Reporters lined up in Juneau and in front of computers across the country spent the afternoon poring over 24,000 newly released emails from Sarah Palin’s first year and a half as governor, hoping for a bombshell.
Many of the emails deal with the mundane business of government. Others show her corresponding with aides, admirers and members of her administration about everything from her views on dinosaurs to fisheries policy.
They show her acknowledging encouraging notes from constituents who hope John McCain will pick her as the running mate, as well as startlingly nasty hate mail and death threats. Palin herself is intensively involved in dealing with the press, monitoring her image and complaining about unfair treatment long before she became a national figure known for diatribes against the “lamestream media.”
Her tight-knight gubernatorial staff was put on the defensive when she was picked for the 2008 GOP ticket and national reporters swarmed the surprise new political celebrity, the emails show. There’s even an unsolicited note from Newt Gingrich among the flurry of email traffic between Palin and her advisers looking for ways to respond to the media inquiries that ran from the comprehensive to the unusual.

They all spent a week in Alaska praying, hoping, for anything. And what did they find? Guess what - the woman can strng a sentence together and actually did a good job before the jackals like 240 and the oter far left parasites nearly shut down the state with mountains of frivolous ethics complaints that swamped her finances, and that of the state.

I like many of her (current) positions. She had some liberal positions in 2008, remember? Amnesty, capping emissions, etc.
I just think she doesn't have the mental horsepower to handle the job. But she believes she's more than qualified. Nope.

You know the unprecedented fishing expedition conducted by the Obama compliant media has been an epic fail when even the Politico is forced to admit this whole spectacle will probably end up helping her. How? In the video below, Andy Barr discusses the fact that the emails pretty much back up what we’ve known all along: Governor Palin was a very engaged and highly effective Governor. She was an impressive leader who paid attention to all issues, large and small. Further, the emails bolster the message in The Undefeated by corroborating the fact that she was a fearless, no-nonsense chief executive who took on Big Oil and other outside interests in order to further the interests of those for whom she worked: the citizens of Alaska. It says something when even the Politico, not exactly known for their unbiased Palin coverage, is conceding that this surreal “colonoscopy” by the cartoonish mainstream media is backfiring. And that’s exactly what it’s doing. Much to the media’s chagrin, the emails show a serious and highly effective executive who was in full control of her administration. As Tim Crawford indicated yesterday, everyone should read the emails.
The best part of this whole episode, I think, is this: The media’s decision to give this email release saturation coverage will only hurt them, and help her, as it will refocus people’s attention on Governor Palin’s actual record…and away from their carefully constructed and laughably false narrative of Governor Palin as a political lightweight. And, as an added bonus, the timing of this is perfect as all this attention can’t help but provide priceless, if indirect, publicity for the upcoming release of The Undefeated.
It’s almost as if she’s toying with them and had planned this all along. Whether she planned it or not, though, it has to frustrate the hell out of them that every time they think they have a new silver bullet to take her out, it backfires and she emerges stronger. I feel their pain (not). This will only intensify their PDS and resulting demented behavior. Pass the popcorn.

Emails released Friday show Sarah Palin and her family were determined not to have their oldest child singled out while he was stationed in Fort Wainwright in Fairbanks, Alaska.
According to released emails, Track Palin, 22, was “deathly afraid of being given special treatment or attention,” Palin wrote, especially during the governor’s visit to the base where he and the 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team were until deployed to Iraq in September 2008.
“Track is begging that, at the most, we stop by his company to say ‘what’s up’ and that he not have his shift schedule changed just to accommodate our visit,” Palin wrote in a June 11 email after Track had possibly been appointed to lead their tour.
Track, according to Palin’s emails was “nervous” and “[didn’t] want to be treated any differently than other soldiers.”

Once again you're doing the "they allowed it to be done, so its okay if we do it" argument. This is the most common type of reply in politics by far. It doesn't work like that.
A lack of bad moral actions does not mean automatic good moral actions. Just because Palin didn't do this or that scandal does not mean she deserves to be praised for not doing this or that scandal.
There is no ass kicking here.

