Shit man I'm making that my new wall paper, I'm genuinely inspired. HRT is a wonderful thing.

He must have lost his hair young because I have never seen a pic of him with hair.
-
He's great in Frasier!

He's great in Frasier!
That's pretty funnah...
-
Hell, I remember Clarence Bass from back in the 1980s. He was bald and old back then, too. Lost a bit a muscle but really hasn't changed much. I wonder how much hgh and test he's on for his HRT?
-
He should do the Master Nationals and get his pro card.
-
He looks great.
-
Looks good for his age, but the Japanese 75 year old blow him away.

honestly i would rather be fat and happy at age 71 than torture myself over and over to be "ripped" if being ripped menas nothing than just ripped ugly old man
past 60 nobody looks good no matter how lean and muscular he is
past 60 the only thing that counts is health and fun, and beeing that lean isn t healthy either (at nay age)

I think for this guy it really is a way of life
its his version of "fat and happy", he's been constantly ripped for many decades, it's normal now

I look forward to you joining me in my misery. Mark Twain once said that it would be better if we started out old and grew young.

Mark Twain ripped that off of that movie Benjamin Button. Doesn't this Twain fella have any originality? ::)

I always like seeing all the 20 something personal trainers in the gym. From my view it's really hard not to be in shape in your twenties. So me a woman or guy in shape in their 50's without a chemical assist and I will listen to what they have to say about training. I'm not going to listen to some kid who took a personal trainer course on the internet tell me how to train.

We all do. It's inevitable bud.
Unless you are intentionally trying to kill yourself, you'd better get used to it. I can promise you this: If you are into bodybuilding now, you will be then also. It's not like you wake up one day and say "Oh, I'm old, I better quit staying in shape, I want to be a fat pig now..."
Sometimes it is more of a "Fountain of Youth" type of thing. If you've been doing it your whole life, why would you stop?
You look around and all you see are fat, unhealthy older (and damn old) men with saggy man boobs and big ass bellies... If you can maintain a 6 pack (even in your late forties) you have already risen WAAAAAAY above the norm.
-
yes i do know that i always want to keep on training, staying as young as possible. a beer belly no way.
-
Clarence is an amazing guy. LIVES in this condition year round and has done since the 1970's!!!!
Get his books, they are fantastic.
His website is www.cbass.com and is full of incredible info. I check it out every month.

Dude a got pretty fucked up view on aging, once you hit thirty your body really starts getting shitty. Your energy levels are gonna plummit as you get older.

And when you think about it, considering your body starts to decline perceptibly by around 35 years old, and considering how long people live nowadays, and it's seems like it's going to get even longer; you are pretty much "old" for most of your years here on earth.
Tito will change with the begrudging bitterness we all get as the years wear on. Or maybe just kill himself.
-
I thought this thread said 'raped at 71'...and I clicked on it, what the fuck does that say about me :-X

I've got the whole "Ripped" series. They are pretty good, I just wish he were a tad bigger (for my own inspiration)
He's big on cardio/aerobics and HUGE on eating all natural/organic foods.
I like that he lists all the healthy snacks. That's one of my favorite parts of the series. You can't just eat the same shit ALL THE TIME. It makes you insane.
I think I'm gonna add a little more muscle to him... and maybe a goatee... I know he can look cooler than that Bozo the Clown hair.
He's kind of a funky dude when it comes to dressing up. Funky hats n' shit. Oh well. Shredded for life, no doubt.

Old dudes DONT HAVE TO BE OUT OF SHAPE!
People are just lazy. There's quite a few "old dudes" at my gym that have six pack abs. Granted, they aren't huge, but they don't look like 300 lb. blobs of chewed up bubblegum either.
-
Hang up the thong ::) ::) ;D
Looks great for his age tho

hey uberman! :D you know, I think in the beginning people lift to impress others. As time goes on, and you been doing this your whole life, it becomes more of a habit than impressing others, ya know. Its just something you do. As I said, humans are creatures of habit. We dont like change.
-
great..but who fucking cares . Beside you and your woman i mean. To impress others people and show them how better than them you are?
Seriously? You think the only folks with abs compete? Or just show off?
It's an achievement. An accomplishment. The realization of a goal. It's feeling good about yourself. It's knowing that you are not of the obese majority in this nation. So many variables.
Whether or not you show your abs to others is your own damn business.
Kids...
There are such things as "subjectivity" in this world... you do realize that, don't you?

