if that's really him,i really feel bad for him...
-
Oh wow.. what happened??
-
all that money and poor health seems to go hand in hand.
-
Vince. He's got pancreatic cancer. It's not pretty, and he's dying. He's going better than all of us would. A little less sermon would be great.
-
To be fair, he doesn't look much worse than some of his past appearances on the Apple stage. But no doubt about it, the bro may be in his last days. In the past, he made it clear he was only temporarily stepping away. This announcement was different.
On a side note, he's said to have been quite a prick in his day. I wonder how this has changed him. His money has allowed him to carry on a lot longer than most people get with this type of cancer. So you can bet he's done a lot of reflecting over the past few years.
God bless him. I'd love to see him turn it all around and show us the way with some kind of alternative treatment.
-
I used to think he actually had access to alien technology... but I guess not.
:(

If you're not a prick, nothing gets done. Don't blame him.
-

:(
No. But he's been using non-traditional treatments, at least in part, and he's managed to live at least twice as long as a person would normally live in this situation.
-
He also had a liver transplant a couple years ago.
-

I suppose that's one way of looking at it.

a normal person would still be waiting for a liver transplant and died by now .... too bad the advanced alien technology he received from our government to create the iPod didn't have a cancer cure included.
;)
-

That's my life experience talking. Very few people you can rely on without being a prick.
-
not sure ipads and iphones are so great contributions to mankind...
whose the guy in the pic, his "life partner" ? Looks like aids to me.

So he must have went Third World for the liver (where they're sold to the highest bidder, rather than by order). I forgot he has the incredibly rare type of pancreatic cancer that can be helped with a liver transplant.
-

Shit, with all the Apple money, he should have been able to surround himself with 100% those types of people.
-
I think he has enough money to get a liver from a living donor.
-
Fuck him.
Jobs married Laurene Powell, on March 18, 1991. Presiding over the wedding was the Zen Buddhist monk Kobun Chino Otogawa. The couple have a son and two daughters. Jobs also has a daughter, Lisa Brennan-Jobs (born 1978), from his relationship with Bay Area painter Chrisann Brennan. She briefly raised their daughter on welfare when Jobs denied paternity, claiming that he was sterile; he later acknowledged paternity.

You would think that. I have a friend who studied law and went to work for one of the big accounting firms when he graduated. He left after 6 months because he said it was just filled with dickheads. Guys trying to get one up on each other, who think they are the best because they know one little thing.
-
You can do some crazy shit with live liver transplants these days if you have a compatible doner. I was reading about it on wikipedia the other day. They chop like 70% of the liver out of the doner and put it in the recipient. The doner's liver is back to full size and full function in a matter of weeks; evidently the liver has incredible regenerative powers.
-
Looks more like Vissy and you, Vince.

I hear you, man. And it doesn't seem like it's going to get any better with the new generations coming up.
-
Poor guy, he looks really bad...
Goes to show you, even if you have all the money in the world life can still push you to the very edge when it feels like it and there is nothing you can do about it!
-
It would be nice for him, his family and the company he co-founded if he was somehow cured, either medicinally or miraculously. I no longer care that much for AppleŠ Computers (No Blu Ray pisses me off!), but that doesn't mean I would wish this on Jobs.

Usually a quick death.

Usually a quick death.
He supposedly had some uber-rare form of it that's much easier to catch/treat.
Poor guy. This makes me feel old. SJ has been around for as long as I've known what a computer is.

He needs to bring up his calves.

He needs to bring up his calves.
Typical black guy genetics, all torso, epic winnie v hairline.

Almost as bad as Coleman's.

This. There are different kinds of pancreatic cancer. Word several years ago was that he had a pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor which is a lot different than a pancreatic adenocarcinoma. People with the former can be cured with surgery. The latter is the devastating form that kills most, although some are cured, and it has nothing to do with money! It's just luck really. Hate to break it to the conspiracy theorists, but any person with even average health insurance is pretty much getting what the richest Americans are getting for cancer care. There are no magic bullets for the rich in medicine, particularly with regard to cancer.

Haha, man, I like ya'... whoever you are. You're the God of Hormones, no doubt, and I always enjoy reading your posts here, but like you know your hormones, I know my pancreas cancer since I have probably as much experience treating it as you have with your hormones. :) Even people with the worst kind (adenocarcinoma) can live 5 years or more if the disease is caught earlyand they can undergo a curative surgery. Jobs supposedly had a less aggressive form called a neuroendocrine tumor, which can actually be cured at a much higher rate than adenos. Of course, not all people are cured, and he unfortunately appears to be one of those people.

8 billion net worth... im sure he can pick up a few organs from china for a few bucks

Why does Blu-Ray piss you off? ???

not sure about a miracle - he had a very rare form of cancer or tumor which gave him a much better chance to survive.
He was pretty much told already to go home and to bring his family afairs into order (stuff a doctor tells you when they suspect you only will stay alife for a short time).
When they took some cells from the tumor they found out it was extremly rare - gave him a second chance - of course the chemo and all kicks you bad in the nuts, i've had friends look the same before they died, its not the cancer that makes you look like that but the chemo therapy - you just puke your lungs out for weeks on end.
I really really hope I never get cancer.

On the way up,you'll break a few hearts, crush a few dreams, and hurt a whole lot of feelings.. But at that level it's just the way it goes.. Once you get what you want, then there is room for kindness, and generosity..

Jobs is a cold hard badass. When he became the CEO of apple again in I think the late '90s, one of the first things he did was eliminate 100% of the company's philanthropy efforts, lol.
-
Last year the founder of the Stanford Social Innovation Review called Apple one of "America's Least Philanthropic Companies." Jobs had terminated all of Apple's long-standing corporate philanthropy programs within weeks after returning to Apple in 1997, citing the need to cut costs until profitability rebounded. But the programs have never been restored.
