Yes Phil is very personable intelligent and articulate ... Mr o material all the way
But is it right for anyone over the age of 14 to wear their baseball cap backwards
:-\
-
He's actually wrong. Standing slightly more upright puts the lats in a mechanically stronger position.
-
i like how bodybuilders say one thing, and then do totally the opposite when they workout, he said i do almost a 90 deg bent over, he is practically standing while rowing

Ha exactly, the way he demonstrates it is fine, the way he recommends doing it; not so much.

You need to listen, he said 45 Degree, not 90, and he is bent over at possibly that angle.

He says "You want to be more than 45 degrees, more like 60 to almost 90"....

"the gift" oh brother. who is making up these foolish nicknames?

He really has got to stop introducing himself as "Phil Heath; The Gift", it's seriously lame.

Ask the one who ever first called Down Hill "big" :-\ :-X
-
haha it tells a lot about this stupid industry
-
he also mentions stopping for a 2 second squeeze at the top, which he doesnt do ::)
-

"The Gift" ::)
Worst nickname EVER. I'd be embarrassed.
-
Forearms look huge, he's got that scary black guy with light eyes thing going on.
Jay " The Rabbit"
-
All staged, once the camera is off he performs those rows his way, and slams the weight once he's finished
-
He says "You want to be more than 45 degrees, more like 60 to almost 90"....
"Which is it Phil? How many notches?" he also mentions stopping for a 2 second squeeze at the top, which he doesnt do ::)
2 secs in Phil heath land is different from 2 seconds in the land of mere mortals.
-

Translation - it doesn't really matter what angle, the drugs are what do the work.

Actually, I 've seen a transition in Phil---from doing back exercises in the smith machine to incorporated more free weight movements...Seems like he is getting more serious
-

Funny I do not consider it much of a lat movement...more inner/upper back.
-
Do people do this exercise outside of videos? I feel like bodybuilders do it for the camera because they can put so much weight nd make themselves look strong, but stick to machines with lower weight when the camera is off.

How is t-bar more "free weight" than smith? Think about it. :D
If that's what you meant?

Glass had Flex doing it---of course that was back in 93, Ronnie Coleman did them---and I think most of the Texas Crew---it's a taxing, yet fun movement...hence why many of today's bbers don't itHow is t-bar more "free weight" than smith? Think about it. :D

Well, the old skool way---and the way I perform them in HS, was take a barbell, remove weight off one end and put the end in a corner. Have a T-bar or handle attachment at the end with the weight. So, it's essentially a free weight movement...

You are still locked in a groove. The bar can only travel one way. Sure, with a loose barbell it can move side to side also, but you're not supposed to do that. :D T-bar row machine compared to smith row, I see no difference really, both locked movements, though I do think t-bar is generally better due to the bar travel path.

The bar is fixed to the ground so the weight is not free.

ya. bending over past 45 degrees shift the emphasis to upper back/ rear delts/ traps/ rohmboids.... standing more upright allows the lats to contract optimally. its a different exercise completly when you bend over so much.

At the gym where I used to go, they had one where you HAD to bend over, as there was pad and you pick up the weight, and the angle forced you to stay on the pad---and I felt it in my lats

well most guys confuse upper back with lats ad rarely ever get a decent lat contraction. you might be one of them. bending over all the way you will definitely feel it in your upper back.
the lats connect down near you ass in the middle of the back, and go up under your arm pits. all the suff on your posterior between your shoulders aint lats, thats rohmbois, traps, rear delts, etc.
-
the t bar is not a free weight movement.. it is fixed at it hinge.. it is no different than a hammer machine or smith.. it is a machine..

The laws of space time continium do not apply to the entity known as The Phil Heath.
