardless of what you might think, or be persuaded to think.

Glad you identify yourself as a bodybuilder in your handle - too many people here that have never seen the inside of a gym.

How do I grow muscles?

I absolutely agree!

Though the non-believers will sneer at me for saying this, I have a recent story to tell.

My dad has been a heavy drinker all his life. Got sober, went back to the bottle, battled for years.

Not long ago, my buddy who brought me back to faith laughed at me when I said I did not believe prayer could cure my dad's alcoholism. I really did not think it would help.

He had his hip replaced, and had a rough time recovering, but he went something like 12 weeks totally dry. Then, very recently they found an infection in his hip, had to take the hip out and replace the head, he is now on vanco etc etc. Bottom line- he hasn't had a drink in 14 weeks, and in all honesty I do not think he will ever go back to it. In the last 4 weeks, I have drank maybe 3 times, and have never felt stronger.

Our family has a chemistry to it that is WORKING, and we have never had that. Never! I have the strongest feeling this depressed drinking that we both did for years has passed, and though it did not happen in a way that I would have liked, it happened! Hate to rush and say either of us is "cured", but I asked and have received. Sobriety has been the greatest gift ever given to me or my family, and I am indebted to God for making it happen. He did things His way, and here we are a happy and fully functioning family.

If you doubt the power of God, you owe it to yourself to find out first hand. Get on your knees and pray, give thanks, and see what happens. You have nothing to lose, except foolish pride.

Fuck you and your sky fairy. The Romans had the right attitude toward Christians - feed the skinny fuckers to the lions, nail them to planks, etc.

Don't you think if your alcoholic dad hadn't picked up the bottle in the first place...the family chemistry might have been there all along? Instead you bring god into the equation as a way to justify your old man being a fuck up. The family chemistry was ruined because you were all pre occupied with him being a drunk.

If you meditate in between sets you can improve your form, praying would probably do the same thing.

what annoys me is that supposedly perfectly normal, rational people cannot discern between coincidental occurrences and individual traits versus an all conquering powerful being.

they thank the lord for plain old "luck"- which is totally explainable statistically.

they praise the lord for "miracles"- which again is just a mix of luck and coincidence..both explainable.

they ignore most of the reverse miracles and luck- those circumstances that balance out all of the so called devine interventions - like massive famine, natural disasters, disease, psychopaths, poverty etc.

they cite the bible as reason and motive to justify trespass of all kinds of barbaric activity.

loads more but ive lost my motivation to write...its depressing...
