there is no way that 355 ever cost 200k, and that guy in the 355 didn't know how to shift, and was shifting too early. In the Temple of Vtec vids, you already know who is gonna win. They always set that shit up. Not that NSX sucks, it doesn't. It was a main inspiration for Gordon Murray when he co-created the Mclaren F1. It was balanced, light, reliable and Kevin Levrone had one  ;D

there is a sense of patriotism when it comes to cars, you see in many tests like these and even "independent" tests...they may handicap one, or bring a Ringer in for another. Fact of the matter is, Japan right now doesn't have too many outright production supercars...only the GT-R and the Lexus LFA, and then  mst of their RWD are from the luxury divisions (Lexus, Infiniti). And some JDM cars. Many don't have the exstensive backcatalog of RWD cars of the Big three, BMW, Mercedes, Opel, Jag, Aston Martin, Porsche.

That doesn't mean anything. I used to beat the 355 with my old Vette C5 with stage 1 mods, still would've taken the Ferrari over it anyday. Funny you'd bring a 90s car in this comparison  ;D

And one last thing, the 355 sounds wonderful and was one if not the only practical Ferrari at that time.

Audi and Pininfarina

This car reminds me of the early 90's when car magazine used to say we'd have flying cars by the millennium . I remember a special feature that had futuristic cars that were supposed to be driven by everyone by the year 2000.

That Impala is ridiculous,  I don't know what would motivate someone to build a set up like that. Im curious if he is running the Allison trans as well. Anyway, I don't know if anyone else here can really understand and appreciate the amount of work that was put into something like this. Not to mention on top of all that, he was able to get it to hook up and get a good launch.

Weird set up but cool nonetheless, makes you say WTF?

Nice Lambo but for a 10th of the cost I'd rather have this 8 second GN and leave the lambo owner in a $120k puddle of tears.

American muscle cars are an investment. That yellow lambo loses 25 grand as soon as you drive it out of the showroom. 35 grand by the time you get it home :-\

Unless its been well taken care of, I wouldn't go near it will a ten foot pole. Esp. if it had over 20K miles. Most of them start out as leases from guys who dump them before the 5k tune up. And those 5k miles are hard driven miles. I' ll take the old America muscle where high school shop teachers could tune it perfectly. :D

this is why living in ita if you buy a used ferrari lambo or maserati you'll be ok: nearby I have at least 5 specialists of these engines.

I asked for an extra key for my previous Ferrari Maranello and they told me they have to change the security system and give me a new "set" of keys, do you know how much it cost? 10 thousand dollars! I walked off and kept my one and only key. Italian cars are a joke when it comes to maintenance, and don't even think about changing the exhaust, the Tubi for the 550 was about 11 thousand dollars at the time   :'( the Corvette was 800!

Yeah because your in Italy, so no problem. I bet theres lots of old Euro car mechanics that know everything about certain makes and models and have copious amounts of parts. If your in the west maintenance for those cars is just cruel, especially if its an older model or its modded. A friend of mine is looking at a $20k engine cooling repair bill for his older Lambo, mechanics around here wont touch it with a 10' pole. They are nightmares to get fixed.

I see Bill, even here is difficult to find someone able to maintain or fix the 12 cylinder boxer of ferrari (the most complicated). I have a 4boxer Lancia and even that can be a bit of a problem.
Don't get me wrong on this, no desrespect but reality: when we're talking usa v8 almost every mecanich here can fix it, they're quite simple

Absolutely, the same guy I mentioned previously had a 12 Boxer and said it broke down more than he drove it. The key is to always stay on top of the maintenance, and make sure you have a good chunk of money to dump into it when something goes wrong.

Take a small block chevy to any mechanic and chances are they'll have no problems figuring it out.

But with the old HEMI, you could read a few books and work on it yourself in your spare time ;) It won't be rocket science like the ferrari/Lambo/maserati.

Lets put it this way---The old America muscle is === to banging Marilyn Monroe.  And the new super cool euro rocket Lambos/ferrari's ===banging Kim Kardashian.

Now who would you really want to bang?

The girl(car) who all the presidents men go gaga for?

Or the girl(car) who all the black football/basketball players go gaga for?

I hope Diesel hot-rodding becomes the new trend.  TONS of potential as evidenced by that Impy.  Most of the popular muscle-cars are out of an ordinary person's price range..................1 st gen camaros, 70.5 camaro, 1st/2nd gen 455 Trans Ams, anything MOPAR, Chevelle, GTO, 65-74 Mustangs.  Many of these cars are in the low six-figure range nowadays.  For someone new in the market, a big-bodied car from the 70s like a Lincoln Town Car/Continental, Caddy El Dorado/Fleetwood, Chrysler New Yorker or an 80s "muscle" car like 3rd gen F-bodies and B-bodies are a sound investment.

The future of hot rodding, maybe?

Diesel hot rodding is stupid. you put diesel engines in tractors and heavy equipment that pull insane amounts of weight, not meant for muscle cars.
