I'm on an NFL forum arguing with about a dozen guys about drug use in the NFL. They are all arguing that their favorite players are all clean and I'm stating the obvious, that they are on performance drugs but also pain killers and narcotics. You can't get the shit beat out of you week in and week out and not be on something to help ease the pain.
Yet these fools who watch ESPN beleive that the NFL is built on golden athletes with genetics 1000 times greater than anyone else and that they all train everyday to get into their inhuman shape that is also combined with amazing speed and agility.
Fucking fools.
-
People like to believe in fairy tales...just let them.
-
do they die early?
how do they justify early deaths in that case?
From my experience and from what I have seen professional athletes can be very loose with meds prescribed by club doctors. Often the top players take it to the extreme. They do not have concern for their "health" in many cases yet are incredible athletes. Shit, many party extremely hard too... narcotics and contracting stds to top it off. (don't give a flying fuck)I hope I don't end up like Dave Jacobs from this post.
-
I think it goes beyond that. From listening to alot of these media types on tv and radio, they seem to be just as delusional.

While bodybuilding fans are the ultimate schmoes, there are no fans as annoying as baseball or footballs fans. They think their athletes are "god" like and would kiss the fucking ground they walk on. Say one bad thing about a player or sport team, and they flip out. Seriously, get a life ::) ::)

ur over here arguing with gh15, they're not delusional they are ingorant

hehe remember for years people said 'baseball players dont use steroids' - the bigger muscles dont help, etc., well they were wrong...then they said 'well the pitchers dont use em, they wouldnt help'...well they were wrong, again.
-
i have a friend who pitched for the Atlanta Braves right out of high school, pitched in the rotation with smoltz and maddox, he has been around the league many years, told me that 8-10 dudes sniff coke.

I read the question presented in the title of this thread and I was like "Are You Serious, Bro?"
I mean- you are looking for the answer to that question on a board where Vince Goodrum and Mike Arvilla are posters?

the general public is really very clueless. a year ago i thought people like kiyoshi moody were natural, but amongst non-weightlifters it's unreal. I remember one of my friends telling me that with the "advances in nutrition and weight training" it should be "at least possible to look like arnold naturally these days" as if this were some humble estimate... lol.
A couple months ago I was talking to another old friend from highschool, "but like, arnold didn't do drugs, did he?"
"Michael phelps eats 10,000 calories a day... I mean he is swimming 5 hours a day, that takes a lot of energy!" ::)

the general public would believe jay cutler is natural if he told them so.
-
No they wouldn't, but I think a lot of people have this dualistic "all or nothing" view of steroids. I know I did anyway.
Like, somehow it never really crossed my mind that people would take different amounts of steroids... as long as you didn't look like an IFBB pro I thought, "why not?"
Kiyoshi moody weighs like 80 lbs less than Jay onstage, so why not? ::)
Ah well, those days are long gone.
-
No they wouldn't
yes, they would.
-
oh give me a break. go around and ask 100 people if they think mr. fucking olympia uses steroids or not, see how many say no.
-

Not a chance , they associate bodybuilding with steroids
-

Most people don't realize that birth control pills are a type of "steroid".
-
It's in the NFL/NBA/MLB/ ....best Intrest and financial pockets That their top players continue to play day In and day out
-

fuck... this is frustrating that i even have to argue about this with you people.
i take it neither of you are actually muscular, nor do either of you actually know anyone who is has pro level size. people might suspect roids when they see a huge dude, but if the dude just tells them no i dont take drugs, i workout 7 days a week and eat 5 lbs of meat everday plus i got good genetics, they will believe it without any problems
for fucks sake we have people on getbig who think ronnie coleman was a natural up untill 1998. most bodybuilders i have talked to thought they could be a pro naturally during their first few years of training. people just dont have any clue about the limits of the human body.
go watch the video of jay cutler doing an interview with las vegas news promoting the olympia. someone just posted it yesterday. he is sitting next to a skinny little white woman. he could easily pass as a natural if he just said " i work out like crazy all the time".
-
okay maybe if he's sitting with a sweatshirt on and you ask someone who doesn't know who he is, they could be fooled.
if you took the average person, though, and sent them to the olympia tomorrow and told them jay was all natural, they wouldn't believe you.
-
with their only knowledge being that if you lift weights your muscles grow... all you have to do is say " ive been working out everyday for the past 20 years" and they will not doubt for a second your natural. even if your jay cutler.

Again I strongly disagree , the general public associates the sport of professional bodybuilding with steroids and think anyone who competes is on and in most cases anyone who lifts weights is on , Gerard Butler was on Howard Stern yesterday and Howard asked him if he took steroids to get ' so big ' in 300 , needless to say he scoffed at the idea and said no , the average Joe thinks the kid from Twilight is huge nevermind a competitive bodybuilder who weights 100lbs more
If you show a picture of Jay Cutler to the average person on the street I would estimate 10-out-of-10 people will say he takes steroids. Now could Jay convince some average person he's natural by claiming superior genetics and a great diet and hard work? maybe , but in my opinion the person he would be try to convince wouldn't care either way and not put much thought into it

that are still commonly believed to be achievable without injecting hormones.

yes, he could convince any average person of that.
Maybe , but I think the preconceived notion is he's on and the onus now becomes convincing them he's not.

Great point , I agree 100%

people fucking think I'm on steroids
anyone who works out and has a decent physique is thought to be on steroids. if you can run a mile faster than someone it's "steroids". of course they know cutler is on.

I think the AVERAGE person, ie someone who either doesn't workout or maintains the "health" look would assume ALL pro-bodybuilders are on juice, it's just in the media too much. the "delusional" ones tend to be those who actually workout, but want to believe that turds who claim "all-natural" are telling the truth so that someday they can achieve the same look.......
-
Well they arn't involved in knowing about it so they can only go off the media unless they can think for themselves which is rare.
I remember sitting around with some friends and someone goes 'The Oscars are so rigged' and everyone agreed, my first thought was 'Nah it wouldn't be rigged, why would it be rigged' then i realised i was thinking just like normal people and drug use in sports because i knew nothing about the Oscars and never followed it at all
-
Unless you have 250 pounds of muscle people fail to recognize drug use but don't realize that you can use steroids for strength and recovery without adding slabs of muscle.
-
I started arguing about Tom Brady being a drug head. Primarily because of his wife and the modelling scene. it is fact that the majority of these models and people in the industry are druggies, yet again they fail to listen and think Brady is God.
I highly doubt Brady is snorting coke or doing heroin with his model friends...haha..... painkillers are another story, but can't see him tearing it up on the rec drug scene. Too smart and too much to lose.

I don't know bro ;)

Because you can get those without drugs
You can look, say, as big as the top guy -- but not with the same leanness and shape. You can look as cut as stallone... but not with the same amount of muscle and not as dry... imo.
The middle guy looks the most natural to me but i've never seen a natural with such round delts afaik.
-

this actually holds some merit. i used to go to a prowrestling forum, and people would swear that john cena, the rock, etc. were natural. 'cena has trained his whole life' 'rock is samoan/black, they are natural big guys' 'they wouldnt they could get fired for it (lol)' . people even claiming how training hard and using lots of supplements would get you in steroid shape (this was said seriously). its not hard to convince the untrained or inexperienced of a falsehood.
whites will generally believe a black doesnt 'need' steroids to look liek a bodybuilder. youngins' are either naive about it or dont want to believe they need steroids to look like a bb (this usually is resolved after a few years of training, they see the light).
