What ya put up? I did 182.5 kg for 1 and 120kg for 20 last week. This week gonna be more moderarte gonna try 4 sets of 12 at 130.
-
judging by how you look in the pics I put your max around 230 lbs .. am I close?
-
no 405lbs, i could do 230 for about 28.
-
im weak as shit on bp but i still have a relatively full chest.
-
no 405lbs, i could do 230 for about 28.
isn't that you in the pic with the blonde whale?
-
Thats my gorgeous wife!!!!
-
your mom
-
I do 200 for 12
2 plates for 8-10
2 plates and half for 6-8
3 plates for 3-4.
my real numbers. Yes im weak as shit on bench but who cares. ;D :D
-
done 515 before, haven't done anything over 400 in the last 2 year, last chest workout 365 for 6, 130s for 12 incline
-
your mom
for 12 :D
-
Currently benching 275 for 6 followed by 220 for 12 - nothing special considering I'm heading for the health look these days.
My best is 350 for 6 but that was " supplement assisted" ;)
-
I don't bench at all anymore. It makes my shoulders tight and prone to injury. I think benching is for young guys. I can name four 400lbs plus benchers I know who now in their late 40's cannot bench anything due to pec/shoulder injuries.
Benching is inherently a bad range of motion for the joint making it tight in my opinion. I notice when I use a hammer strength bench machine everyone has the same starting point instead of the thickness of their torso. How many fat guys have what seems to be a really short range of motion from the chest. Most heavy benchers can't push heavy weight on the hammer strength due to the handles being lower than what they are use to.

Ron should ban clowns asking this question

185 for a strict 3......205 for 1 with gear
-
185 for a strict 3......205 for 1 with gear
with or without a benchshirt ;D
-
Did 285 for 6 clean reps last week pretty good for me. I have real long arms.
-
I did 225 for 10 last week...trying for more today. Could do 15 last year as I was rehabbing a distal bicep tendon reattachment...currently rehabbing a broken humerus with ongoing median nerve neuropathy. I used to be able to do 315 for 10 when I was a bit younger and not as prone to stupid accidents that lead to surgery.
I'm almost 50...should I just say fuck it and start golfing?
-
My max was
225 lbs X 12
350 lbs X 1
Not that impressive, cause it was at my heaviest when I weighed 260 lbs.
I'm 225 lbs right now, and haven't really flat benched in a long time!
-
315 for 6 on my fourth working set. Haven't maxed in years.
-
done 225X 25 when I was 196 or so. max around 365. 315X3 without gear.
now be lucky to get 275, rotators f*cked.
-
315 one rep (not on AAS/gh).
-
I can do the 50lb rods on the Bowflex.....yeah, i'm pretty jacked.
-
with or without a benchshirt ;D
1 medium abercrombie shirt
-
185 for a strict 3......205 for 1 with gear
lmao ;D
-
185 for a strict 3......205 for 1 with gear
thats incredible..

Flat bench press has become an ego lift instead of a pec builder. some guys won't live unless they bench press week in and week out
-
310lbs was all i can muster up for a rep, nowadays maybe 225lb for a few reps
-
Being a competitive bench presser, yes for sure the bench has become a major ego lift. People cheat like crazy then justify it in their minds that that is their max bench press. Never has such a basic exercise been butchered by so many people. Let’s discuss what the delusional do:
1. Having the spotter’s hands on the bar is not a bench press. Don't give me the it's for safety crap either, he's helping you out period as if you can handle the weight, you don't need his hands there for anything but a liftoff. Sure it's fine for a forced rep or two if that is your thing, but it doesn't count as a bench press max.
2. Touch your chest or it's not a bench press. Generally the heavier the weight gets, the less close to the chess the bar gets. No need to explain except to say don't even try the it's bad for your shoulders excuse. The equivalent of the pussy I can't go deep on the squat because it's bad for my knee's excuse.
3. Butt comes off, often way off the bench. Simply not a bench press and will get you redlighted in 100% of all powerlifting meets.
4. Over bouncing the bar, actually don't see this one much anymore as most people don't even bother to touch their chest.
I like the bench because it works well for me and I'm strong at it. Not everyone is built for it and many will get better results doing other exercises. It isn’t required for a big chest but it can sure help. However if you are going to do it, don't do it for ego and do it right.

What's considered a good raw lift (competitive maybe) for someone who's 49 and weighs 220? Raw.
-
I hope to hit a raw and ultra-tight and clean 425 in my meet come October. Drug-free, of course.
-

Low #400's is the American Raw Masters record(50-59 years old).
220 402 Ernie Nagy USPF 1980
The Masters Raw World is only few pounds past that too.
-
The best raw and drug-free pressers are doing between 450 and 550.
-
read bible gh15 says you never need over 2 plates a side on incline :D
I only do incline now, and never go over 2 plates a side. ..and suprise suprise my chest is my best bodypart. :D
oh yeah I forget/

Look at evan centiaponti he could bench 405 for 8 and his chest still sucks ass. Only a fool tries to kill themselves with heavy weights. Drugs are all that matters. Drugs and calories of course.

