Clarence was trying to date her, she even mentioned on the news this week how he was recovering from a stroke and doing well....but you do make a good point.

Have I missed anything that past 2 weeks? I've been driving my wife's vehicle with no sirius.
I wish Artie would come back

I agree somewhat. It is still better than anything on terrestrial radio. I think Howard is at the age where he doesn't give a shit like he once did.

No, he show was always shit...it just got shittier...Because, after awhile, you can only do or say the same thing for so long, until it's not "shocking anymore"
On another note, Clarence while never feel the comfort of Robin's bosoms...

Thank you for voicing my exact thoughts.

Doesn't Robin only bang white guys?

My condolences, but as a sax player, Clarence was so far overrated. Only reason he got his moment of fame was that he was in a good band with "the Boss" and he probably knew how to kiss a lot of ass once he got into the right scene from being in the right band.
As a sax player though, he could barely squeak out a major scale cleanly. Big man, yes.But only big in stature and size, not legendary like other sax players that could play head and shoulders better than him.

well, in general, i get diarrhea anytime i hear anything from the "boss" and the "e street band". hopefully, the death of one of those annoying assholes will break up the band. or so i can hope. jesus, i hate springsteen's fucking face. he had two good songs. and by good i mean i won't vomit when i hear them.

Springsteen, imo, is one of those guys that is a better songwriter than a performer. Certain guys, Neil Young for example, aren't the best onstage. For whatever reason they don't come across as well as another showman, say Michael Jackson or Angus Young. The latter of which doesn't have much talent but what he does do has forged an entire genre of music and he's good at what he does. Though I may not agree with his style or care for it over someone like Grant Green, I can appreciate what he does. But I digress...
Neil Young has always said "I'm a songwriter first, guitar player second and a singer third." I've never heard (not that I've looked for it!) Springsteen say anything of the sort. More like he agrees with the people that call him "the Boss." Usually I'm big on trivia, but WTF do they call him that anyway?! (off to look it up on Wiki!)

This. Sorry the guy is dead and all....but how he became known as a great sax player is beyond me

you're being too nice. i thik you're trying to say " i don't know how this talentless asshole kept it up for this long". i think he sold jersey guidos the image of the "american badass" well, and somehow kept the gimmick up for 30 years. i mean, he has like 30 people in that fucking band. you could play me a progression from any of his songs and i wouldn't know what the fuck they were. he just makes very forgettable music.
neil young is a god compared to douchesteen. heart of gold is 2 chords, and it pwns the shit out of any springsteen song.
the only one i like in his shitty band is max weinberg, and that's because he's conan's drummer (or was, not sure if he's on there still).

Never was a Springsteeen fan either!
Clemens was good but he wasn`t no Lenny Pickett !

Yes he was such a bad sax player that he could sell out 90,000 stadiums 4 days in a row with his band. He also was part of selling a crazy amount of albums. He couldn't play a major scale? Are you for real? Go play your sax in your house telling people he can't play like you can. Keep playing do re mi with your woodwind in your delusion. Grover Washington Jr. and David Sanborn both had good things to say about Clarence. I never heard them say you know that Youngblood could play a major scale really cleanly. Where did you ever hear him play scales?

I was told that even when Donald Byrd got older he couldn't sqeak out Jack, and his live performance of Wind Parade was "hard to listen to".

Bit shocked people think technical proficiency has something to do with Rock n Roll.
Quiet sure most of my favorites could not plan a "clean scale" either whatever the fuck that is.
John Cash
Bo Diddley
Howlin Wolf
Soul & Passion is generally what most human ears connect with.
Anyways whatever enjoy your Kenny G cassettes, sure he can blow the ass off a clean scale..

One- I'm not a sax player, and you don't need to be a sax player to understand whether someone can play their instrument or not.
Two-the major scale when used properly is not just do re mi fa so la ti doh. That is but one combination of possibilities. I have not heard him play scales as a practice, but if you pulled your mouth off your asshole, you would understand when you hear someone play (especially in pop music) they're playing the major scale over and using a different combination of those notes making up the major scale.
Three- just because you're selling out stadiums one night in a row or 4 nights in a row does NOT mean you yourself is talented. Michael Jackson could sing, dance and put on a show. Brittney Spears can dance and shake her tits, and put on a show. Clarence could shake his tits and put on a show. But that point is irrelevant to what I was saying...I was talking his playing. Because he shakes his tits does not mean he is any better of a player than someone else and should be selling out stadiums.
When you get to the level of being a star, playing stadiums and filling them up, music is the last thing that needs to be there in order to be famous. Image, dance moves, song writers producing good vehicles for you to butcher, proper promotion and advertising and last is being able to play music.
Over 3/4 of the music you hear on the radio today can't be reproduced live because the musicians are so talentless that it can be, and is, doctored up in the studio. Beyonce was in the studio once and she couldn't sing, so they spliced her tape from multiple takes together to make a song for her. Slash was so strung on heroin that his playing on "Welcome to the Jungle" is barely on it because he was in the corner nodding out and the studio had someone around to play similar to him...so it's him and Slash is barely there. Paul McCartney played drums and guitar on some Beatles albums, Hendrix overdubbed Noel Redding because he didn't like his playing on the last album. All that shines ain't gold.
As for your point about Washington and Sanborn, that's moot. They're big names yet if they trash him they could lose album sales or audience. They could have been (not saying 100% they were) saying that to be diplomatic or politically correct. Again, don't believe everything you read.

Angus Young has done pretty good for someone with little talent... ::)
- As of 2010, AC/DC have sold more than 200 million albums worldwide
- Back in Black has sold an estimated 49 million units worldwide, making it the highest-selling album by any band and the second-highest-selling album in history

a while back, someone commented "AC/DC has made 12 albums that sound exactly the same" to which Brian Jones responded with "no, AC/DC has made 13 albums that sound exactly the same".

Saw the E-Street Band 10-odd years ago, and CC didn't look that good back then -shaky. Bruce did some kind of stage body-slide, the end result (I guess) was to shoot through CC's legs!? Well, it didn't come off right, they collided, and Bruce almost had CC fall down on top of him. Not the way you want to go.

it's actually a great reflection of the quality of the band.

Dude, nobody ever claimed that Clarence was one of the greatest saxophonists of all time haha. He wasn't a child prodigy in his younger years. He played in basically a 3 chord rock band and did what he had to do to make a name for himself. That's all.
-
I hear ya` bro,but some people act like he was the all time greatest........usually because he`s so well known and they don`t know anybody else that plays sax to compare him to.

Yeah, you're right. How popular or beloved one is to the public isn't always proportional to one's talent, but hey that's life. Personality, "image", and being in the right place at the right time count for a lot in the fame game.
-
Damn the guy just passed, no need to compare him just to degrade any greatness he may have possessed...
btw, offseasons ...clearly off season
