MMA Fighting is reporting that Akiyama is going to be dropping to Welterweight following his loss to Belfort last month. Personally, I think this is a great moved for Akiyama. Walking around at 190 and fighting at 185 is a major disadvantage when you are fighting guys the size of Rich Franklin or Vitor Belfort. Apparently, he also plans to try and train with GSP which could only help him, especially his stamina issues. I really like Akiyama he always puts on a good show, but he is just to small to be fighting at 185. I have included the link to the article below. What are your thoughts? I think it's win/win for the UFC and Akiyama.