402??
-
Over 15 years ago, I realized that the bench press did not really help much by way of chest development and that, if anything, my triceps and shoulders were the only parts getting bigger.
Since then I've only used dumbbells for incline and flat presses and the results have been phenomenal.
I have also seen MANY shoulder and chest injuries due to the bench press. The exercise will make you stronger, make no mistake, but it doesn't make your chest look any better, at least in my opinion.
Ego lifting can cost you in the long run...
"1"
-
402??
Most of those odd numbers are because kilos are used instead of lbs in most competitions.
-
When I was younger, sets of 405 for 10,8,6. I never went heavier, didn't want an injury.
-
-
402??
Yeah, as mentioned Kgs. #220 is an interesting class, #198 is more competitive with Dave Ricks being in it, He's a beast with a #446 American Masters Raw Bench Record.
-
What is it with you and the war, Tito ?
-
Oh I understand the odd number It was just the weight.
-

I find it the total opposite in that most won`t touch a bench press for fear of exposing a fragile ego. Instead, they make up some excuse of why they only do Dumb Bells or they feign a shoulder injury all because they feel insecure.
-
Havent done flat bench in years
All incline, decline, dumbbells for chest
-
400lbs
-
bout 350
-
185 for a strict 3......205 for 1 with gear
Thats not my numbers
-
Im virtually forced to bench as i train at home. Im 6'1 230 which make me fairly lengthy. My best is 315 for 7 or 275 for 12

tbombz
::)
a bigger muscle is a stronger muscle.
that doesnt mean you have to lift super heavy weight
it just means that as you grow you have to lift heavier in order to get the same effect
-
You keep telling yourself that tbombz.
-
I can hit 500lb twice on a good day- goal is to get it four clean controlled reps.
-
You keep telling yourself that tbombz.
wow, mr wanna- be trainer thinks one can gain optimally and lift the same amount of weight year in and year out
-
wait.....what does my bitch press?
-
When I get asked that in real life my answer is always
Enough to get my chest as it is
-
When I get asked that in real life my answer is always
Enough to get my chest as it is
Better answer: 'All of it.' ;)
-
Hahaha, wannabe trainer, lol. I made over 250k last year being a "wannabe" hahaha.
-
You keep telling yourself that tbombz.
If 1 guy has a big chest and another a small, then the guy with a small chest can bench more, their is no rule if your chest is big you sre strong, absolutely not,,,,,,,,,,however if chest grows over the period of 12 months by 30% say, obviously the added muscle on the chest would contribute to a stonger muscle, if my arms grow from 16 to 18 then my arms will be stronger, common sense, I think that's what T-bombs is trying to say.

^^ see.. complete idiots.

LOL...ok tbombz, then explain to be why I could bench more than gus rethwich at 180 than he could at 320. Fucking retard. That's just ONE example, would you like a million more?
-
Sorry Coach but you have a "limited" range of motion. ;D
-
You have no idea who he is do you? Here's a hint....google "Gus Rethwich powerlifting" and Gus Rethwich Running man".

really? you looked huge in ur pix bro lol, or maybe it's been a long time since i saw those pix in the bible.
-
so much goes into a good bench than just size...you cant really equate the two...
tbombz was adamently argued that the lats played no role in bench pressing...
that right there should tell you all you need to know about him ;)
-
LOL...ok tbombz, then explain to be why I could bench more than gus rethwich at 180 than he could at 320. Fucking retard. That's just ONE example, would you like a million more?
Bro you are not understanding what he is saying....read my last post above, he means a biggermuscle in relation to yourself, you can't compare 1 person's size muscle and strength against another person because muscle is only 1 contributing factor, tendons, ligaments, joints, energy levels, and even mentality comes into play in a lift, if and only if all these factors are equal then the bigger muscle will lift more, this is only logic, strength being the primary role of a muscle.
-
Hahaha, wannabe trainer, lol. I made over 250k last year being a "wannabe" hahaha.
and you don't want to do a show due to the cost of PREP? even if prep was 10000 grand, shit aint nothing for you lol
-
in defense of tbombz, heavyass weight does build muscle, to a certain degree. I think what heavy weight training will add "more" to the muscle than a bodybuilder who ONLY lifts light.
-
oh and btw, last time I maxed was 405 for 1 rep.
hardly benching these days though, shit is brutal on my joints. for some reason incline barbell isn't so bad ???
Incline barbell is 365 for 1 :D
-
Fitness4life....doesn't mean I want to lose money. Even if I win...I lose. LOL.

NO!! you walk away with more. why do people spend thousands on a cruise to europe and back? they eat shit, they're on a boat, they finally get to see some europeans and a landmark or two. then repeat that shit on the way back. But it's saying you been there. winning something is better. or am I crazy for feeling this is better, I really don't think so.

any other way to live is called being miserable
-
That means I would lose 10k...but if I re-invested that 10k into my biz I would make make money and not lose....you forget I have a family to protect and take care of.

hey coach,,you better give tbomz a pass on this he wont know any bettter trust me,,,,guys a idiot when it comes to building muscle,,,you maybe hormonized,,,but you got muscle and know what strength and muscle is
-

Not necessarily.
I can see what you're saying and it is true to an extent but doesn't there become a point of diminishing returns when it comes to lifting heavier to stimulate more size?
-
I do full range of motion dips with 950 additional pounds securely attached to my person for 20 reps once per week.

that picture is fucked lol
-
A good technique I use lately with success..
I load the bar with the max weight I can do, unrack the bar, bring it down slowly to the neck...let it sit for a while on my throat until I turn purple and then with an explosive rep rack it back.
works wonders.

But I don't know what you are wearing ;D

LOL...I love that movie. Besides, is it any worse that a 21 kid with hardly any knowledge of training calls someone who's been doing this for 35 + years a 'wannabe"?
-
210 x2
Ah well everybody starts somewhere i guess.
Bench hurts my shoulders a lot though so if anybody got some advice to push heavier without injury i'm all ears.
-
His vids are funny sometimes..
Haha, good comparison.
Yes, he's entertaining, like a bodybuilder should be.
