Title: 2011 Olympia - Jay Cutler was off, crown has been passed
Post by: Alpine on September 17, 2011, 03:50:24 PM
I'm not anti-Jay by any means. I'm about as impartial as they come in terms of who should win, Phil, Kai, whatever. There is no doubt Jay has been a great ambassador for the sport. Much more so than someone like Kai would be. But I think its clear that Jay was most definitely OFF. His body looks tired and is not responding like it used to. The abnormal peak in his double bi leads me to believe that the discoloration "might" have to do with some last minute local injection of synthol gone wrong. Perhaps he nicked a vein and it bled out a bit. The pattern does not look like what a true prior tear/strain causing bruising would resemble. Further, its much too high up on the bicep itself, it usually ends up lower at the joint. You would see residual blood discoloration in the lower forearm as gravity pulled it away (down) from the source (particularly that long ago). This is conspicuously absent in Jay. His left bicep and delt were probably slightly smaller due to some nerve damage issues and he was trying to compensate.

Here, the left shoulder clearly disproportional.

It's a poor showing. If he places too high it will make a mockery of the Olympia and the judging process.  Say what you want about Jay, but he does not deserve to go out like this - surrounded in controversy with one of his worst showings. If he places low he will make a comeback but may never regain the thrown.  This is still better than being given a political gift and finishing his career surrounded with controversy. He's in bad enough shape that I dont even think they can give this one to him. Phil Heath does look amazing. He has that FRESH look to the muscle that the older pro's lose (even Coleman began too) and amazingly round muscle bellies - a true genetic advantage over almost everyone.

Update: Hany Rombod on Jay's "tear" @ 2:46
http://www.flexonline.com/news/olympia/interview-dennis-james-and-hany-rambod I have to admit, Hany Rambod did a REALLY good job of Damage Control on this. He sounds extremely convincing. Nonetheless, his "guru" speak cant cure the front double bi where Jay's left bi peak is clearly unnatural looking. He may have used synthol to help compensate and balance it out if he truly did partially tear it. Ramrod says 2 weeks ago, Jay says 3. Generally, a damage control plan involves the SAME STORY.

The reason Jay was kissing Phil's ass so long ago was because he recognized the amazingly superior genetic gift he has and knew it was just a matter of time before he took over. Anyone with an eye knew his time was coming. Genetics + Androgens = champions. The training and diet are mere minutia these days. For the most part, they are all doing the same thing.

left shoulder and bicep are done, and he has piss poor generics.  there's no comeback for him.  but as i said, if he improves tonight, they'll sneak him one for the road.

I never used to believe people on getbig when they were saying that the reasons why there werent any striation in Jay's biceps was because of oil injections...

Now I believe you guys!

His right shows injection marks as well..its just not bruised.

Funny thing is he said he strained his biceps that is why its bruising. I didnt know a strain made your bicep distorted and odd shaped.  :-\

It's been verified by IFBB Pro Phil Hernon.

THey're pro BBers, and we are not.  No sense speculating - these guys know their shit.

Biceps strain.  End of story.

Sarcasm noted. You're right, we're just soft, blubbery schmoes sitting at home speculating in the warm glow of our computer monitors. Even if that discoloration is from a 3 week old bicep strain bleed out (physiologically unlikely based on the dissipation & drain pattern), the double bi shot on its own still shows what "seems" to be some clear synthol use. It's no secret all pros use it from time to time to compensate for imbalance or injury. Clearly, his left delt/bi may have been lagging due to some nerve damage.

We have Hernon saying early on it was a shoulder issue.  Jay then said it was a biceps STRAIN, 3 weeks ago.  Hany said it was a biceps TEAR, 2 weeks ago. Hany's damage control was the best but they need to get their shit straight.

in the old days, the magazines would have worked with a BBer's "team" to compose a story about exactly what happened to that arm.  MAYBE some evidence would emerge to counter it, but the official story would be the official story.

