Anyone get their hands on one of these? What was or what is the company thinking just junking these things losing money buy selling them so cheap? Parts probably cost 150 dollars for one sold at 500 dollar original price I think.

Unless your apple then making a tablet is suicide, the prices apart from apple are freefalling on most tablets, Id expect when the average Android tablet is retailing for 100-150 dollars or around 110 euro in EU then Apple might start feeling the heat.As it is the OS and app store on IOS is so far beyond Android that people dont mind paying the extra 100 dolars or so for an Ipad, change that to a 300 dollar price difference then I can see a bigger migration, leading to more developers seeing Android as worth porting to and a more level playing field.

Yeah I never thought other companies would be too successful at copying the ipad tablet, how does android run on tablets? IOS is pretty nice on tablets.

I'm a big fan of Android tablets! Have one myself and no regrets regarding not going the iPad route.
I debated getting the hp for 99 bucks just for the hell of it and seeing if someone could port android to it, but figured it would be unstable, plus before I could even finish this thought they were sold out!
Fun fact for you guys, hp reps have admitted that the touchpads software web os ran better on an iPad when they ported it over!

well worth 99 bucks. Still would rather have a netbook if I was looking for something small yet fully functional.

Bought it from Barnes and Noble.....then those fuckers sent me (and many manyothers) the "We're sorry....we over sold the product....sorry, you lose...no tablet for you"

You didn't buy it. You placed an order for one. The order was not filled. :(

Semantics....just my opinion. But something from an online store as reputable as BN....and you have the expectation that their software will be able to tell you if they are sold out or not.

I was going to and then I'd wait for someone to port Android over. Apparently aside from the ones which accidentally had Android (Qualcomm, a chip manufacturer was testing Android on it and some made it to the production level accidentally), I've heard not much progress was made. Meh. I'll just wait and get a good tablet once the quad-core Kal El processor comes out. That thing is beastly!
I actually just purchased a Logitech Revue from Amazon.com. They're $99 and the keyboard controller is awesome. It is a great DLNA solution, meaning you can basically stream downloaded movies to your TV. I use PS3MediaServer for that but it can be a pain, and this thing is so user friendly. It's also got web browsing and Android OS Honeycomb on it too. No Market access but now that they're so cheap, there'll be a good homebrew and hacking scene just like every other Android device. A $99 media renderer to stream porn and BlueRay movies is well worth it for me. The rest is icing on the cake, mo fucka 8)

Another gadget that will be fun for a few minutes and than gahers dust in the corner with your Blackberry your different watches and all the other must have things.
Wake up guys - kick the consume addiction.
You don't need any of this shit.

Exactly...part of me is glad I didn't get it in the end. The other part is pissed because I was probably going to raffle it off at my office for a charity event we are having at the end of September.

I fucking love my Samsung (Droid OS) tablet. I use it often for business and personal.

Wrong. These devices are extremely functional.
I love being able to VPN into my home network. I can work, play, do anything from my Android devices. I also have a solid media network setup which brings fuckloads of entertainment value to myself, family and friends. I can even tap into it remotely and play movies at someone else's house.
Tools like Google Maps and Navigation are invaluable as well. I used apps like Maps, Yelp and Places to navigate around on my vacation, book excursions, get reviews on restaurants and so much more. And if there isn't a practical use for these devices, I'll find one and use it as a cop out to my wife for buying another expensive tech gizmo...... :o ;D

Have to agree with this! Ever since I bought my Archos 101 (European manufacturer) running Android, I hardly use my laptop, the tablet does 99% of everything my laptop does! I travel with it, go to work with it, so convenient. Plus Android OS rocks, very customizable and full featured!
