A good pitcher once suicide due to financial failure. Damn how many people have checked out due to finances this year?

UPDATE (3:55 p.m. ET Thursday): Flanagan died of a self-inflicted shotgun wound to the head, the Maryland medical examiner has ruled, according to The Associated Press.
His body was found Wednesday afternoon about 250 feet behind his Baltimore County home.
According to police, Flanagan was upset about financial isssues. He had last spoken to his wife, Alex, around 1 a.m. Wednesday. She said he sounded upset and was concerned when he failed to call her the following day. She sent a neighbor to their house to check on him. Unable to find Flanagan, the neighbor called 911.
An investigation showed he was home alone when he took his life, according to the AP.
The Flanagan family released a statement: "We thank you for your support and kind words at this difficult time. Thank you for respecting our privacy as we grieve. A private memorial will be held at a later date."
EARLIER: Mike Flanagan, whose career with the Baltimore Orioles included a Cy Young Award and World Series championship as a pitcher, and stints as a coach, executive and broadcaster, was found dead at his Maryland home on Wednesday.
Flanagan's death was first reported by WBAL-TV in Baltimore and later confirmed by the Baltimore Sun, citing law enforcement or club sources.Baltimore's Mike Flanagan faces the Oakland Athletics in 1991.

He did kind of blow all of his money.

Probably had mental illness, lot's of people have financial hardship, likely well beyond his, and rebound.

This could be having been, being a star athlete then having to retire leaving the "lime light" and money no longer there may have been a contribution to the illness. Its got to work on the mind.

The Pope came out and said that since it was suicide, Flanagan is in hell.
