When BUSH and Paulson initially authorized the bail outs in September of 2008 and the 1.2 trillion "secret bailout" in December of 2008 they went completely against the ideology they stand for: No government involvement in business.
And what ended up really happening? Exactly what they didn't want to happen SHOWING US THAT WE THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA DO NOT CONTROL OUR GOVERNMENT BUT INSTEAD, BANKS DO.
Fuck you people for railing against any ideology while we continue to get screwed over and over. Its not ab out Obama, Its not about BUSH, ITS ABOUT THE PUPPET SHOW WE ARE MANIPULATED WITH.
Fuck you for attacking Democrats, fuck you for attacking republicans. Time to attack the whole dam thing.

i just talked to the banks. they told you to fck off. that is all.

I absolutely agree

So if I want to run ads in papers, and on radio, advocating or trashing a politician I should not be able to?

So if I want to run ads in papers, and on radio, advocating or trashing a politician I should not be able to?
That's on the bottom end of the problems we have 333333.
Think about it, Paulson was a conservative, Bush was a conservative and they decided to do a 180 on their principles and ideals and intervened on business!
Now if that can happen at the highest levels of government some rich guy who wants to put ads in newspapers is on the Low end of our issues at the moment. There is a way to take money out of politics
that's practical. We just need to figure it out.
And what do you spend your time doing? Attacking democrats. ::). That's why I call you a tool sometimes. We are getting fucked over and the people fucking us over love to watch the repubs and democrats fight each other because they can just continue to do what they want.

No - what I said is exactly the 1st amendment. Why should I not be allowed to run ads 24/7 against Obama if I want with my own money?
-

Re-read the other post too. What a private citizen can do is NOT the problem

Corporations legally being thought of as private citizens IS the problem.
-
3333333, here we are getting royally fucked over by our own government and all you can think about is your right to rail on Obama?
WAKE THE FUCK UP!
-
Corporations legally being thought of as private citizens IS the problem.
It goes farther than that based on what happened in 08.

He's a robot. He has no actual thought outside of propaganda. It's sad. But not unexpected.

Again - what is the difference if I have a corporation - say with 5 shareholders that has a pizza parlor on the corner and Cong. Dickhead is pushing a policy directing harming our business.
Why should the company not be able to pay for ads or media or otherwise to try to defeat Cong. Dickhead when his policies are trying to hurt the corporate entity?
Your problem is that you think every corp is GE, GS or IBM. Thats pure crap.
Most Corps are small and midsize businesses getting fucking raped by this disgusting horrible govt and should at least have a mechanism to fight back. They do so by joining lobbying groups, etc.
The problem is not money in politics. The problem is the power we give these leeches in the govt to alter the tax code, pick winners and losers, and pass regulations on end the favor or fuck over different groups. These leeches should not have the power to bail out TBTF, not have the power to give handouts etc.
-
He's a robot. He has no actual thought outside of propaganda. It's sad. But not unexpected.
You're no different. You fail to realise the two parties are just one party and uniformly support democrats even though their policies are nearly identical. This board is symbolic of the alleged 'liberal' vs. 'conservative' fight/debate that does not exist since they are the same. You, for example, are a liberal who supports our occupations and wars provided Obama is the one behind it. That's just partisan politics with no real values. The government is bought and paid for my Wallstreet, the MIC and all the other 'complexes' and the republicans and democrats are equally guilty.

I am very awake. i want the same right to trash obama 24/7 for screwing over my business that i want other business to have to trash Pres. Perry or Bush or whoever.
Do you have a problem with the NRA running ads and donating to candidates?
-
He's a robot. He has no actual thought outside of propaganda. It's sad. But not unexpected.
Yeah ok jackass - I have read more 1st amendment cases and books than you will in your lifetime.
Sorry unlike you and Ozmo - I dont favor empowering the govt to restrict free speech rights for anyone so that the disgusting leeches in the govt can have more free reign to restrict rights and freedoms under the US Const.
-

I have aproblem with the fact that our country has been stolen from us.
Obviously you do not.
All you seem to be worry about is your right to hate Obama.
Keep it going tool.
Do you think Paulson made that decision on his very own? ::)

Make all lobbying illegal...solution.
-
What a private citizen can do is NOT the problem
That's nonsense and a complete lack of understanding of the problem.
What a private citizen can do is the very root of the issue.
The 1st Amendment gives people the right to assemble, and that includes assembly in corporate form. In fact, the entire case that brought this about was little tiny Citizens United, a small handful of people with the same beliefs that wanted to make a political statement.
I won't proclaim to know the solution, but it's no where even close to simply saying private citizens can be treated differently from corporations, or "get money out of politics", or any other easy line to just toss out.
Maybe amending the 1st amendment to prevent assembly in corporate form (but I'm no lawyer, so I don't know if even that would work).
-
Take note everyone.......
This is why our country is fucked over, it's because of people like 333333 who get manipulated into hatred while we are bent over. Blinded fools.

