did the 4-door porsche ever catch on? i saw phil heath in a photo with one, have never seen one on the street.
-
phil was actually in that Porsche.. his shear mass prevented the car from its full potential.

I see them all over the place... I think it's ugly as sin, but eh.
I do like the way the noble looks though... and you just have to give all of that engineering in the McLaren it's due.

It sounds horrible and watching it next to these good looking cars, I can't see how anyone would choose the Porsche.

Never heard of a Noble before.

Fuck yeah it did. I was in Atlanta few weeks back and I saw atleast 5 a day just driving around.
Here in Chicago I see a handful all the time.
Wait another 2-3 years when they age and become affordable...they will be a lot more.
Part of me things it is sacrilige to make a 4 door Porsche...but I love the way that thing looks.
But for the money I'd get a Mercedes CL550 in a hearbeat. They're sort of apples and oranges because the benz is about luxury...which makes more sense as a daily driver because it's not like you're going to race a Porsche every fucking day.

That Mclaren is awesome. I've never been a Porsche or most Ferrari fan and I never heard of a Noble before this video.

That is because you do not live in Europe, it is one of the fastest cars on the 'top gear' board.
They put all the best super cars around their test track, & keep a score board of the times.
Ever heard of a Pagani-Zonda??
How about a Koenigsegg??

Here is Michael Schumacher (AKA the Stig), putting the 'Koenigsegg CCX' round the track in epic time!!

Noble, looks good on the outside, very basic on the inside...going off of memory, their previous models used TT Ford V6's, the M600 uses a TT V8. And if you are going to buy one in in the US, I believ they come as kit cars, meaning you have to put them together or hire someone to do it...and i don't think that they meet safety regs (airbags, etc) or emissions as well...

Porsche = overrated

Most racers going to The 'Ring have either a race prepped Porsche or BMW M3, and there is a reason, their history and the way they are set up. BMW won the 24 of Nurburing last yr, and Porsche this...the turbo flat six doesn't sound as nice or as loud as the others....but let's face it, noise is energy...and I just lost my train of thought...

Parker, it's called a track car, FFS!!
The term is stripped out = lighter.
You would not buy a Noble to go to Walmart in.
You buy it to take it to the Nurberg ring in Germany & shit your pants.............

Yeah...i agree, but even the Mclaren has a nice interior (Ferrari as well)...the Brits have the whole track thing sorted out (chassis, etc read up on Manthey Rancing Porsches---Porsch gets him to race the cars on the 'Ring) the Noble is incredible for the price...fit and finish, I know not, so I cannot speak on it. But, I believe, I would have to take my Ford truck to Walmart as Bob and Frank put my Noble together from a "kit"...

don't be so hard on me dude ;)
anyway i'm not middle aged (well past) nor a fu## manager, in any case why you think Porsche for midlife crisis and not Ferrari or Lambirghini or others? is there any particular reason?
-
Yeah...i agree, but even the Mclaren has a nice interior (Ferrari as well)...
The stripped out track versions don't, you are lucky to get carpet ;)

So why was there a 'Top gear' show dedicated to taking the helmet of the Stig, only to reveal Shumi??
Did I miss some-thing??
Consider your-self owned!!

Shumi isn't the stig... At the end of the episode they even did the "or is it?!" bit.
Shumi has never been the stig... The new Stig has yet to ever be revealed, but the previous Stig was in fact Ben Collins.
Whoever the latest Stig is, just happens to be the best of all of the bunch... He is absolutely FANTASTIC and puts both Collins and McCarthy to shame.
"The identity of the original 'Black' Stig, Perry McCarthy, was exposed by a Sunday newspaper after the first series of the show, in January 2003. McCarthy confirmed that he was 'The Stig' in the second edition of his autobiography, published following series two, and is now generally acknowledged as having been the first Stig, even by BBC media. The second Stig's identity was revealed, in his own autobiography, as Ben Collins, a professional racing driver who has participated in Formula Three, Indy Lights, sportscars, GT racing, stock cars & V8 Supercars."

Ich they disqualified due to the tires-the car only comes with race tires, as it "race car" that doesn't race in any FIA sanctioned events. It was built as a rolling project. Owners would give feedback to Ferrari. And the cars were stored at Maranello. My guess Schumi had to get special permission from Ferrari to have the car on topgear, but only on condition that he was allowed to drive it.
Remember, when Tiff used to be on TP? There was a episode where he was in a Ferrari F1 car, due to the fact that nobody was qualified to drive one.
-
You are insane to consider any car over the Mclaren. It's pedigree is absolutely unmatched- you can bet if you have the chance to drive all of these cars you would choose the Mclaren. It's what I would buy, if I were able to...
