Title: Why does the media insist on speaking for Americans?

I keep hearing the media saying that Americans just want a deal to get done to raise the debt ceiling.  Although many polls have shifted slightly do to Obama's fear mongering, most polls show roughly 50% of the population still does not want to raise it at all.  Why does the media get angry at Washington when they are finally doing the will of the people?

buy or start your own newspaper or get yourself a talk radio program and you, too, can speak for America.
