I snapped this from one of his videos and was wondering if anyone knows why he separates the plates? ???
-
he doesnt always do that that was probably just by accident or it happened during one of his sets and he just didnt fix it.
-
Wiggs in the background, representing Team Kai, inclining big weights to psyche Jay out.
-
It's so there easier to remove. I do this as well on any angled weight horn, put a 5lb weight between the 45's that way you dont have to pinch your fingers between them to pull them off.

;D ;D ;D
-
probably a drop set, easy to take the plats off
-
He once said that he spreads the weights to help balance out the load. But that doesnt make much sense to me.

No. In the video he's purposely separating them each set for a reason and I'm wondering why.

No. In the video he's not doing drop sets.
If anyone has From Jay to Z you'll know what I'm talking about. It's on the second disk.

Hmmmm...if that's the case it doesn't seem to make much sense to me either. But whatever works for him.

Bodybuilders usually don't make a lot of sense. You could load all of the plates on one side and it will still give the same workout if they were on both. It's not an iso-lateral machine so plate load is irrelevent.

then probably some alien technique that jay learned from aliens, you know, area 51 is located in Nevada where jay's house is not so far from, I guess the certain distance of the separates between plates can boost growth hormone and insulin to help jay lift more
:D :D

For better aerodynamics. ::)
-
Space between plates + MuscleTech Product = Massive Growth!

What? C'mon tbombs, I would expect an answere like this from a beginner at the gym, but from you, lmao...the weight can't go like that by acciden, not in a thousand sets :o

This ;)

He's OCD isn't he? Might be as simple an explanation as that.
-
A couple reasons guys do this, for different reasons at different times. One, is drop sets and it's easier to take them off, but you said he wasn't doing drop sets.
Another is it's easier to take them off if the bar is on an angle.
If those two don't apply, it could be because he likes to hear the jingle jangle of the weight plates. I do this on a squat bar but it doesn't make much sense on a Hack Squat.
Or it could simply because the photographer asked for that as a variation of a picture.

hey its possible
-
hey its possible
Not probable.

Not probable.
id think it more probable than someone arranging them in that fashion cuz they have difficlty unloading plates when they are close together ;D
-
hey its possible
Not when the bar is on a slight slant upwards
-
He doesnt want to catch the gay
-
Maybe it was almost Christmas and he wanted to hear "jingle bells" with the plates....
-
He does it to give the illusion from different angles that he is doing ronnie colman type light weight baby
-
Maybe he just wants to make us wonder why he does this? ;D
-
No no, he's doing the Weider Weight Plates Spread Principle..

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

you hear the plates banging to eachother then, i myself get more motivated that way, maybe jay too.
-
People are talking about how maybe it's because he likes to hear the plates jiggle or that it's easier to take the weights off at an angle when doing hack squats. The thing is in the video when he's doing leg press on the machine he doesn't separate the plates whatsoever. But for some reason, when doing hack squats on the machine, he does.
Maybe it is an OCD thing for him. Who the hell knows. And no, I did not loose sleep over this. :P

some leg press are not slanted upwards all hack squats are, so you don`t need to seperate the leg press for them to come off easy because they aren`t slanted
-
why did he feed his beautiful wife steroids, thats the real question
-
Ah well, with a little luck he retires after this O....
-
No no, he's doing the Weider Weight Plates Spread Principle..
without vasoline, the spread principle is useless
-
He's making a pretty pattern, of course.
-
LOL if he's not changing plates then possibly an OCD thing where he has to have it a certain way.
I once shared a flat bench with a guy who insisted on putting the plates on with the flat side facing away..
