Less familiar with Canadian history/politics/geography than they are that of Germany, Russia, England, France, China, Japan etc. Canada being our northern neighbor, you would think it would be a different story.

lol i dont think they have those.
which reminds me, when i was in college, i was in a poli sci class, and very first class, they were talking about Chretien or whatever his name was, and it took me a good 40 minutes to realize they were talking about the current pm. all the nerds and the professor were cracking jokes, while i just sat there like a hung over turd.

I went to Canada once..They were like ''America has so many problems''.. I said ''ya because we have people.'' Then they were like ''you dont know anything about our prime minister'' I'm like ''ya cuz I dont know who they fuck he is''.

We have a prime minister, 'tards. Not a president.
And it is shameful how little you USAers know about much of anything beyond your borders. Well, some here on this board are educated, so I shouldn't paint with such broad strokes, but certainly the average US citizen is a tool when it comes to ... a lot.
I have lived three times in the USA for work reasons and never didn't encounter the types I describe. One fella asked me if Canada was a country. He thought our provinces were countries within a "European-like" area. Another bright young person, when asked who is the leader of Canada, responded, Well, it's President Obama, right?
Canada is an arctic nation with a mere fraction of the population of the US (a majority of Canada is unhospitable to human living). Despite what many maps suggest in visual representation, my country is significantly larger in land area than is the USA.
I love my country, but likely, like many of the US citizens on this board, I hate my government. Corrupt as all get out. Like yours.

Terrance and Phillip, gsp

Our Queen Elizabeth 2 is the head of state in Canada, Australia and many other countries.
Canada is therefore still a British colony.

Maybe you have paid attention in school.

The reason being:
1. the rest of the world isn't that important. I mean seriously, the world revolves around America and what America does.
2. most people here have hectic lives that involve long work hours, long commutes, etc. the last they want to do when they get home is to read up on bullshit world affairs, no one gives a fuck about. they'd rather just avoid their wife, run to the basement, rub one out, and go to bed.

And you don't think there are Canadians that express a total lack of knowledge about anything American? Christ, you and all 2,200 of your fellow Canadians just don't understand that no one in the U.S. gives a shit what you think. If we wanted your opinion we'd deliver it in a care package.
And you haven't had a decent PM since Pierre Trudeau.

Maybe you have paid attention in school.
I did, I'm extremely knowledgeable about the world.
We didn't learn shit about Canada in School (and College), for whatever reason.
I can tell you that Vilnius is the capital city of Lithuania, but I'd be hard pressed to tell you how many territories are in Canada.
-
I'd imagine rather than being concerned with knowledge and history of their immediate northern neighbours, they're more concerned with the lands that provided the people that gave rise to the country they live in.
-
And you haven't had a decent PM since Pierre Trudeau.
It was Pierre Trudeau that made Canada Officially bilingual, Dieffenbaker that kept Canada from having nuclear weapons on Canadian soil.
