Ron, sticky this!
With just 2 events of the qualifying rounds left, here are the unofficial scores so far; more to come as it unfolds. The final is due to occur next Wednesday and Thursday.
The British guys are having a great comp; it looks like the top spots in the final will be an IMMENSE battle between the following huge names: Brian Shaw (US), Derek Poundstone (US), Big Loz Shahlaei (UK), Terry Hollands (UK), Zydrunas Savickas (Lithuania) and Mark Felix (UK)
With Vytautas Lalas, Jack McIntosh and Ervin Katona also blazing the heats, this years WSM is slated to be the best of all time; that cannot be understated here, its fucking immense!!
Travis Ortmyer has dropped out injured.
Just for context, both Lalas and Shahlaei have squatted 300KG/660lb for 10; Shahlaei has also done 250KG/550lb for sixteen!!
As said, two events of the qualifier heats are left, but here are the scores so far:

To emphasize the above point, this years WSM features AT LEAST four 900lb deadlifters:
Zydrunas Savickas:
Terry Hollands:
Brian Shaw:
Laurence Shahlaei:
With guys like Jack McIntosh and Derek Poundstone also in there (Mcintosh is a 400kg deadlifter, and I think Derek is likewise?) the final is going ot be BRUTAL.

No kidding. These "those guys are fat" fools really need to educate themselves.
Fact is, these guys are world-class athletes who are SO physically superior to the average bodybuilder it's not even worth comparison. Not to mention they could destroy any number of MMA/UFC championship "warriors" without much effort at all.
It must be difficult for the ego when tiny tits witness actual men.

Agreed! These guys are not worried if they can fit into a thong. You need mass to move heavy things....Dr Fist's new trainer is huge-photo to come...
STAY POSITIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't care about the World's Strongest Man because it's so hard to get any footage until months later.
I've always been a fan of Strongman comps .. it's a human feat that is unmatched .. bodybuilding is based on appearance not performance .. it's a pageant not a competition
-
mariuz has only lost one fight since i checked and that was to tim silva who beat fedor and used to be a champ and he fought decent in it
He has fought complete cans and Sylvia is washed up and tooled him...and he didn't beat Fedor.
3 wins and two losses against that level of comp is nothing great.
-
Proper sport right there - proper competition and not subjective like bodybuilding.
Shame we have to wait until late December/early January to watch the WSM on TV here in the UK.
-
They should put far more coverage of strongman events on tv.

It is a shame .. I remember anticipating the show .. I have no clue what drove the decision to pull the shows from being broadcast live .. whatever it was .. was ridiculous
these guys are incredible to watch
it will be a six hour program on ESPN in December here ... then ESPN2 will show it early next year internationally
-
strongman competitors are shit compared to top level bodybuilders and top level olympic lifters
the first blow them away in terms of look, the second blow them away in performance
strongman is just a huge fat guy lifting stones
who the fuck wants to see that, most of the events look silly and their morbid obesity makes it hard to look at
this is an athlete I have tremendous respect for
and even the fat guys look impressive in olympic lifting because it's actually spectacular to watch, not silly like lifting kegs
-
Quite obvious purenaturalweakness is a schmoe.
Carry on.

