All depends on what type of rattler it is. Timber you should be "ok", but you can die--Eastern and Western Diamond backs, be scared...Copperheads, and Cottonmouths (all are pit vipers), be worry as well, but nt as much. Coral Snakes (Red on yellow, kill a fellow), be worried, not to be confused with the King Snake (red on black, venom lack).

ive lived in texas all my life, spend tons of time outdoors, NEVER SEEN A RATTLESNAKE. hell ive spent hours actually looking for them, flipping over rocks, digging through old wood piles, under debris, old sheds/buildings etc...never even seen one.

the great irony is that despite this some kid will be playing on their grass one day and will probably just happen upon one and get bit.

Because y'all virtually have killed the rattlesnake population out there, and have made them quieter---which could mean deadlier. This was done by rounding up all the ones thar you hear, and killing them...by the hundreds of thousands...

great pic, and I like the way it's slightly reared up, yet has it's head back, like it will strike...

Thanks GL. It was angry but not too angry. It was in tall grass and had uneven terrain all around it or I would had tried to pick it up for some close-up pics.

At least the snake never talked him into eating another apple.

Then we'd all be fucked.

shit, the Diamondback is the worst of all viper's venom. the Gaboon and the pit viper are bad too, but the freaking diamond back destroy the tissue. it melt your freaking flesh to the bones. I wouldn't wanna be bitten by that muthafucker. animal planet had a documentary on a couple of people who got bitten a diamondbacks, some of them loose limbs, fingers, feet

I've played golf in New Mexico and the courses have rattlesnake warning signs just off the fairways, which is basically desert. Seen lots of snake moltings, but not one rattlesnake. Oh, and many road runners, which look absolutely nothing like they do in the cartoons.

I was bitten by a viper in my boot, the teeth just went through. I felt a little sting but it didn't penetrate my skin. I took out the boot immediately and waited until the snake went away.
I'm glad I didn't wear my sandals that day.

That was Ireland...Holland wasn't Catholic enough.
