I'm looking for ones that prevent wrinkes specifically. I'm 33 and now starting to get wrinkles.
I've been using Nivea at nights...I find it very oily though. However I don't know much about what is good and what is not.
During the day I use an Aveeno cream. It's quite light but I'm wondering if it doesn't do the job because it isn't as oily.
I don't know much about facial moisturizers.
Do you have any tips or advice or recommendations??
And I usually just moisturize once day.....after my shower. So if I'm going out afterwards I use Aveeno but if I'm staying in I use the oily Nivea.
-
I use Cetaphil moisturizer at night and Cetaphil spf 15 lotion during the day.

And I'm guessing you like it?
The one thing about cetaphil...it's affordable.
Do you use their cleanser as well? And if you do what do you think?

Yes, I like it because I'm not allergic to it....went to the dermatologist after getting some bumps and they gave me Cetaphil samples..Cetaphil is fine for me. If you feel your lotion is too light you may want to try la mer..kinda pricey though. Seems like I used Nivea a long time ago and liked it but I'm probably allergic now.
I use Cetaphil soap or Benefit "Gee That was Quick" to clean my face but I guess they are discontinuing it (the Benefit product):( They have some new cleanser that's probably the same stuff..hopefully..haven't tried it yet though. REally like the ease of the Gee that was Quick and it cleans well...just squirt some on a cotton pad and wipe your face clean....easier than soaping and rinsing.

Maybe for preventing wrinkles you should get something w/retinoid (?) stuff in it? I don't really know much about that stuff as I'm allergic to a lot of it. Sometimes Allure magazine has good reviews on that kind of thing.

I seem to recall ~flower~ was posting a lot of good stuff re:good natural products for skin and hair awhile back
maybe all those products have been discontinued by now as well
( can't find the thread here .. may have been on the X :-\ )

I think she had an issue with parabens (sp?).
I have a friend who is an aesthetician and has her own medi-spa/salon. She carries SkinCeuticals, OBAGI,VIVITÉ®, Clenziderm M.D. among some other brands (I'd have to do some checking), all of which are fairly pricey. I have used some of them, but not on a consistent basis.
Basic rule of thumb = Cleanse, correct, moisturize, protect. Those steps do not have to be from the same product line. The "correct" part is key. It's where the anti oxidants, glycolic, alpha hydroxys, retinols, etc. come in - depends on your skin. She insists vitamin C (topical serum) additionally for everyone (SkinCeuticals being THE absolute best), but it is EXTREMELY expensive.
Moisturizers = different summer vs winter. I have yet to find the perfect one since Prescriptives discontinued. >:(

Why?
I'm wondering if the pricey/expensive brands of facial products truly do make a difference and if it's worth shelling out the extra cash.
I know spa personal will push these on you but I don't know if they truly believe they make a signficant difference or not!
-
Why?
Because if it weren't for the gutter, Migs' mind would be homeless.

Cleansers and moisturizers not so much. Corrective ~ yes

The truth is topical moisturizers cannot prevent or improve wrinkles; if they could everyone would know it and we would all be using that product by now. Short of cosmetic surgery or good genes from your parents there is no magic bullet.
If you want healthy looking skin, the single most important thing you can do is to stay out of the sun. You do not have to be fanatical about it, but do use common sense. If possible, avoid being out in the sun between 10am-3pm. When you are out in the sun—being sun exposed is a fact of life in places like Florida or California—always use sunscreen (assuming you have a fair complexion) and always wear a wide rimmed hat—wide enough to cast a shadow over your face to protect it from the sun.
Unfortunately, most of the sun damage we see manifest at age 35 and older occurs when we are 10-20; a time of life when most of us are not thinking about the sun and the cosmetic damage it is doing. :-[

Nah I am 44 with wrinkles and grey hair.

