Title: Arnold Classic 2011 Revisited: Back Shots
Post by: Ex Coelis on August 03, 2011, 04:56:44 PM
with the Olympia looming ahead, let's look back to the Arnold

Wolf's width and small waist are impressive and, frankly, I can't understand how anyone can argue he has no lower back

granted his lower body seems light in comparison but it gives him a more classic and athletic look

Branch has perfect colour, great conditioning, and thickness but at 5'5 he's getting dwarfed

Branch's physique is a crime against humanity

He looks like a half baked Orc.

The calves on Wolf and the other guy far right look terrible. But otherwise I think Wolf looks better than Branch.

That's Vic, and it's funny seeing a white man with Black Man's calves, like it doesn't belong.

Beach destroys them all with thickness. If he didn't have that, Wolf would've been better.

Evan looks to have the best combination of size, balance and conditioning.

He looks good don't get me wrong, but up there, on that day, his back was getting crushed. Calves/hams are amazing enough to keep his head above water, but he really is getting crushed by everyone-except the actual winner...Branch looks the worst out of all of them  :(

Warren's back is not that bad, it's the rest of him that fails. Wolf's back is quite strange, such a strong lower and middle back, but very small lats.

Fair enough. I can only go by the photos.

Evan seems to look like he has a physique and not just blobs and bumps that most bodybuilders call muscles these days.

I would gladly have placed Evan first based on his overall look, even if his back is being 'crushed'. Victor looks good too but those calves just look suspect. Look at the lack of cuts and separation when he flexes them in the rear-double bicep shot. Now, comapre them to Evan's calves. If you are flexing and there are no cuts (or any kind of separation), then you should be marked down. I notice that a lot in the shoulders. The rear-double bicep pose is perfect for seeing the separation of the heads in the shoulders. But these days, all you often see is a couple of blobs. Lots of oil or something fishy in there.

The judges seem to have forgotten what the human body is supposed to look like. Perhaps medical students should be judges instead.

Crushed shit.... LOL

Sure, Evan's waist is a little wide but his lines and balance are pretty good. If he keeps trying to add size, then his waist will only get worse.

Hopefully he won't go down that path. After all, it's better to look like a sculpture than a junkyard.