These guys are just true freaks of nature - you'd think being that height would hinder their squatting and deadlifting abilities but no, far from it.
-
Lawrence Shahlaei has just posted this on his facebook page, keep in mind he is 6"2`,gives you an idea of how big Brian Shaw is.
DAMN! :o
I haven't seen recent stuff but Shaw's seems to be getting better and better the fatter he gets. He's gone from arelatively normal sized head to having one approaching Wong Hong size. If that's possible.
Where's Ortmeyer? I noticed his name missing from the list of competitors. Always been a fan of the guy.
-
Think Ortmayer got injured halfway through,Britain has Loz and Terry Hollands in the final that starts on wednesday.I think it might finish either Zadrunas or Shaw, then Poundstone or Loz in third.I suppose we`ll have to wait till christmas to see it on tv.
-
The heats are over; the finalists for the 2011 "Met-RX Worlds Strongest Man" competition are:
- Brian Shaw (US) 6'8" 460lbs - lovely guy, loves his gear; dead pool contender.
- Thor Bjornsson (Iceland) 6'9" 420lbs - as with Shaw, Thor exhibits a bodyweight in KG that matches the figure of his waking glucose level!
- Ervin Katona (Serbia) 6'1" 340lbs
- Laurence Shahlaei (UK) 6'2" 340lbs
- Terry Hollands (UK) 6'6" 410lbs - 5 grams per week, as above.
- Vytautas Lalas (Lithuania) 5'10" 300lbs
- Zydrunas Savickas (Lithuania) 6'3" 375lbs - how long can the guys heart take it? as with Shaw, a possible pre-2020 expiration!
- Mike Jenkins (US) classified
- Derek Poundstone (US) 6'1" 340lbs - a bit of a dick; GH lover, dead pool contender (fingers crossed)
- Stefan Solvi Petursson (Iceland) 6'5" 340lbs
A TOTALLY bad ass line up; fucking mental no less!
This is a stronger line up than 1994 when Magnusson, Kiri, Badenhorst, Hoeberl and Taylor clashed!
There is a kewl "US vs UK vs Lithuania" thing going on too.
Fingers crossed the steroid taking lying bastard and American cop "Dickhead Prickstone" doesn't have a heart attack or something ghastly; that would be terrible, unfortunate and something nobody would ever want to see...
Side bets are being taken on whether or not Brian Shaw's head will grow to the size of a 42" plasma telly before the day of final?
Seriously though, this is THE comp to watch!!
-
OK, the final starts today (21st) and is contested over two days, finishing tomorrow!
It should be fucking MENTAL!!
Hey Adonis and others in the NC locale, why not shoot over to the venue (Wingate University N.C) and get some content for the Getbiggers:

Brian Shaw lifted a 255lb dumbell :o :o :o
Day 4 Update
Tension was high on the final day of the qualifiers, as WSM returned to Wingate University to determine who the ten finalists would be. With a number of groups being closely fought affairs, it was always going to come down to the Atlas Stones to settle affairs. There were three events in total; Giant Dumbbell Press Medley, the Metal Block Press Medley and the Atlas Stones to close out the day.
First up were groups 1 and 2 who were faced with the four huge dumbbells. The weight of the first was 220lbs, followed by 230, 245 and finally, 255lbs. In group 1, Bjornsson carried on his good run and got three of the four DBs. For Brian Shaw, it was all too easy though, and he lifted the 255lb implement, the only competitor of the day to manage it. In Group 2, young Romanian debutant Paul Pirjol managed two of the implements, but Laurence Shahlaei outdid him by lifting the third.
For groups 3,4 and 5, their first event of the day was the Metal Block Press. As with the dumbbells, there were four blocks to be lifted in ascending order. They ranged from 245 to 330lbs, with a 265 and a 290 block in between. Vytautas Lalas, Jason Bergmann and Mateusz Baron each lifted the third block, with Lalas extending his lead in the group overall.
Group 4 saw strength in depth, with five competitors lifting three blocks, but Zydrunas Savickas came out on top, managing an impressive four out of four.
Derek Poundstone stood out in group 5, lifting every block with relative ease.
Going into the Atlas Stones in late afternoon, the scene was set for qualification battles in each group.
Group 1 with Brian Shaw safely through to the final, it came down to a shootout between Mark Felix and Thor Bjornsson. It was the Icelander who came out on top in the head to head between the two men and he progressed to the final.
Group 2 Laurence Shahlaei went through in first place, but behind him Ervin Katona and Espen Aune were in a two way struggle for second spot. Katonas performance in the Stones was enough to see him take coveted spot.
Group 3- Lithuanian Vytautas Lalas qualified in first but behind him Terry Hollands and Martin Wildauer were pushing for the remaining spot. It was Hollands who qualified, making his sixth consecutive WSM final, after putting up all five Stones, to the Austrians two.
Group 4 Zydrunas Savickas was joined in final by Mike Jenkins, who was having a debut to remember. Jenkins was involved in a thrilling Stone race with LPJ with both putting up five Stones. However, it was not enough for the Canadian to make the final and Jenkins qualified at the first attempt.
Group 5 In the tightest of the qualifiers, Derek Poundstone made his fourth final in as many years, and he is joined by Stefan Solvi Petursson. The Icelanders reputation as a stone lifter proved to well founded as he powered through all five, and made it to his second WSM final.
This leaves our ten finalists as
Brian Shaw
Thor Bjornsson
Ervin Katona
Laurence Shahlaei
Terry Hollands
Vytautas Lalas
Zydrunas Savickas
Mike Jenkins
Derek Poundstone
Stefan Solvi Petursson
The competitors now have two days to recover before the final begins on September 21, where they will undertake three of the six events. The remaining three disciplines will take place the following day. Wingate University will again be the host for both days of the final.

