How intense are you?
When you go on a 1-3 week vacation, do you give your body and mind the full rest and relaxation they deserve by not touching any weights or even indulging in any form of exercise regimen?
OR
Are you a true GetBigger who while even on a 1-week vacation, will make sure that your hotel has proper gym facilities and a wide stretch of beach in case you also want to supplement your weight routine with a little running in the sand and possible swimming laps?
Do you feel guilty while on vacation for not eating properly? Does your body feel as if it is going into a catabolic state when you stay off the weights for more than 5 days?
Which one do you fall under? Why?

I workout harder on vacation.I go to florida for 2 weeks every april and lift 12 out of 14 days. Then i go to vegas in august for 7 days and lift everyday. Its motivating to be in a different gym in a different place.
-
LOL. I totally got this one. I always plan to keep active and healthy on my trips, but as soon as I get to the airport and have a few cocktails that plan is forgotten like it never happened.

This is exactly what happens to me.
I make a mental note to make sure that I will keep to my diet and at least workout 2-3 times during a 1-2 week vacation for maintenance purposes, but it never happens.

I've walked into a hotel gym, started working out, said "what the fuck am I doing lifting on vacation ??? ::)",and walked out within 15 minutes plenty of times.
-
Usually work out for the first day or two ~ maybe 3. After that screw it!
;D

yeah, on my last vacation the gym was between our room and the hotel lobby, so i'd walk by there a few times a day and see some old Euros in speedos and leopard skin print spandex working out. not my scene.

I take a lay off from training for about 1-2 weeks about 3 times a year, so I just time it with any vacation trip I may have.
I just eat normal like always, maybe even less protein since I don't train.
-
Like 1-2 weeks out of the year makes any difference!
Edit: Answer is no, if I'm away on a trip. Never done it. I go on a full out eating and drinking orgie.
But like now I have two weeks of just being home with no parties, then I workout since I don't have much else to do.

no fucking way, it's a vacation.
if I go to cuba or whatever, I drink, eat, swim and fuck
that's the only 4 thins I am doing.
no "visiting the city" either, it pisses me off ;D

Exactly.
That or you don't want to be seen in there as the only idiot wasting precious vacation time fraternizing with a set of weights.

I once tried training on holiday back in '04 - there was an outdoor gym with a roof for shade at the Sandals resort in Antigua and I attempted to have a workout in it - trouble was that the temperature was in the 90s and the humidity was ridiculous - I gassed out within about 15 minutes of starting and I couldn't lift shit - my pundages were down about 20% on my UK lifts! I took that as a message never to train again whilst on vacation and since then I've never gone near a gym when abroad.
Actually, another story about that particular workout - the only other guy using the gym at the same time as me that day was an American guy who had a much better build than me and to be fair I was quite impressed with his physique - we didn't talk or anything so I didn't find anything out about him but four years later I was at the 2008 Olympia Expo and I saw him working at one of the booths. Small world eh?
-
Yes, I'm more motivated to lift while on vacation because I'm not working hard all day. Lot of ass sitters in this thread.
we didn't talk or anything

while i was on vacation, i stalked a woman who i saw in the gym, and then later married her.
-
And then?
-
And then?
and now i have a hot latina wife. ;D (all because i decided to hang 'n bang on my trip to colombia.)
-
Bet she hates the "Oh, you're from Columbia? How much for an 8ball?" jokes.
So seriously, how much?

I saw you walking by,why didn't you come in and say hi ???
-
fuck no.
-
no not if its one week 2 weeks than yes
-
When I go on vacation, I tend to drink heavily. Working out the morning after helps with the hangover. And I don't have to worry about all the crap I'm shoving down my gullet.
-
I sure do, not as intense but I make sure I get some pumps, makes me feel and sleep better, not to mention exercises makes me a better sexual performer. And oh I actually enjoy lifting weights, hope this helps.
-
If you have access to a gym nearby then I dont see the reason to not workout..if not that seriously, at least "maintenance" workouts.

This. Life is short. I am not a pro... vanity only goes so far. ::)

yeah whenever anybody asks her where she's from, after she replies "Colombia", the immediate reaction is always about cocaine or Pablo Escobar . . . and she hates hearing that. nothing bothers her more. haha

Always make the plan: pushups, pullups, running. End up drinking too much beer. After vacation strenght is back in 2 weeks, what's the problem... 8)

as if it would matter for us if we dont train for a few weeks. we continue to look the same every year, seriously get a grip
