While there have been physiques that have surpassed Haney from other eras, consistantly Haney is better than Ronnie, better than Yates or anyone else.
Name a flaw on Haney based on his last time on stage competing (91 O).
Width....check... ;D....since this is like the (glutes) of 00s
Size....check
Conditioning....check
Symmetry and Proportion....check
Posing....check
Some have said his arms and or legs were a bit too small...watch the included videos and view the included pictures...they were proportioned. If anything, the guys today legs much too large.
We all know of the Mr. Os that won 4 or more probably didnt deserve every one. BUT, IMO, Haney deserved more of his wins than Ronnie or Yates. These two have shown up looking less than Olympian at times...Yates 94, 97 Ronnie 02, 04...In addition because of the injuries Yates sustained and the way Ronnie changed his body from perfection in 98 and 99 to nasty mutant in 03 ( and in this case nasty mutant isnt good as he lost separation and dryness, his shoulder to waist taper disappeared all at the cost of added size). Even Peter McGough former Editor of FLEX Mag questioned the move.
Haney continues to fly under the radar, constantly underrated but really according to the IFBB ideal is the best Mr. O ever...what Ronnie doesnt have...calves, abs and posing...Haney had. What Yates didnt have, two arms :D, and taper, Haney had and what Arnold didnt have, dryness...Haney had.
Haney is the best ever overall. Better than Ronnie, Arnold and Yates...

Haney was one of my favorites of all-time , when I started lifting in 1986 he was the reigning Mr Olympia and he was as good as it got. But best of all-time? nope he could have improved and been much better though

For me he is the end of the line of guys that actually managed to look muscular but also aesthetic. People like Reeves, Zane and Nubret. The bloated, oil-filled sacks of shit of today are hypnotic and funny -- as in funny haha, you're a clown to amuse me - to watch but those guys are the guys I think made bodybuilding something a bit more highbrow than the modern day Chippendales chemical experiment stuff it is now.

The photo in the jeans on the street is a great shot.
Lee gets overlooked, but he really was great. He was huge, but still maintained decent lines. Also, there was a ruggedness(for lack of a better term) to his build that you don't see much after the early 90's. It's the look like Sipes, Pearl, Mentzer, etc.... all had.

Lee is very, very underrated. He was the first 8x Mr Olympia beating Arnold's record.
He improved every Olympia and his conditioning was always fantastic. His last year was exceptional.
Great chest, awesome lats, one of the best backs, and the best v-taper. His symmetry was very good.
He is definitely one of the best. 8)

Lee Haney was all Sust everyday, deca, Trenbolone and anadrol very long stretches and halotestin thats what his favorite drugs were. thats all the AAS he used im not sure about exotics but I know for sure those are the only AAS he always cycled. he loved anadrol and trenbolone! and his daily sust shot. and he also loved his deca.and halotestin closer to game time.I have seen haney off-season once just massive and lean! similar to ronnie but not quite as drugeed up on new age drugs like ronnie was.

Defendantly one of the Best.... with 8 MR Olympias History has secured him of that, when i started Lifting in the late 1980s most people @ the gyms would say....Nah hes not better than Arnold....never will be cause his "Arms" are crap and imo more or less the same is true now for the average gym rat its about the "arms".....His biceps IMO were never a strong point however his all round balance was Exceptional for the era and his Size with Conditioning in 1984, 1986 and 1991 was Excellent, then along came Yates and took things to another Dimension in the Outright massive size and Conditioning Department ether way Lee was one of History's best...Take a look @ the Lines and his Conditioning of the Bottom picture and Remember that was 26 years ago @ over 240lbs

Lees Musicality in the Conventional MM was Excellent....20 odd years down the Track looking @ the last 3 MR Os Cutler and Heaths Musicality in that Version of the mm is found wanting, Dexter had that Shot down-pat excellent Condition, ripped, etc although Haney outweighed him in Raw muscle mass bye @ least 20lbs shot on the left 1991 the other 1989 in Italy.

Bodybuilding "jumped the shark" after Haney. I'm glad he quit when he did. He supposedly couldn't believe the amounts of drugs guys like Dorian and others were willing to use to try to get his title. Bowing out at 31years old says it all. True champion. The true Champion.

Flex in 1993 @ the Ironman or A/C yip i agree i doubt even Haney @ his absolute best could of beaten that Flex however with all things we will never know.........However its Obvious Flex had a good amount of oil in his Biceps and shoulders from 98-99 onwards, His back was even better than Haneys @ his best and thats no easy feat (just take a look @ it @ the 98 ironman clip :o :o :o his backs shape, Detail and Muscularity was on another planet) along with the Quad flare etc, its incredible Flex never won even ONE Mr Olympia back in the 90s, however when you look @ the Depth of the Guys back then with Dorian, Ronnie, Cormier, Ray, Levrone, Labrada, Dillet, Francis, Nasser, Taylor etc etc he really needed to nail it 100% on the day at The Mr Olympia contest....he never did unfortunately. I don't think it's fair to compare bodybuilders from different generations because, like all things, it evolves and standards change. A fairer question would be: Who was the most dominate in his era? And that would easily be Arnold during his reign (I don't count 1980 because he was a part time bodybuilder and his comeback seemed more like a publicity stunt). Dorian had some real competition and many of them were close if not an outright gifts. There were a couple of close calls for Coleman. Not with Arnold. In his time nobody was close to him on the Olympia stage after he beat Sergio. Not on the Olympia stage. His closest rivals at that time was Ferrigno, Nubret, Zane and Franco and they just weren't in his league.

