I have no issues with any of them, but anything other than Splenda or the real thing taste funky to me, including Stevia.
Does anyone here ever experience any type of side-effects after consuming certain artificial sweeteners?
I did a quick search and learned that Laura developed some problems from Splenda, specifically, but what about the others?
My friend swears that diet drinks cause her nausea and even partial blindness; although, the blindness sounds like it may have been a one-time occurrence.
Drama queen?
I was having stomach aches and bloat from it and I only use 1 packet per coffee, and only had 2 cups a day. Not much at all. I now use Stevia and have no stomach aches or bloat. And if I can't find any stevia (dinning out) and have to use splenda...I end up the the bloated belly and tummy ache. :(
Why are so many people paranoid over the 15-20 calories in a teaspoon of real sugar? ::)

Truthfully, I haven't researched it. It was simply something she'd told me about a while back and I didn't think about it again until last night.
I just threw it up here to see if it got any hits.
She claims that diet teas, sodas, and other beverages bother her, as do any of the packets of sweeteners that they have on the tables in restaurants.
Here's one thread I found on here last night: http://www.getbig.com/boards/index.php?topic=258669.0

I thought it looked a little different than when I originally posted it.
No prob; I did that once, too, on my board. ;)
Anyway, thanks for the response.
As for my friend, I wouldn’t classify her as a “drama queen,” but she’s had some “issues”/moods/moments, particularly after losing her Mom back in November.
Regardless, she related the sweetener stories to me prior to that.
I’d explained the whole concept of sugar in moderation to her, but she’s begun a crusade to “get healthy” - especially after a legitimate health scare of her own just before her Mom passed.
And, I give her credit: she’s stopped drinking, smoking, living on or eating any garbage foods, and ultimately, distancing herself from most of her friends who regularly engage in those practices.
Finally, she’s also training like a crazy person for a charity bicycle race/run this Fall to raise money for cancer research and treatment.
I’ve noticed a dramatic improvement in her overall attitude and demeanor.

i've never had issues with artificial sweetners. I freebase diet soda. I generally only use splenda as the taste isn't funky. Stevia is nasty as hell.
