Thousands of unemployed waited overnight, camping out in their business suits and office heels and braving the tormenting heat in Atlanta to stand in line for a job fair Thursday. Authorities treated 20 people for heat exhaustion as they struggled to keep the line moving and get people moved inside.
The incredible turnout at the job fair comes on the heels of the state labor commissioner's announcement that Georgia's jobless rate rose.
The state unemployment rate increased to 10.1 percent in July from the 9.9 percent in June. The unemployment rate for African-Americans stands at 15.9 percent, far above the national rate of 9.1 percent.

Georgia is a hot state.

i remember that same line at that same building to vote obama early, a few years back...

Looking at that line - those idiots most likely did vote for obama.
-
If I was in that situation, looking at that line would be hella disheartening.

Most of those people are not employable.

Most of those people are not employable.
Well, they are trying, are they not?
-
Well, they are trying, are they not?
Not really. Standing in lines like that wont do a damn thing.
I remember being unemployed. It sucked. But I made cold calls, went door to door, did little side shit, etc etc.
Most of these people are going to be forced into self employment whether they liike it or not.
-
Someone should have asked them if Obama deserves to be reelected. It would have been interesting to hear their response. Although, it would not surprise me if most of them erroneously said yes.
-

How the fuck do you know??? Did you stand in line and ask everyone what their job qualifications are?? Obviously you said that because they are all black but Job Fairs always have huge crowds of people. The one I went to in Greenville SC after I got laid off had over 5,000 people in the arena...black, white,...everyone. Unemployment isn't a racial issue, its a economic issue that affects everyone and regardless as to whether those people were laid off or fired, those folks standing in that line in the hot sun are folks that want to work.
Seriously, every comment you make reminds me of how big of an ingrate and a fucktard you really are.

I'm just telling the unvarnished truth. most of those people are wasting their time and need to learn a new skill and start a local small business or service.
Standing in lines like this is a wate of time.
-
I am a little bit confused as to what people are expecting these days. Do Republicans want the Private Sector to create more jobs, or do they want the Government to create more jobs?

::) Yes, because its quite easy to start a local small business with little to no capital. Furthermore, the success rate for a Small Business is certainly not in their favor. More Small Businesses that start up close down moreso than they are able to remain.

The private sector will not create anything until the following happens:
1. Obama is gone. If by some bizarre instance he is re-elected - we will have 4 more years of depression. He is like a fast spreading fatal cancer on the nation and economy.
2. ObamaCare is repealed
3. Tax rates and tax reform is done so that we dont have year to year uncertainty.
4. Energy prices and energy policies are enacted to lower energy costs
5. The regulatory agencies are cut off at the knees
6. Dodd Frank is repealed.
There are plenty of other items, but those come to mind directly. If you doubt me, fine, just dont bitch next year when the economy is still in the toilet.

Its not easy - its fucking hard! i know - been self employed for almost 10 years now.
But guess what - employers don't need these people on any level. It sucks, but guess what - its the truth.
We can either lie to ourselves and tell each other falsehoods, or face reality. I guarantee you at least 80% of those people in line are simply not employable right now.

If 80 percent of them are not employable anyways, as you say, why do you keep bitching about Unemployment?

Because the policies being pursued by the govt depress and discourage employment.
-
Well, they are trying, are they not?
Yep. I'd rather see a line like that, than one at a welfare office. At least those folks are trying to get work.

So under George Bush those 80 Percent, who you said were not employable now, were employable then?
Why is that so?

They were in mainly fluff positions and not vital to the existence of the companies. No one needs more secretaries, paper filers, and people to sit around and answer the phone.
Companies need aggressive rain makers and highly competent networkers who generate business and sales. Most of these peoples' first question will be - DO I GET HEALTHCARE, HOW MUCH VACATION, WHAT BENES YOU OFFERING?
Do you think a business right now wants a fat pos who has been out of work for 2 years who is going to just sit there and eat a paycheck and capital and give little back in return? No!
If you are standing in a line with 5,000 other schlubs - you are not getting a job any time soon.
Another thing - between ObamaCare and the massive increase on business for UE costs and contributions, no business in their right mind is going to hire anyone unless absolutely vital to their operation. That is not the people standing in line with 5,000 others.
You economic illiterates on this board can attack me for saying this, but its the truth whether you want to hear it or not. You fools have economic delusions based on the bullshit you were spoonfed over the years, and its sad to see how many people are disconnected with the reality of the situation we are in.

You stated that those people in the line were 80 Percent Unemployable. At what point in time would they have been 100 percent Employable?

Have you ever taken 1st grade math?

No, which is why I want to know the answer to my question.

No, which is why I want to know the answer to my question.
Companies look forward as to their likely sales, receipts, and costs. When they perceive costs are going to rise, they have to take steps to mitigate those costs increases. Guess who goes first? The marginal employees who hang out, answer the phone, do paper filing, etc.
Now, since most companies are really hurting for new sales and customers, they cant count on new business to mitigate the rising costs, so they lay people off and/or hold off from hiring anyone.
So, if a business thinks it will have to pay say $1,000,000 in new health care costs as a result of obamacare, but will not see $1,000,000 in new business to offset those added costs, guess what happens?
IS THIS TOO HARD FOR YOU TO GRASP?

That didn`t answer the question regarding the 80 percent though.
-

Yes it did!
When these people were employed, many businesses were not facing the tsunami of added costs, regulations, bullshit, UE increases, etc from the govt.