why do you care about the muscular legs of another man that much?
As I'm browsing through the threads on the is board I often come across your posts and it's pretty much 1 of 2 themes. 1. How we are all fucked up or not becuase of our parents. And theres nothing we can do about. Are choices are not as a result of free will but how we were raised.
2. HOw you ridicule everything about bodybuilding and everyone who participates in it.
I dont want to get into the first point but in regard to the second. Please answer this very sincere question because I really want toknow and I'm sure others do as well.
Why are you here?
This is a bodybuilding board where we try to build and sculpt or physiques. Why we like to do this or care is a separate topic entirely. You can ask that about anything. Why someone likes expenssive cars. Why they like to hit a hard white ball across a huge beautiful lawn. Why they like to drop metal plates from 1000 yards out with a 50 caliber. Why they like to practice fighting other men.... it goes on an on. We like to build and tone our bodies. Trim the fat so our muscles show more. For me it's visually pleasing when I see me or someone else with a lean body and developed muscles. For mean it connotes strenght and fitness. Something I happen to admire and find visually pleaseing. I don't know why. Just like I prefer slender women over the voluptuous ones like that Paker guy does. Its just what we like .
Maintaining a lean muscular physique, one where your abs are visible, especially for someone over forty is quite an achievement. I read that only 7% of the male population over 18 years old has visible abs and that number drops fast as the years increase. To me it's asethetically pleaseing to see a set of washboard abs on a man, and on myself moreso, than a layer of flab let alone a pop belly. I work to hard to try and get them. And it's not because I want to lift my shirt and flash a six pack, something I have never done even when I had abs. It's because its just something I prefer to a flabby gut. And it doesn make me look better when I have to tuck in my shirt to not have a pot belly spilling over. but I guess that makes me a narcissist because I want to look better. I should have never had braces or bother combing my hair becaue I dont want to seem like Im trying toimpress others.
We care about Platz legs because as bodybuilders his were exceptionally developed and conditioned. It's what bodybuilders strive for. We all understand that bodybuidling isn't for everyone. Not everyone, probably the vast majority, appreciate the devellopment of Platz's legs and don't even find it visually pleasing. Just like I don't understand the appeal of tattoos, spending 10 grand on a watch, why any would want to run 26 miles.... but different strokes for different folks.
There is obviously nothing you like about bodybuilding as all you do is ridicule it. So again I ask wtih genuine sincerity and interest
Why are you here?
What did YOUR parents do to you that you feel so compelled to be on a board whose main subject you despise and ridicule and put others down? Is it "To impress others people and show them how better than them you are?"
Please. Seriously. Answer this question. Maybe you can teach me something.

Dude looks exactly the same at 71 years old that he did at 42.
His face looks like a mean ass school principal who dishes out "licks" every day for insubordination.

I'm going to start juicing at 60 yo , dead by 65 .
-
Uberman owned badly even without any insults, just questions.
He likes to come here and tell everyone how meaningless life is and how stupid everyone here are etc, but why? Why would he want to do such a thing? So he can feel good about himself, so he can give someone a lecture about life and feel superior to others, the exact same thing he is condemning all the time. Nietzsche would turn in his grave, change your nick. You are not Uberman.
-

May as well start smoking and shooting heroin at 63 while you're at it (in your *home gym*) ;D
-
I think you can look great at 70, but you would have the discipline and sacrifice to get there from age 40...
-
Al Beckles is either 81 or 73, he says he was born 1930, others claim 1938
Anyone know what he looks like now?
last competed in niagara pro '92, placed 8th, previous year won it by beating sonny schmidt ,terwilliger ,milos and henderson thorne

Look at you, being all perceptive and all.
Uberman seems like a very intelligent, well read, thoughtful person with a lot of insights on life. But he does seem very unhappy and bitter. And I do often wonder why on earth he is on a bodybuilding board. It is by nature, by definition almost, a self-absorbed and narcissistic endeavor -- varying only in degrees. This is not in and of itself bad. Depends how far you take it. All of life is a matter of degrees. What's wrong with wanting to look better and feel better? Even if you have to take hormones -- something produced naturally in your body? He obviously doesn't like it. I understand. There's a lot of things I don't like but I learned from a very early age that this world wasn't created solely to make me feel good. If a person does something that helps fulfill his life, make it more satisfying, gives him a sense of self-worth -- whether it be having a nice house, car, clothes or physique -- what's the point of over analyzing it and putting it down? What do you do, Uber, to make your life fulfilling and give you a sense of self-worth and why do you think it's better than exercise and getting in and staying in good physical shape? And don't say raising a family. Many do so here quite successfully and still bodybuild.
I think it's a fair an honest question Uber, why are you here on a bodybuilding board?
"The feebler the body, the more it rules: the stronger, the more it obeys."
--- Jean Jacques Rousseau, Emile Book 1.

LOL! I know you're not 12. You don't look even close to being 12. Hell you have the physique of a strapping 16 yo -- maybe even 17 when bulking.
You have my respect. You know that.

Clarence Bass is what true bodybuilding is all about. He LIVES it day in, day out ... His books and web site are a a bodybuilding bible.
This is another pic at 70 years old.
He is 75 this year and planning another phot shoot!
-
Whats the point looking like that at that age.

What??? Typical teenage answer.
If you are lucky enough to get old, why not be in this kind of shape? You will learn. Time goes very quickly. I first bought Clarence's book when he was 41 and I was a teenager. Now I'm 41. Seems like a year ago!

What's the point of looking like that at any age? You think it would be better to just be a fat slob?
How old are you?
-
What ahppened to uberman? Hes always asking us to explain ourselves. Why we want washboard abs? What did platz do to get such tremendous quads? Why we care about scupting our physique.
But I guess when it comes to him explianing himself. Why does he always put us and bodybuilding down. If he looks donw on it so much why is here on a bodybuilding board?
-

Who wouldn't want to be in this kind of shape at pensioner age?! Better than any alternative.
-
Who wouldn't want to be in this kind of shape at pensioner age?! Better than any alternative.
My guess is the person who said that is quite young and bodybuilds mostly to impress others (young girls). The idea of being in great shape for it's own sake -- the intrinsic reward of being strong, robust, healthy, and looking better -- especially at an advance age where it gets exponentially difficult, is a strange and foreign concept. If you can't lift up your shirt every five minutes to flash your abs or strut around on the beach on spring break flexing and posing then why bother?
