I am having a heck of a time finding a routine I like. Ever since I came back (after 20 years) I can't seem to fine anything.
The 5/3/1 routine is to hard on my joints (I just turned53 in July) as is the Coan/ Phillipi routine. I plan on lifting in the 100% RAW Christmas Classic in Va. come Dec. Here is what I'm thinking about doing. it's what I did back in the 80's I never really did like training by %
Bench Press/ Deadlift ( I don't squat anymore)
Weeks 1 & 2- 3 sets 10 reps
Weeks 3 & 4- 3 sets 8 reps
Weeks 5-6-7-8 - 3 sets 5 reps
Weeks 9 &10- 2 sets 3 reps Will determed my opener.
Weeks 11&12 2 sets 2 reps Will determed my second att.
Week 13- Opener only
Week 14- meet day.
Detailed log kept. weight felt good or only got 8 reps last set, ect ect.

Since no one offered and opinion, I'll just say that it looks good to me. It's very old school in it's layout and should work just fine.
I also like the old Westside template that goes like this-
Squat and Bench:
Week 1: 70% x 8x3 , 2 minutes between sets
Week 2: 75% x 8x3, 2 minutes between sets
Week 3: 80% x 6x3, 2 minutes between sets
Week 4: 85% x 5x2, 3 minutes between set
Week 5: (80x2, 85% x 2, 90% x2) 5 minutes between sets
Deadlift:
Week 1 - 15 singles @ 65%
Week 2 - 12 singles @ 70%
Week 3 - 10 singles @ 75%
Week 4 - 8 singles @ 80%
Week 5 - 6 singles @ 85%
Week 6- Deload.
Week 7- Meet week.
Just dropping that in there, in case someone might get something out of it. I like it, just a straight "get it done" type program.
