Why the smith machine seated press?
Why not just do the standing barbell?
Im assuming this is done for the fans, so wouldn't it make sense to use something that will actually look impressive.

On second thought maybe this is better, since most pro's wouldn't be able to get more than 5 reps with their own bw using full reps on the standing barbell version.

Because the seated is easier to see a controlled movement, whereas the standing leaves more room for arching the back, using the legs, etc...

150 pound guy deadlifts 300 pounds. 350 pound guy deadlifts 700 pounds. Seems fair.

True, but how many times have you seen someone turn a seated press into an incline press. I just think that even with leg drive and arching of the back, the standing barbell press is a more accurate measurement of pressing strength. Cause' that's what this is about isn't it?
By the way I think think that the pound for pound idea is pretty interesting, I just hope it's not like the 225lb bench press
challenge  where everyone was allowed to get away with half reps.

In regards to the Smith Machine seated press. Are you going to round up, or round down the number of spotters?

I hate the stipulations Bob. I have tried squatting in the smith machine and I hate it. Shoulder presses sure, bench presses hell no. The human body was not designed to lift in a fixed range of motion like that. It's very unnatural.

Yes, anyone can get an NPC card, it is for membership in the amatuers, not the IFBB Pros.

This is a good event, and yes, the smaller bodybuilder, like Derek Farnsworth, can do very well in this event.

Every time, every time bodybuilders arrange a lifting competition the judging will be propostorous.

Chick, during your pro career how often did you bench press, deadlift, and squat?  And is it true that your favourite shoulder pressing movement was on the cybex machine?