Not nearly as great as the Oak, but far better aesthetically than his Olympia "equal", Coleslaw. He is also a gentleman and there's a lot to be said for that.
Arnold may well be the Alpha, but give his life choices (i.e., no scandals that we know of, and apparently a good family man) Lee being a gentleman would be the Omega in this equation.
Coleslaw is a fucktard faux christian so full of shit that he'd be whiter than Michael Jackson if all that crap were removed from his system. He's not worthy of mention save in derision.

Yes, Arnold was and is more than just a bodybuilder but he is nowhere near Reagan. And he should never be President of our nation. Never. He's a RINO. A lying sack of shit that is conservative when it suits his needs and while that is so often the case among politicians, we are discusing Arnold here and no other politicians.

arnold has a place above them all as the father of bodybuilding,, arnold place has nothing to do with size,, or with condition or with anything concernign physiqe,, he was one of the best bodybuilders ever ofcourse,, the best individual body parts,, but what arnold place in history will be is ,,

arnold is something above competetive bodybuilding,, he was never meant to stop in bodybuilding ,, bodybuilding was his love but it was one step in many steps that lead him to becoming one of the great figures of the 20 and 21 centurys when it comes to sport and culture,, he is not as important as reagan or fdr...but he is right up there in the most important figures of the 20th and 21th centurys ,, and will remember as such
when ron colman pass on ,, when lee hainey pass on ,, when dorian pass on ,, it will just be another day on earth ...
it wont be another day on earth when arnold pass on ,, it wil be a very very sad day ,, with lots of programs on tv and he will be thought in schools,, he is truly historical figure with all the problems with cheating ,, that wont take a thing from what he has done and contributeed to humanity ,,

When I was a kid I use to take the almost hour and a half bus ride after school to go to Wing Chun class held in a school cafeteria given by a former student of Bruce Lee, James Demile. I use to walk by this magazine shop on my way to class. They had a bunch of magazines on display that you could see through the windows. The had a muscle mags too but I didn't really pay that much attention to it. Until they had this one cover. It just stopped me mid stride and I turned and just stared at it with awe and fascination. This guy was way different than anybody else on the dozens of covers I had seen previously throughout the year and a half I was training at that school. It was like from another world. That's what I wanted to be like.
Nowadays it's no big thing. Kids today are jaded and nothing phases them anymore. You can have a row of mags with women on the cover flashing their tits, giving blow jobs, getting anal ... and kids today will just glance at it and keep walking. Nothing a 13 year old hasn't seen before a millions times. But to this 13 year old this was something special. As I was staring at the cover a couple of other boys about my age also stopped to see what I was staring at. One of them said to me, "Wow! Who is that? He's huge! I want to be like that!" I just said, "I don't know. But I want to be like that, too."
I went through my pockets and only had a dollar and twenty five cents in quarters. I would need fifty cents to get back home so I couldn't buy the magazine. When I came back the next week with enough money it was already gone but I never forgot the cover.

See this is a tricky question because there is a difference between the Greatest Bodybuilder and the greatest physique , Arnold has done so much for bodybuilding and he set the bar on 7 Olympias , 5 Mr Universes for others to try and beat etc and his fame etc , one can make a case for him being the best ever , but Ronnie is technically the Greatest bodybuilder because he tied Haney with the most Olympia wins and the most pro wins etc , the best physique is another slippery slope because of different eras and such
Agreed - it's hard to make a case against Arnold for best/greatest bodybuilder of all time.
Taking all the possible factors into account, i.e., most Olympia wins, most pro wins, most wins unbeaten, fewest losses, etc, for me it's a close call between Arnold, Ronnie, Haney, and Dorian. Almost impossible to separate them.

Lee didn't have anything that stood out, but as a whole physique, he was AWESOME. TotaLee awesome.
Plus, as has been said, the man is a fine man. I have shared dinner with him and he is classy, friendly and intelligent.
Whether he is the best is a matter of opinion. But without question is his superiority amongst a vast majority of bodybuilders who have competed as professionals in the IFBB.
I'd rank him as one of the O's greatest titleholders, no doubt.
In many ways, top level bodybuilding has only gotten worse since Lee's reign. The man carried a lot of muscle and presented it with desirable aesthetics. When you consider the limitations of what he likely took in comparison to what guys do today, he is remarkable.

Lee's Back in person is what really separated him from anyone in the line up. When Lee turned around, it was easy to see why he won all those Olympia's. The man was massive in person. Sometimes pictures really don't do him justice because he was so balanced. Dorian followed suit when he turned around on stage it was lights out and of course when Ronnie turned around it was all over. Today's Olympia's not so much.

imo haney was the only guy who won the olympia more than 4 times and deserved all his wins!!..
i am not sure about arnold because i didnt see enough pics./videos of his contests to make a personal opinion but many ppl believe he was not the best on stage in one or 2 years.. but still i am excluding him here as i have not made an opinion..
dorian didnt deserve to win his last 2 olympias..
ronnie for me deserved to win 4-5 times maximum and some of them because he didnt face real competition!!.. he didnt win in a convincing way except 3 times, and they are of course 98, 99, and, 2003..
jay didnt deserve to win in 2007 for sure and may be 2010 too..

That picture of Lee is from the 1985 MR O where he weighed (give or take a pound) 245lbs, Ronnie believe it or not was in the same range (@ that stage 1998) as Haney in between 240-248lbs
