Looks like they're focusing more on the origins and background of Spiderman, same as Batman Begins did for Batman. Not surprising, since this is a reboot.
Nails, Peter Parker is supposed to be a twink anyway.

Love the computer generated running... hell why even bother writing scripts anymore. Lets just computer generate them as well and insert Twink 1 and Twink 2 as the main characters. That seems to be the new formula for hollywood these days. Don't even bother creating anything new anymore. Just rewrite every comic book character's story and star a twink.

They're actually rebooting the entire Spiderman franchise and this is the first movie of the series. They had plans to make a 4th Spiderman with Tobey M, but it got scrapped.
Seems to be the times of reboot. Superman: Man of Steel coming out late next year is also a reboot of the Superman franchise.

I had a huge comic collection back in the day, and I enjoyed a lot of the characters that Marvel Comics created. But enough with the comic book movies. They are beginning to become downright annoying. >:(

I had a huge comic collection back in the day, and I enjoyed a lot of the characters that Marvel Comics created. But enough with the comic book movies. They are beginning to become downright annoying. >:(
Lots of people feel that way, but superhero movies are big cash cows and the current generation probably wants to see younger actors from their generation doing the roles in newer movies that have far better CGI than the older movies (80s and before). So I doubt Hollywood is going to give up on making more of these flicks anytime soon.
Fans of the comics always complain, but the producers are more interested in profits than sticking to every little twist and turn from the comics. Movies shouldn't just be a "simple" extension of comics anyway.

I'd like to note that readin' comic books as a child is what motivated me to life weights. Matter of fact, at 27 yo I still lift weights so I, too, can be as big as my fav. superheroes. Sounds kinda gay, but hey, that's what I've always wanted. Lol. I think I was bigger than Spiderman at 5 months old though. ;D

Exactly, Marvel and DC have a whole back catalog of characters that they could "exploit". Not to Mention that Image/Wildstorm, Top Cow have ones that could do well, like The Darkness, Witchblade, The First, etc.

There are a bazillion characters, but how many of them are actually big money... Hell, Green Lantern should have been a monster at the box office... It was lack luster to say the least.

Much like Robert Downey Jr pulled off Iron man and Norton is a good Hulk, they can act and have proven it before.
Not sure why they chose Brandon Routh as the new Superman for the reboot other than that he looked the part. I think he was a male model before or something like that...

A lot of people have heard of Apocalypse actually. Spiderman was on my lunchbox, doesn't mean anyone wants to see him flailing around getting his ass kicked until the last possible second every single movie.

The problem is sometimes the characters and the actors that portray them. Jonah Hex is a old school Western type---that genre is kinda played out, unless you do it dark and gritty. One could do Priest or Sandman---with a dark supernatural edge and win praise. WW hulk could be done as well. The Darkness is ripe for this era-sex, violence, mafia, and supernatural rolled up into one---but it must be done by someone who understands the genre and willing to push the envelope.
One can go villian route and do a Magneto or Sabretooth film---they are already planning Venom. Nightwing is good as well---use a young, handsome actor with charisma would be appropriate.
Elfquest would be hard to do, though
