The deep dark secret underlying the Kamikaze debate over the debt ceiling is that it is as much about race as it is about competing political philosophies. The nation is roughly divided in half; the have’s that pay taxes and have not’s who do not. Most of the have’s are white; most of the have not’s are not. When the have’s say they are sick of paying for bloated government, they are saying in effect that they are sick of paying for a vast social safety net that disproportionately protects black and brown people. They are not racists, but the shrink government movement championed by the Tea Party has a racial impact.
For example, everybody got hit by the Great Recession; but the impact on black and brown communities is far more severe. Take unemployment benefits. Proportionally, who would be hurt by limiting the current 99 weeks of eligibility? Since only 7.9% of whites are out of work, compared to 16.1% of blacks and 11.3% of Latinos, the answer is self-evident.

There is no mathmatical equation I see ever getting us out of this on any level short of our seizing oil and other commodities around the world and selling them off and using the money solely for debt reduction and cancellation.
Well of course our other option is to print print print print.

George W Bush started a Ponzi scheme in housing,(third rail) this scheme predictably burst w/ disastrous consequences for all Americans. that, coupled that w/ Trillions in unfunded War spending ($5 Trillion to date) has brought America to the brink of economic collapse. to place blame elsewhere is disingenuous. This nightmare started in the Clinton Administration, Bush left office with the deficit nowhere nearly as bad as it is now and the wars pale in comparison to the unfunded liability mess.

The fact of the matter is there are more white people on social welfare programs than any other minority, so yea, I guess we're just a bunch of self hating white people.
Maybe people are just tired of giving handouts to people who just piss it away and don't contribute anything.

Fact of the matter is that whites make up the overwhelming majority of people in this country so it's not the least bit shocking that there are more whites on social welfare when blacks make up roughly 10% of this country's population.
Funny how Asian immigrants don't come over here to bleed the system dry. In-fact, Koreans have the highest average net wealth of any demographic in this country. Then again, their culture shames the fuck out of people who need to lean on the system.

At this point, I am getting worried. My folks live in a good part of Yonkers and I went vert ere today. Could not believe the boarded up stores, vacancies, etc.
Forget the Bronx, it's a ghost town near me since all the irish left, it's getting scary dude.