You are a retard. You may have read the magna carta 5000 times for all i care, but you are still a retard whose opinion is akin to a drunk idiot shouting crazy phrases in that piss stained town, that you call New York.

I wish it was illegal for you to lobby the sh*t out of this board for that loser Ron Paul.

That's all you have to say? is that because you lack the intellectual merit to challenge what I have said to you? Apparently not. ::)I don't care if you support RP or not, that is not the point, the point is, as Ozmo has shown you, that both parties are bought and have sold out and that the American people do not have a say anymore. You must be pretty dense to not get that and keep at the 'Repulicans are evil and the Democrats are the solution.' schtick; your favourite 'liberal' Obama bailed out Wallstreet and fucked over the middle class and poor people you claim to care so much about...any response to that? or will you just keep to the infantile name calling?
-

Yeah and? How does restricting my business with say 25 shareholders from running ads against Senator POFS who is passing horrendous laws and regulations hurting my business help anything?
See - its all funs and games when you point to obvious bad actors like GE, GS, Citi etc, but the law does not work that way. What you pass for those bad actors applies to EVERYONE!
Sorry - just because I loathe GS, GE, Citi, etc, does not mean I am in favor in passing unconsitutional restrictions on free speech that apply equally to everyone, including the corner deli.
-

Dude no one cares what you have to say. Least of all me.

Didn't you bail on the US.
Hardly, I lived their last year and vote in elections, wouldn't call that 'bailing' though given the current state of the economy there it might be a smart thing to do.
-

Skip, a conservative administration Totally went against their principles in what was essentially a snap decision and got billions involved in business with our tax money without our consent!
And as you and many others have shown many times it didn't stop there!
Now we can go on and on about what private citizens can or can't do, but this bail out issue with banks and how our government rolled over for them is the problem not whether or not 333333 can advertise his obsession for OB in the NYT.

The NRA is a lobbying org. Should be ban the NRA? They lobby for Gun Rights and the 2nd amend. Why should they be banned?

It works both ways on both sides. That's why there is no running in the library.
Money is NOT free speech.
-
The NRA is a lobbying org. Should be ban the NRA? They lobby for Gun Rights and the 2nd amend. Why should they be banned?
Change the structure of the organisation. Lobbying has ruined the country, people simply buy favours and votes. It's need to be banned. The 2nd amendment is enshrined in the Constitution. They shouldn't need to lobby for that.
-
Take note everyone.......
This is why our country is fucked over, it's because of people like 333333 who get manipulated into hatred while we are bent over. Blinded fools.
Meltdown - sorry you are acting like a woman. I actually give a rats ass about the 1st Amend as a check against the govt as it was originally set up.
If you want Obama/bush/Pelosi/Clinton/Newt et al restricting your free speech rights because they can't seem to resist the temptation against corruption - fine - I am totally against that.
-

you can keep stamping your feet all you like - as a matter of law and fact you are wrong.

I look at it from the opposite way - if these politicans were not given or allowed to have the power to fuck with our rights in the first place, an Org like the NRA wouldnt even exist.
Actions result in reactions.

SNORE. Basically, you think things should just stay as they are. I got it.
-

What do you think Lobbying is?
Its people lobbying their govt for something or to stop doing something. Why would we want to get rid of that?
-
What do you think Lobbying is?

That is hardly what lobbying is or at least restricted to; people lobby to get favours, Wallstreet lobbies Congress and politicians, get favours, i.e. bailouts. Israel lobbies in Washington for the same reasons and the list is endless. The government should not be in the business of denying or granting favours, only protecting rights.
-
::)
SNORE. Basically, you think things should just stay as they are. I got it.
Did i say that?
No - stop crying and melting down on this.
The govt should not be in a position to pick winners and losers. I was one of the few against TARP and you can look it up. I did not favor any of these bailouts or giveaways.
I favor no bailouts, no giveaways, flat tax w/o deductions or set offs, minimal regulation, moral hazard, and 50% or more less govt.
-
Make all lobbying illegal...solution.
Not a solution at all. Lobbying isn't necessarily a bad thing.
-
Skip, a conservative administration Totally went against their principles in what was essentially a snap decision and got billions involved in business with our tax money without our consent!