Sarah Barracuda is playing the press for suckers, and they hate it. But they can't they leave the story alone. Result: weeks of excited headline coverage, free publicity galore, right up her alley. The media mob are cutting their noses to spite their faces.
I don't know if we have the sleaziest and most corrupt media in American history -- maybe in human history? -- but they all deserve a Pulitzer for Aggravated Mendacity. (That means "lying," if any of them are trying to read this). But it's not just their Central Party Line propaganda, day in and day out. It's also their personal wickedness, their abject ignorance, bottomless vulgarity and corruption, their lynch mob mentality -- even aimed at one-year old baby Trig Palin -- their idiotic mass conformity, and now, thanks to Governor Palin, they look like the idiots they really are. The sheer malignity of the Left and its Organs of Propaganda is being exposed every single day.
One of the most disgraceful villains at the WaPo, Dana Milbank, started a twitter campaign a couple of months ago to drive Sarah Palin out of the media -- for at least a week. Mr. Milbanks is a JourNOlist, you see. His job is not to tell the truth. Nope. It's to run coverups for the Demagogues and to destroy as many Republicans as possible. Milbank is a PC Commissars of Censorship and Propaganda. Trying to blacklist Sarah Palin is an act of flagrant censorship. That's what the Left tries to do to anybody who dares to speak up against them.
Well, last week Sarah Palin scored 263,000,000 Google hits. In the last four weeks the score is 959,000,000, almost a billion. Free publicity. No Gotcha's!
All the editors are screaming at their newsies, and those dogged news hounds are screaming back. You betcha.

This has been going on for months. It drives them to the brink of sanity. Palin is turning the tables on the press, and they don't like it. Manipulating people is their job.
Here's a brilliant piece of PR: Sarah's non-campaign bus tour. The mediots are running ragged trying to follow Palin's giant campaign-type bus, she's making headlines every day, but she will not announce her presidential run. (Not yet... maybe never...).
So the panting wolf pack goes chasing after the bus wherever it goes, the Palin non-campaign isn't telling them anything, and every now and then Sarah and her family disappear from the bus without telling the sweating jourNOlists, who can't stop running because they don't know when she's going to make the Big Announcement. (Maybe tomorrow? Maybe never?)
All kinds of complaints in the media. This isn't fair! Sarah's bus is a danger to traffic! They should slow down. They should give the press a daily itinerary.
But Palin doesn't need to please the media. She has her Facebook, she has Twitter, she has her own websites, YouTube movies, that big new movie coming out, most of all she's got the movie star good looks and that smile. Feminazis all around the country are having nightmares. What if we get President Sarah Palin? They will never live it down.
Normal campaigns have PR people to kiss the press's ample buttocks in return for half-decent coverage. The Palin answer is that this is not a campaign at all... who needs a PR guy or gal? She just happens to be driving that big bus to primary states.
Shazzam! Sarah shows up in New Hampshire, just in time to take the wind out of Mitt Romney's campaign. (She makes a nice apology the next day, but the damage is done. Oopsey! Lefties around the world were salivating, sure they would finally get a chance to dig really nasty dirt about this brilliant woman -- who they're sure is a drooling idiot. I mean, she called her baby Trig! And she didn't abort him! How moronic is that?

