One of the few Stones songs I like (2nd only to "Under My Thumb" which is #1 because it is about women knowing their place)

Agreed. Most of their songs leave me cold. "Satisfaction"...oh, brother. ::)

What the hell was wrong with Keith's guitar on that song? It sounds like a busted vacuum.

Best Stones song indeed. Greatest record of all time when I'm in the Stone-Zone..

Paint it black, aka The theme song for Tour of Duty, is the only thing I heard from them that I think is genuinly good and rocks.
-
Terrible and WAY overrated band. Keith is truly a hack player and Mick is a prancing nancy. Oh, and nice drummer.
-
Yes! Great old song. I love the tripped out way it begins.
There's a certain version out there in file sharing software, it's from 1973 and it's live. It has MicK Taylor on lead (the guy who came after Brian Jones and before Ronnie Wood). Unbelievable sound. This one version is what influenced all the heavy metal guitar style that came afterward from other bands. It's almost impossible to believe it's a Stones song when you're listening to it.

Agree. I can listen to this song for hours, and hear something new every time. From the edgy violent/call for peace lyrics to Merry's sublime vocals. Just brilliant. This was the Stones at their louchest, their most swaggering, the most hide-your-daughters-away best.

Gimme Shelter has one of the best intros of all time..

"Can't You Hear Me Knocking" and "Tumbling Dice" are two of grooviest, bluesiest songs ever to me. Can't get enough.

/saw the jays take it up the ass from the yankees b-team yesterday. woulda thrown my empties on the field 'cept i was so far back. >:(

Tumbling Dice is another great one. I remember reading something in one of their biographies, about the incredible transformations that song made from something completely different, many times over including several sets of lyrics, into what became Tumblin' Dice.
Kinda cheapens it (just a little), but I guess that's Rock and Roll for ya. lol

It gets no love but I have "Undercover of the Night" on my ipod.

Paint it black is their best song imo.

in moderation, they're great, but it's fucking painful to sit through some of their post 70's albums.
