Title: doing my part to help a brotha - and America - out
Post by: Tre on August 30, 2011, 07:42:19 AM
I coach youth softball and wanted to get a small logo designed for my coaches' shirts, so I posted a listing on Craigslist. I already had the template, I just needed a designer to modify the name, add a line, and deliver the file to me in a format that could be taken directly to the embroiderer. The quotes came in pretty rapidly, ranging from $30 up to $300, and a couple of guys sent in their drafts before I'd even awarded them the gig.  Pretty presumptuous, perhaps, but smart, too, in this case, because they both did an excellent job.

The problem was the third guy, Orlando.  He sent in SIX different drafts (I hadn't asked for any), and all of them were awful and looked nothing like the sample I'd sent.

So, in addition to posting here on GetBig, I wrote back to him letting him know that - as a would-be designer - it's generally not a good ideas to ignore a potential client's requests altogether.

That's what I did to help a black person today.  What have YOU done?