Even the UK Guardian (a big power in the Leftist Party Line cabal) is desperately looking for data crunchers. The LA Times is wetting its collective pants.
I was afraid the mob would finally crucify Governor Palin. Who doesn't have some dirt in 24,000 emails? Can the NYT or the WaPo can pass that test? Not a chance. If we ever get a chance read their in-house emails, ugly dirt will spill from every page. These are not nice people, our mediots, and they are very abusive -- to each other, to their audiences, and to politicians. They run a reign of terror.
The result? The emails show that Palin ran a competent administration in Alaska, that she conducted tough negotiations with the oil companies, that the corrupt Republican blowhards over there hate Our Sarah as much as the Demagogue apparatchiks. If there are any honest people still slogging through that mountain of emails, they may turn into Palin fans yet. So that non-scandal kept Sarah in the headlines for another couple of weeks. Just like with the non-campaign bus, the media ended up exposing only itself. And the sight ain't purty.
How does that compare to the solid media blackout for one Barack Hussein Obama? The last election was just one big media scam, in cahoots with David Axelrod and George Soros. Obama lied from beginning to end. He lied about Jerry Wright, he lied about Bill Ayers, most of all he lied about himself. The media covered up Hussein's real life, his real Leninoid ideology, and told Americans they would be racists if they didn't vote for a pig in a poke. They turned Hussein into a rock idol. JourNOlism. Only the conservative media dug out relevant facts.
Today we still don't have any facts about Obama's blackout years in college, not to mention those mysterious Social Security numbers, the authorship of Obama's two autobiographies, how much Saudi money got through those open website portals, and what Obama's planted mole Commissars are really doing in the administration without Congressional oversight. This doesn't look like an American administration; it looks like a Chicago mob racket.
Obama has a mobster's control over the media. They know they will get hurt if they don't click their heels and go Hail Hussein! So they do it.
When Obama had Osama killed the media burst out in loud Hosannahs! like some grooving gospel choir. But you know they did it on command. These people salivate all over Obama's trouser crease whenever he rings the bell, like Pavlov's dog. They've actually said so.
So is Sarah Barracuda really Sarah the snake-charmer? She certainly has them hypnotized. For three whole years they've told us how much they hate her, but they can't stop giving her headlines. It couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of vipers. Somewhere down in Hades, H.L. Mencken is having fits of the giggles. Mencken was an honest journalist; but we have no Henry Louis Mencken today.

Is Hollywood softening its opinion on Sarah Palin?
Over the weekend, the former Alaska governor got a surprising show of support from actor Ashton Kutcher, who trashed the media for digging through thousands of emails Palin sent when she was in office.
"As much as I'm not a fan of Sarah Palin I find sifting through her emails repulsive and over reaching media," Kutcher said on Twitter.
The message was re-tweeted by his wife, actress Demi Moore, who added, "So agree!"
Their messages came as Palin got a boost from another potentially surprising source: David Mamet, the famously testy playwright, screenwriter and film director who confessed he's "crazy about" the ex-governor.
In an interview with the Financial Times (and re-printed in Slate), Mamet, who announced during the 2008 election that he was no longer a "brain dead liberal," trashed President Obama, calling his record "abysmal." Asked whom he would prefer as president, Mamet was mum on every single GOP candidate named, except for Palin.

The huge cache of Sarah Palin's emails released Friday offered not only a chance to see what she was writing about during her uncompleted term as Alaska's governor, but also an opportunity to see how well she writes.
AOL Weird News brought samples to two writing analysts who independently evaluated 24,000 pages of the former governor's emails. They came back in agreement that Palin composed her messages at an eighth-grade level, an excellent score for a chief executive, they said. [/color]
"I'm a centrist Democrat, and would have loved to support my hunch that Ms. Palin is illiterate," said 2tor Chief Executive Officer John Katzman.
"However, the emails say something else. Ms. Palin writes emails on her Blackberry at a grade level of 8.5.
"If she were a student and showing me her work, I'd say 'It's fine, clear writing,'" he said, admitting that emails he wrote scored lower than Palin's on the widely used Flesch-Kincaid readability test.
"She came in as a solid communicator," said Paul J.J. Payack, president of the Global Language Monitor. The emails registered as an 8.2 on his version of the test. "That's typical for a corporate executive."

Many in the mainstream media were eagerly anticipating the release of Sarah Palin’s emails, hoping to find some scrap of embarrassing information on the former Governor of Alaska. However, the more than 24,000 emails largely showed Palin as a pragmatic leader focused on her State.
The emails had been released three years after reporters had asked for them in an open-records request, reports The Wall Street Journal.
According to the news source, one of the things that emerged from the emails was that, despite some media claims to the contrary, Palin was not much concerned with the 2008 Presidential campaign until she was tabbed to run with John McCain. Instead, Palin was focused on doing her job in Alaska.
“Our time and efforts will continue to be spent on serving Alaskans, not party politics,” read one email written before Palin was tabbed as a Vice-Presidential candidate and after she had agreed to speak at the 2008 Republican National Convention.
The emails added “nuance and depth” to Palin, according to The New York Times.
Tim Crawford, the treasurer of Palin’s political action committee, said that the emails would “show a very engaged (Governor) Sarah Palin being the CEO of her state.”