If that's how you want to frame the issue, then this doesn't seem to be a 1st Amendment thing.
First, forget the CTs, bipartisan shit, and all the stupid crap. Bush and Obama acted the way they did because they were trying to do what each thought was best to keep the economy going at the time. And it probably came from all of their advisors who are political appointees, not the best and the brightest.
And maybe that's the rub - fewer politically appointed positions, and more experience/knowledge based positions? IDK.
But, I would argue that it's more incompetence (on all sides), than ideology that got us to this point - certainly not the 1st Amendment.
As for 33, he's not bringing down anybody, he's not causing chaos, he's not hurting anyone. Blacken's on the other side, and he's not doing any harm either. In fact, the majority of people aren't even interested in politics and most could care less. Hell, just look at this board - it's pretty much just the same people all the time.
-
No - what I said is exactly the 1st amendment. Why should I not be allowed to run ads 24/7 against Obama if I want with my own money?
how about if a foreign corporation wants to do it and isn't required to reveal who they are, source of funds etc..
are you fine with that too ?

I agree - but if these pigs in the govt were not given the amount of money to spend/waste, ability to regulate every aspect of our lives, give bailouts, etc etc, people and companies would not feel the need to lobby or seek favors.
You guys are looking at this from the exact opposite end of the spectrum.
Ever notice as the govt grows bigger and bigger and bigger these problems seem to multiply?
-
how about if a foreign corporation wants to do it and isn't required to reveal who they are, source of funds etc..

There should be full disclosure.
-
What do you think Lobbying is?
Its people lobbying their govt for something or to stop doing something. Why would we want to get rid of that?
I think most people would be surprised to find out how much their own local governments spend in lobbying the federal government to get funds.

I don't have any problem with 33333 or Blacken. I welcome it. But that's not my issue here. That's what i have been trying to tell 3333. when our own government bows down to big business then i have a problem with that because they are supposed to bow down the people.
Thomas Jefferson warned against it: "I hope we shall crush in its birth the aristocracy of our moneyed corporations which dare already to challenge our government to a trial of strength and bid defiance the laws of our country."
Abe Lincoln too: "as a result of the war, corporations have become enthroned, and an era of corruption in high places will follow. The money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its rule by preying upon the prejudices of the people until all wealth is concentrated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed."
Something needs to be done and i don't know the answers either.

Oz, the answers are simple, numbers but we don't have the numbers so shit will just continue the way it does until something terrible happens.

I think people need to rise up. But before that, people need to be educated about what really happened here. Then if enough civil unrest occurs then our representatives will take action or get replaced.
Of course, that's if we can get people's attention away from American Idol and Kim Kardashian's ass. >:(

aside of lack of disclosure you're OK with foreign corporations (and even foreign goverments) spending unlimited amounts of money to influence our electoral process?

Seems we can all agree on that. Apathy is a huge problem.

I think civil unrest is inevitable but the question is, will it be organised and directed? or just mob rule and chaos and you are right, I think that is where education comes in to differentiate the two.
-
Civil unrest will be a disaster.
-
Civil unrest will be a disaster.
It will be worse if it is just chaos...
-
We need to shrink the govt. The more the govt grows and spends more - the more interests seek those dollars. How friggin hard of a concept is this to grasp?
-
I don't know what will change this, as Skip said apathy is a huge problem. Organized protesting on a large scale? Civil unrest could back fire.
Or we could just whine about Obama golfIng to much. :D

Sure Mr. Fake Liberal... ::)
Obama is for a strong middle class, huh?
No. Obama has been practicing republican principals from day 1. The funny shit is people who think other republicans will come in and do something different. Its fucking bullshit and they know it. They run around screaming "the world is falling now, it was good before but it went to shit in 2 years!!!!" and thats just dumb.. They are all the same. (except for paul) and the only half way sane one is being branded a looney toon.
Im fucking moving to iceland

I lived in Iceland for half a year...pretty bleak.

Rise up? Would that include the 50% of the population that fits the definition of a benefit-leeching parasite? They can rise up and fuck off right out of this country for all I care. They're no better than banksters. Each group is bleeding this country dry in their own respective way.
I do get a kick out of how 333 is vilified here. If he wasn't posting this board would be complete trash. Just look at the other spammers on here - Blacken's threads get 0 posts because they're shitty copy/pasted youtube videos, 240 can't talk about anything without sucking Obama's dick and so on. Thankfully we have someone that actually, you know, wants to discuss politics and posts stories.
-
Go back and start reading from the start of the thread.
33333 isn't vilified here. He's just so obsessed with OB that he'll post threads about OBgolfing too much which is far from the problem. So I called him on it.
That's what this thread is about, not 333333. So need to try and defend him again.
The problem is our government is no longer representative of the people of this country. At was very much demonstrated when a conservative administration authorized the bail out of our banks in a snap decision. They authorized something that was. In conflict with their Ideals showing who owns them.
This is not about dem or repubs.

Bush was. No conservative.

Bush was. No conservative.
Easy to argue that now.

No, many of us argued that from day 1. When I think of a real conservative I think of pat buchanan.

Sounds like another good ole scam.