Imagine if Vince Taylor's "eyeball" incident had happened today?

You know, he was at the show with eye patch, claiming luggage strap hit him in the eye getting off plane.  Only later did a pic emerge showing him getting off the plane laughing and certainly without an eye injury.  Whether Vince really hurt his eye elsewhere later, or just wore the patch cause he missed his peak and got 6th at the O instead of 1st (helsinki 92, right?)...

Well, whatever really happened, we know his story was bullshit.  If it happened today, I don't think he'd tell such a fib.  Jay's casual lie has spurned polls all over his home base of MD saying "why is he lying about his shot, does he think we're stupid".

In the old days, the mags were 2-3 months behind contests with their reports, so the truth would come out by the time they had the contest coverage, like with Dorian during the 94 and 97 Olympia, for example.

I'm guessing Jay won't tell us what really happened until after the Olympia, since he probably doesn't want it to affect his placing or the way judges see him now.

Seriously I rolled my ankle last year and it turned my foot purple, with that kind of stuff it ain't the injury that causes the problems it's the insane amount of swelling that goes along with it. Trust me jays iceing that thing like there's no tomorrow like he wasn't already told he won.

Generally, I would have agreed with you that even as amazing as Phil and some of the others look, Jay would have recieved a gift. However, I think hes just too off this time. He has other issues besides the bruising in the bi.  The bi issue alone is REALLY a distraction and is going to cause a lot of talking and controversy. I think it will be hard for judging to overlook.

I've attained a level of True Schmoedom never before realized.

Sitting at home on a Saturday night, eating Papa Johns in a Bobybuilding.com cut off T-shirt that hides my milky white breasts, sipping out of a 2 Liter of Diet Sunkist Soda, monitoring a GetBig thread I started on Jay Cutler's alleged synthol use at the Olympia, typing epic run-on sentences and monitoring said Olympia's subpar journalistic coverage at Flexonline.

A Cosmic Consciousnesses Pinnacle Point. A culmination of years of hard work and self exploration. I am now a truly enlightened being - pure, white hot energy.

I just got off the phone with Hany Rambod. Jay tore his bicep lifting a 250lb dumbell for a Schiek photoshoot.

My predictions...

1) Heath
2) Jay (Kai)
3) Kai (Jay)
4) Vic (could be his all time best, def best since 2007)
5) Wolf
6) Dexter (he looked bad tonight, getting old, just had no "pop", not as sharp)

Jay BLEW it this year but he had tightened up a bit since prejudging. Still, he could slip to third.  Oddly enough, the "strange" left bicep almost looked bigger (skin seemed tighter) and fuller than it did in prejudging, need to see still shots.

In other news, I ate 3000 calories of Papa Johns while performing my in depth Olympia coverage and analysis.  I think my Dog got loose and ran away too but I really couldn't be bothered with that tonight.

Standing relaxed, fair arguement for a bruise because of the discolouration. Hitting a front double biceps, clearly synthol/SEO injection because of the changing shape in his biceps. No bruise changes your biceps shape like that. A tear can give it more of a peak due to the muscle shortening but it looks too full to be torn. My guess is that when it came to crunch time, he got scared by Phil's freaky arms and tried something different. It worked as far as the changing shape but it left a clear synthol/SEO dark discolouration (that we've all seen on various pros) that may end up costing him the competition.

was this the worst shape jay has ever brought to the stage? what about his loss to dexter in 08?.... were both just bad timing and wrong last minute adjustments... or that was the case in 08.. but now in 2011... it's just cutler's age and body breaking down?... don't know if this is the case though... i mean didn't jay look incredible just 2 weeks or so ago?....

has anyone questioned cutler has to why besides the messed up bicep everything else was off? waist... legs..... back.....

jay beat heath last year... so how much was jay off this year and how much did phil improve...

don't think cutler is done yet... i'm sure he wants to go out on top... besides, who wants the student beating the teacher as their last impression with the bb fans and bb world?!