By now, we lamestream-media bullies were expecting to have an arsenal of IEDs (Internet embarrassment devices) to hurl at our favorite target. But a surprising thing happened after the state of Alaska released more than 24,000 pages of Sarah Palin's emails sent during her term as governor from 2006 to 2008: Like Al Capone's vault, it turned out there was nothing there.
The emails, released Friday, were pretty unrevealing for anybody with a passing familiarity with Palin's career. News reports tell us they portray a governor who was unusually thin-skinned about media criticism for such a prominent politician (how shocking!), an outsider who relied extensively on her husband Todd for assistance (no kidding!), and a "drill, baby, drill" Republican who was surprisingly critical of oil companies (as long as she was trying to extract higher taxes from them in order to hand bigger rebate checks to Alaska voters, that is). All in all, she comes off as precisely what she was: An inexperienced small-town mayor getting on-the-job training in the governor's mansion.

Give Obama same scrutiny as Palin emails

It would be tempting simply to dismiss the mad rush by the New York Times, the Washington Post and other mainstream media outlets to get their hands on those 24,000-plus emails that Sarah Palin wrote while she was governor of Alaska.
Clearly, there was a “gotcha” expectation among journalists poring over the Palin messages. They thought they would find damaging new revelations about the woman who, for good or ill, has become in less than four years one of the most controversial figures in American politics. That nothing of note has yet emerged tells us that something other than sound news judgment drives the reporting agendas in too many newsrooms.
Multiple lessons should be drawn from this episode. First, there is a lamentable confusion among conservatives who criticized the media for demanding the emails and inviting their readers to assist in going through them. This is called “crowdsourcing,” and it is a valuable new tool made possible by the Internet for increasing government transparency and accountability. Conservatives should embrace crowdsourcing and put it to good use or risk being left behind on the technology front.
Second, too many media outlets that went wild over the Palin emails have not devoted anywhere near as much passion, energy and resources to holding President Barack Obama accountable on the pledge he made on his first day in the Oval Office — that he would run the most transparent administration ever. The list of Obama transparency blockages is a long one, but it has received only sporadic coverage in most precincts of the mainstream media.
For example, the Obama administration has argued since 2009, despite multiple contrary judicial rulings, that White House visitor logs are Secret Service property and not subject to the Freedom of Information Act. Judicial Watch, a conservative watchdog group, continues to doggedly pursue the logs in federal court, which has resulted in partial postings on the White House website. But as The Washington Examiner noted last month, many of the log entries that have been posted do not reflect all of the visitors or officials participating in particular meetings, two-thirds of the names on the released logs are of guided group tours rather than official meetings, and thousands of people known to have attended White House meetings are nowhere to be found in the logs.
Judicial Watch’s Tom Fitton told a House committee recently that his organization has filed 48 lawsuits seeking to force Obama administration officials to comply with the FOIA. Fitton is not alone in this arena. Anne Weismann of the Center for Responsibility for Ethics in Washington, which normally focuses its ire on Republicans, said “the policies for disclosure are in place, but the applications of the policies do not exist.”
That sad fact would change if more journalists studied Obama’s transparency record as assiduously as they did Palin’s emails.

During a "Daily Show" segment entitled "P-mail," Stewart pounded the media for providing "full team coverage of the arbitrary release date of Sarah Palin's non-urgent e-mails"--and for feeding the former vice presidential candidate's sense of self-importance.
"Where would Palin get this notion that we're hanging on every word she's said or written?" Stewart asked, before playing a video montage of media outlets bracing for the release of a trove of 24,000 pages of emails she wrote as Alaskan governor. "Oh right. She got that idea because we are.""For some reason, the media went DEFCON 1," Stewart said, rolling clips of news outlets disappointed by the apparent absence of any smoking-gun revelations in the massive email dump.
In one segment, a CNN correspondent in Alaska describes an email from someone complaining, "Palin was spotted with Trig in a car not wearing an approved car seat."
"That story better end with Palin getting out of the car and beating the woman with a tire iron," Stewart said. "Why are you wasting our time?"