It has to be said, but when looking at the tiny tits raving about the "Olympia homo fest" when this stuff is taking place, it really does speak volumes about Getbig in general LOL
you are supposedly a woman and you care about this stuff? what is wrong with you?

There looks to be a good 50 people there.
-
you are supposedly a woman and you care about this stuff? what is wrong with you?
yeah
there are never any women at these events who are interested in it ::)
you're supposedly a man
why are you interested in oiled up men wearing bikini bottoms dancing on a stage ?
-
strongman would be a lot more interesting if the competitors wore thongs and baby oil
-
Poundstone just won his heat,Katona couldn`t lift the yoke.
-
Women dig big, strong men. ;)
Keep the results coming!
Mayb we can get DaddyWaddy to swing by and show those twinks how its done. ;D
-
Terry Hollands won his heat, beat Stefan, not sure of the time though.
-
Shaw beats Savickas - should be a fast time for both of the favorites.

Mike wins the heat - both guys were fast.
-

Are you saying you like ALL of them?
Even Savickas physique? :D
There are many men who would like to be as STRONG as them, but not look like them.
Sure, some fat is unavoidable when going for strength but you don't want to look like a fat slob with your stomach-measurement bigger than your chest.

Good call.
Half Iranian, on his dads side; from Kermanshah :)

Very close with the top 3-4,looks like its Shaws to lose, but Big Zed has got a good deadlift and good log press. This will go right to the final event on the stones and i can see Shaw beating Zed on that event.
-
Good call.
Half Iranian, on his dads side; from Kermanshah :)
That's cool, gotta let my dad know he loves knowing about iranian athletes and bragging about them whenever wherever.
-
HOLY SHIT THIS IS EPIC!!!
Day two has started, the deadlift event has just been completed and here are the results; just look at these numbers, fucking insane:
Deadlift:
Savickas - 442KG (new record)
Brian Shaw - 432KG
Terry Hollands - 432KG
Loz Shahlaei - 415KG
Derek Poundstone - 415KG
Lalas - 400KG
Hafthor/Petursson/Katona/Jenkins 370k
Which means, with two events to go (log lift and Atlas Stones) the WSM leaderboard looks like this:
Brian Shaw (USA) - 33.5
Zydrunas Savikas (LITH) - 30
Terry Hollands (UK) - 28.5
Loz Shahlaei (UK) - 28.5
Mike Jenkins (USA) - 26.5
Derek Poundstone (USA) - 19.5
Hafthor - 16.5
Lalas - 16
Solvi - 13.5
Katona - 6.5
This is not only the most competitive WSM of all time, it is also the strongest... it's pissing the days of Kazmier!

Beat me to it W8M8,just read that Jenkins injured on deadlift so that could be good news for Terry and Loz.

I think the next event is the log lift for reps, and begins either this hour or next?