Try not to worry, never worry, you don't need want or deserve those wrinkles.
Instead smile and laugh and learn, cleverly earned lines will define your face and your life...
I used to afford Clinique and slap in on all over, legs and all, but none of that expensive stuff actually makes any difference. You must eat well and exercise lots, and smile big time at your mirror.
Vaseline is as good as anything else, but fortunately and thankfully I rarely have dry skin.
Nowadays my fave is Palmer's Cocoa, £3.49 and it smells fantastic but is subtle, it's natural & not too cosmeticy.
Carmex for lips.
xL
keep smiling at your face and put on your moisturiser with loving care,
massage your cheeks and yoga your brow...
exercise your lips, kiss lots

I tried so hard to rise above the lowest common denominator, but your comment ended that effort.
Wasn't there a "Facts of Life" episode where Natalie (the fat girl, before the black girl got even fatter) was scheming to get some expensive makeup kit, and Mrs. Garrett handed her a cucumber to rub on her face? (and yes, I know the jokes inspired by the scene...almost as bad as the wax on, wax off from "Karate Kid").

Hands Down the one the Celebrities use is.....
100% hyaluronic acid Moisturizer
I get mine from "The Natural Skin Shop" I also use the alpha beta daily exfoilator or skin peel kits.....Usually they come with the 100% hyaluronic acid any way...
http://www.naturalskinshop.com/Hyaluronic_p/prxm48p.htm
The 100% hyaluronic acid Moisturizer is like magic in a bottle...u don't even feel it on your face....and if your have oily skin like body builders on gear...or ethnic skin..this stuff is the only answer...like I said...it's magic in a bottle.
I also use this Alpha Beta Daily Exfoliator Kit.....Which comes with the 100% hyaluronic acid Serum...
http://www.naturalskinshop.com/Alpha_Beta_p/prxsg1p.htm
I also use a Salon strength Glycolic Peel for pennies on the dollar from another site,
http://www.platinumskincare.com/70glycolicchemicalpeel.aspx
if you search youtube videos for platinum skincare you will find a lot of good reviews and stuff about their products...Glycolic is the safest acid to use even at low ph levels and strong percents....cause its a mild acid by nature...thats the only type of peel I use...except for the apha beta daily exfoilator form natural skin shop that has sacylic acid...which is safe.
Trust me I did a couple cycles so I search hard and quick for what realy works....and Im glad I did...I will use these for life...just like models and celebrities......
LOL you don't realy think they use Proactive do you??? ;D ;D ;D

I've been using this for ~a year & a half year round. Light enough for summer, but still works great in the dead of winter. A little goes a long way. Love it! Available everywhere (like Target).

I believe in taking care of myself and a balanced diet and rigorous exercise routine. In the morning if my face is a little puffy I’ll put on an ice pack while doing stomach crunches. I can do 1000 now. After I remove the ice pack I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower I use a water activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub. Then I apply an herb-mint facial mask which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion.

Not sure if you're being facetious or not but ^ that is overkill. Cleanse, correct, moisturize, protect. Masques and scrubs 1-2xweek max. The order of application matters for absorption (molecule size).
-
I just recently invested in a pore scrubber......a soft bristled rotating brush. I really like it and it seems to have made my skin quite a bit softer.
I exfoliate....then use a regular facial wash with my pore scrubber...and then I moisturize....I have one special under eye moisturizer and then a regular facial moisturizer.
Once a week I give myself a mask and I'll extract blackheads.

Well, you can always be thinner... look better.

Highly recommended by dermatologists. Not greasy or sticky at all and NO SMELL. Check for online coupon, although not $$$ anyway. I hope you like it.
-
Oddly enough... I have yet to have any wrinkles.
Black don't crack they say.

Are you serious? ???
In case you are... may I suggest that you cut back on your routine somewhat? ...considerably?
If you want to cleanse your pores deeply, doing so after a facial ice pack might not be the most productive. An ice pack will close your pores, making them more difficult to cleanse. A deep pore cleanse is more effective after gentle steaming either directly or indirectly such as a hot shower. Or after exercise when your pore have opened due to sweating. Sweating is also an effective way to cleanse and flush out your pores.
Almond / walnut or other ground nut/shell/ husk exfoliating scrubs have a tendency to tear the pores, they are like micro fine shards of glass, which over time will result in permanently enlarged pores. No one wants a face that looks like a golf ball. The best scrubs to use are artificial scrubs with perfectly round beads. They do the job without tearing the pores,