AOL Weird News gave two writing analytic companies samples of the former Alaska governor's recently released emails and both agree that the Tea Party favorite writes as if she's in middle school.
The 24,000 emails during Palin's time as Alaska governor are still being studied. But the documents are filled with her famous folksy phrases like "holy moly," "shindig" and "holy flippin' crap."
It turns out Palin's writing skills are still better than most educated Americans. Global Language Monitor gave Palin's emails a score of 8.2, which actually exceeds that of most chief execs. "She's very concise. She gives clear orders. Her sentences and punctuations are logical," said Paul Payack of GLS. "She has much more of a disciplined mind than she's given credit for."
John Katzman, CEO of another company, 2tor, gave Palin a score of 8.5. He said the potential presidential candidate's emails scored higher than his own, when based on the widely-used Flesch-Kincaid readability test.

Former Arkansas Governor and former Presidential contender Mike Huckabee sent an email to supporters of his HuckPAC blasting the left and the media for their overeagerness in digging through the thousands of emails from Sarah Palin’s Governorship released recently. Huckabee practically praises them for their ability to distinguish Palin as above the clamor as she could be while fighting off attacks about her family.
Using an excerpt from The Huckabee Report included in the emails, Huckabee says;
"You almost have to feel sorry for all the reporters and leftwing bloggers who spent the weekend slogging through 24,000 pages of Sarah Palin’s old emails from her years as Alaska governor. They thought they were going on the ultimate Alaskan safari, hunting for anything remotely scandalous or uninformed or even ungrammatical that they could attack Gov. Palin with. But to their shock and grief, their partisan animosity backfiired. So far, aside from some justifiable anger about unfair attacks on her family, they’ve found nothing but thousands and thousands of dry government emails, to and from a perfectly-competent chief executive. You know, I used to be a governor. I know how deadly dull those emails must be to anyone who wasn’t involved in the business they concerned. That’s why I almost feel sorry for the people who volunteered to read them. Or I would, if it didn’t serve ‘em right for trying so hard to play “gotcha.”

Don’t want to take this too far. Kinda wish I hadnt had to tell anyone, but crazy to think it could have been hidden long. No- no Egan, and I’m not going to assume this will be as smooth and easy as the other kids’ births, so can’t imagine inviting in a rock radio microphone.

August 15, 2008, Juneau, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin today announced she will attend a baby shower in Trig Palin’s honor next week and that all gifts will be donated to help military families.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Family Ties Foundation. The foundation is a non-profit organization created to provide immediate support for the military families of wounded service members deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom or Operation Enduring Freedom. The event is being hosted by local morning radio personalities Bob and Mark from 106.5 KWHL.
“My family has been so blessed by the arrival of Trig. It is my honor to share that blessing with our men and women in uniform through this event ,” Governor Palin said. “I invite all Alaskans who’d like to support our wonderful military families to participate.”
The event will take place at Romano’s restaurant, on Fireweed Lane at C Street, on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. The public is invited. Romano’s restaurant will donate a portion of the sales from the evening to the Family Ties Foundation.

News organizations and individuals requested emails from Palin's time as governor in September 2008, shortly after she became the Republican vice presidential nominee. When most of the emails came out last month, only a few were from December 2006, Palin's first month as governor.
The records released Wednesday were heavily redacted and mostly sent to Palin by aides. A relative handful came from Palin herself. In a Dec. 12, 2006, message, with the subject line "AG status," apparently referring to her hunt for an attorney general, she said she was disappointed that an aide was speaking of candidates when she wasn't ready for names to be discussed yet.
"I am finding my circle of confidants to be shrinking daily," she wrote.
In another message from the same day, Palin detailed what she was looking for in an attorney general: "I will be appointing an independent, 'new' AG who does not have any baggage on any sides of any of the relevant issues facing the legislature. All I have been looking for is a good legal mind, someone totally committed to ethical government, a less-political, unpretentious long-time Alaskan who is free from the influence of any of the 'more of the same' circles running in Juneau."
The state claimed executive or deliberative process in making the redactions. Wednesday's email release was done electronically; Perez said the state is working on a new system. The emails released last month were in paper form and filled six boxes.
Perez said the state is making sure that all emails that should have been released have been. If more are found, she said they'll be released with emails from the final 10 months of Palin's term - a period covering October 2008 through July 2009. Requests for those emails were made subsequent to the initial request in September 2008.
No timetable for the release of the additional emails was given, though Attorney General John J. Burns has said it won't take as long.
