and i must say, i'm quite excited about it :D
piranha 3d - an awesome throwback to those fantastic 80s horror movies, with an over abundance of everything you looked for when picking a video in the good old days of the video library and 'mom and pops video store'. ie, blood, gore tits, tits, tits :P

i see on those bluray forums that some idiots buy every movie on blu, good or bad ::)
i can't afford that shit, nor would i want too anyhow..
i want films that i like and have a lot of re-watch value. hence the above! or are thorough favourites of mine that i want in my collection.
so my blu collection now stands at 1 ;D what about the rest of you guys???
-
Got ironman 2 free with my ps3 and my sister got me the dark knight last Christmas
Haven't watched either tbh
-

I have a huge collection of Blu Ray movies....
But I mean.... thats your first blu ray? lol Look at the Dark Knight! Sin City! Ironman! Tron! etc :-)
Some of the best looking movies on Blu Ray that I have are those listed above, as well as the Spiderman Trilogy, 300, The Notebook (yeah yeah yeah), Transformers, Predator, Just to name a few!
-

Also the new Star Trek!

what's wrong with it ??? it's great fun. and as i've said, i'll only buy films with plenty of re-watch value and films i want in my collection..
not that i don't want the batman movies eventually.. just wait 'til they're cheaper thats all..
mind you!! i'll be ordering this next.. and at a whopping 18 fucking quid :o
i want the cool steel though so worth it 8)

Bluray high definition is very good,...It's like the difference between am and fm radio...Are you using a HDMI cable to connect to the tv?...If you want to have a lot of distance between the player and the tv, you can use a HDMI "extender" to link the two...There are issues with having a very long HDMI cable,...It's better to make use of an extender.
-
It's embarrassingly shit
Picture on blu ray is probably good though
-
Why dont you just download the bluray movie?

Hey man to each their own - I'll be honest I haven't watched that Piranna 3D movie, so I'm not one to talk! But there are a ton of movies out there that feel like they were made for Blu Ray!
I also have Avatar that looks great!
I too will be getting Fast Five on Blu Ray when it comes out, just saw it recently, and it was the best Fast and Furious out there, I was never a crazy faun of the series, but that last one was definitely lots of fun!

yes, hdmi and surround sound n all that bullshit
funny thing is...! just as i'm catching up tech wise.. now its fucking 3d telly's and players coming out, lol ::)
and get this! a charity shop in town had all its vhs videos outside in a box with a sign saying 'free'.. god i was tempted ;D
they've now got a sign on the door say 'we no longer accept videos' :'(
-

Good man!!!
Hold off on the 3D TV's - in a year or two the Glasses-Free models will be coming out. Toshiba has already presented their prototypes at the last CES and they got fairly positive feedback!
-
I have the Ps3 with Onkyo receiver and 5.1 Polk Lsi Surround sound, BUT i don't invest in Blu-Rays because my Current Projector only does 720P ... Also from what i have read, not worth getting any Blu-Ray movie before they were filmed with HD cameras
If the movie was produced on 35mm film,...it will be high definition on bluray!! In fact I saw Casablanca on bluray,...it's worthwhile.

Snag 'em!!!...not everything will be reissued on Bluray high definition!!

it's great.. a proper film to watch with the lads.. (or in my case my ol lady :-\) with a few beers and pizzas..
-

i do, i'm a serial downloader.. but if the movie is one i like, then i'll buy it on dvd when its dirt cheap ;D
-
Snag 'em!!!...not everything will be reissued on Bluray high definition!!
i know, but alas, we have no room for those big bastard videos.. i gave hundreds away a couple of years ago.
plus, i don't mind downloading vhs rips.. once, i even tried to adjust the tracking on a film burnt to disc ;D ;D ;D
-

One of the best movies on Bluray is 2001: A space odyssey, and thats from 1968, its visually stunning.
I have that as well as Casablanca on bluray!
-
Heavens above,...that B&W cinematography on Casablanca is stunning...and the "Rembrandt" shots.

blu was made for the classics 8)
shall we argue over film grain instead of oiled musclemen ?? ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

When does Fast Five come out on Blue Ray? Also like some have already said, 300 and Avatar are must haves on Blue Ray
-
Piranha 3d was atrocious. If you wanna see Piranha, buy the original version which is also on Blu-Ray. ;)
I have not seen that cover in this country, but i am looking to order it from the U.K.
I am a collector. 8)

why avatar? its crap. i must admit that i regret not seeing it on the big screen in 3d just for the awesome effects.. the film itself though is not worth adding to any collection.. imo

It's good to watch the special effects special parts... Aside from that, it's junk.

The W.C. Fields film "Its a Gift" is very well restored,...I haven't seen it on Bluray but I have seen it from a 35mm print at a cinema,...it was the first classic film I went to see at a cinema and I was shocked at how sharp and how much detail is in the images,...our grandad's technology worked better than we give it credit for.

Your right about the story, it mainly to show-off what Blue-ray can do.

I am waiting for the Spielberg classics but i have heard things as to why he does not want them released on Blu-Ray. >:(
the first three indiana Jones films and Jaws.

Film grain is distinctly different than pixels,...pixels are lined up in rows and columns,...film grain is randomly distributed in the image making silver halide images look unique.

i've got the original on dvd.. i like it a lot but its not worth an upgrade. the remake pisses all over it to be honest.. its just that good.. 8)
'humanoids from the deep' would be money well spent on a blu upgrade though...
-

yes, and when left on restored film classics (or removed) .. it sends the blu community into near fucking meltdown ::)
those for - old dudes, film buffs and those that know what their on about.
those against - the playstation generation, and ther lust for super sharp and clean hd images..
makes a feud over 'who was better? ronnie or dorian?' look like a girl guides tea party :D

I would like to see "Maxium Overdrive" on Blu-Ray. 8)
The Slumber Party Massacre needs to be on Blu-Ray along with the Summer Camp movies.

Yea, i go there to see what people say before i purchase a few. I am waiting on "Jaws". 8) I mean, they put out "The Fog" from 77-78 and look how many people bought that....now, just think about the "Jaws" franchise and the Indiana Jones franchise. 8) I mean, they put out "Troll 2" on Blu-Ray for god's sake. :D

I have over 200 Blurays, the best ones are definitely the newest ones with the crisp special effects and the Dolby TrueHD audio that blows up my surround sound and shakes the floor!
-
Sometimes I rent blue-rays and they don't work, I have to exchange them for reguar. I have no Idea why.

Whay model is your blu ray player? Does it have the latest firmware?
I had to upgrade the firmware in my blu ray player for some movies that I was having problems with, but afterwards they played fine.
-
It's a pioneer, about 3years old, maybe that's what I need, thanks.

Check the pioneer website, find your model number and check to see if there is a firmware you can even just google search your model number and see what comes up.