Its been raining, but should start in 15 mins, and Jenkins looks in pain warming up for log lift.If Big zed wins this, which he should,it depends how many come between him and Shaw, but its gonna be an incredible finish on the stones.
-
Stefan - first to go on the log: 2 reps. Lalas and Hafthor next.
7 for Lalas, 3 for Hafthor.
Jenkins has pulled out!!
-
Big performance - 7 reps for Derek.
-
Gayer than caring what another man looks like.

You must be one of those twinks that "isolates" and "feels" the muscle working.
Are you suggesting that Kwon_2 centers his/her workouts around developing the mind-muscle connection?

where are you bloody watching this? sky?

This huge: Brian and Zydrunas are tied going into the last event

Yeah, its going to be a crazy finish to this years comp; it will make great telly thats for sure!
I hope Big Z pulls it off, it will be EPIC seeing him take three WSM titles (thus matching Kazmier) to which he can add his SIX Arnold Classic Strongman wins thus solidifying him as the GREATEST strongman to have ever walked the face of the earth, far better than Kaz etc.
Lets just hope Brian Shaw doesn't get AIDs or something prior to the final event!! It could happen though, we only have to remember last years WSM final wherein Shaw - as a result of intense diarrhea - ballsed up the final event, thus losing to Savickas by a split point!
-
In a head to head on the stones Shaw should win going on previous, but would like Zed to retain his title, and we should have a Brit on the podium this year.
The "nostalgia" part of me still looks at Kaz has being the all time best, guess i`m still stuck in the 80s and think i`m still 18,lol.
-
Lets just fucking repeat this:
BIG Z JUST DID TEN ALMIGHTY FUCKING REPS WITH A 160KG LOG RIGHT AFTER PULLING A 442KG/972lb DEADLIFT!!!
LOL, thats just unheard of, I mean christ, its almost disgusting!!! LOL
So, the top four Leaderboard going into the final event looks like this:
Big Zydrunas (Lithuania) - 40
Brian Shaw (USA) - 40
Terry Hollands (UK) - 35
Laurnece Shahlaei (UK) - 33.5
It's going to be a fantastic contest on the Atlas Stones!!

A race to the podium is upon us!!!
-
Hows this for a bit of "conspiracy theory" kind of thinking.....Jenkins pulls out because of injury, and he`s great on the log press, meaning Shaw got an extra placing (extra point),in that event,Both Shaw and Jenkins are American, and the contest is in America.Could this have been one "team mate" helping another.

I agree, although to be honest, I thought we might see similar tactics (still might?) from Big Z's Lithuanian team mate Vytautas Lalas.
But yeah, Brian Shaw is clearly an assclown of the highest order and such tactics are not beyond him.
Hell, he probably supplies Jenkins with HGH, Steroids and Cocaine, and has thus offered him a goodly discount in return for a timely "pulling out".
Pair of bastards LOL
-
Latest from twitter,
Mike Jenkins said that he hurt his back on the deadlift and couldn't get the log to his shoulders - very disappointed that unable to finish.

ANY MOMENT NOW FOLKS, ANY MOMENT NOW!!

Terry Hollands on the podium, 3rd place (I think LOL)
Shaw and Big Z to go next on the stones, who will win the title???
-
BRIAN SHAW WINS!!
-
W8M8, Do we know if that is official?
If so, thanks for the info, way ahead of other sites...
I like big Z, but I think he's had his day, time for the young bull to take over from the master...
-
It's official, top 4
Shaw
Z
Hollands
Loz
-
ever noticed the commentator from channel 5 takes every opportunity he can to cop a feel of these guys when he's interviewing them? very unprofessional indeed

He is a true beast.

Nobody went to check the event out? There are half a dozen getbiggers that we know of in NC and not a single one was close enough to drive over?

I just sit and laugh when Big Z steps up to the log press. I was watching an old event the other week. Might have been WSM 2010 and it came down to Z and Koklyaev. Z was just ridiculous. Even at 405 he was making it look like a walk in the park.
Disappointed Brian Shaw pipped him at the post.
P.S. Which is bigger- an Atlas Stone or Brian Shaw's head?
