So I'm actually not in good shape?
I've never been able to run... lol

Ability to run develops only by running.
Start it and keep doing it. I mean not for week but for a year!!! You will see sum' serious development.
All the best for you and your hopefully new form of cardio, running!

Are your legs long or short compared to your torso? If they are long: you can run well, have a low center of gravity, always land on your feet, are a good candidate to be a good athlete...
However, if they are short compared to your torso: You run slow no matter how well you are conditioned, you are top heavy, tend to land on your head when you try to be a gymnast, not a good candidate for competitive athletics.
A University of Houston physical education teacher explained that to me when I asked him that very question...

That's interesting, thank you. I think I'm pretty balanced, if I had to choose I'd say I'm on the long legged side. I've never been athletic/coordinated) although I have decent genetics.
For a man, I have an ass. Even lean, my ass is large, muscular and it holds fat. Wonder if that's related?

And this is precisely why Asians are absolutely horrible at Track and Field.

too much dbol

Maybe you are too heavy. I am tall and weigh alot, and running bothers my knees and lower back. I still run, I am running a half marathon labor day, but it does bother me. I suggest getting some good shoes, and when you run, just keep going. Once I get to a mile, I am good.

YOU CANT RUN BECAUSE YOU ARE IN A DREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Roads don't move when you stand still. Treadmills do.
Running on a treadmill < real running.

Exactly. The machines are probably made to be easier to get more gym customers as well.

Stresses on ankles, knees hips. Joints can only take so much pounding before they say "fuck it..I'm done"

Running is so fundamental to much of athletics. Just think of how many sports where running is part of training. Soccer, Football, boxing, wrestling, and so many other sports are involved in using running to stay in shape. The military both the regular soldiers and elite forces rely on running.
Most people who hate running are just out of shape. They try to run then their unconditioned body just gets injured due to being out of shape. It becomes a catch 22. I'm trying to run but I can't because my knees, back and ankles can't take it. They would be better off walking fast until they are conditioned to run.
I think for the overwhelming majority of athletes that sprint intervals and some type of distance will assist a lot of athletes become better.
One of the best ways to become a runner is actually a walking program that I came up with on the treadmill that I have used with success on myself and others. First see a doc to make sure you don't keel over from a heart attack or other problems. I walk at 3.8 MPH on a zero % grade for 400 meters. The standard lap distance in track and most treadmills. Every completed 400 meter lap I increase the grade by 1%. Keep going up until shot then finish off with a final lap of 0% grade cool down. If you can go from zero to around 12% grade and back down to 0% in this walking workout you should be in good cardio shape and ready to surprise yourself in how well you now can run.

Try finding a nice trail with soft gravel, concrete or asphalt can be very hard on the knees.
