Boring...
Looks just like every other BMW i see on the road. Style really is boring to me.
Granted they have good engines but everyone i know who owns a BMW is plagued with maintenance issues.

that's why 4/50,000 on both ends is needed and then 2 yr to 100,000 if u can afford it .so 6 yrs free maint, repairs ,just pay for tires,or once cpo just pay for patrs not covered, radio's,suspension stuff,,,,

The BMW M5 from it's inception yrs ago, was never meant to "standout". It was the original Wolf's in sheep's (business attire) clothing. Beating Porsches on the autobahn. And they must keep to it.
Besides, what BMW do you see on the roads everyday with quad exhausts, bulging fenders, 20 inch rims, huge drilled brakes, blue brake calipers, huge front airdams? The styling must remain subdued, yet give a hint of what is under-neath. Also, since the E39 I think, all M5s, tend to have a just a tad more body work cues than a M-sport (bodykit).

I get that and they have upped the quality of their warranty. It is just that, none of that matters if it breaks down on your way somewhere.
Any car, no matter how good the warranty is, sucks if it causes the owner constant hassles by taking it in and out of the shop.
That is the life i know of friends who own BMW. Most say they will never buy another one.

Everything you just said are..to me.. very subtle details. Granted it does look different like the M3 from a normal 3 series but still very very similar in overall style, which i find very boring. You hit it on the head as ....not being a standout car. Sure you have a few little details here and there but you take that car and 20 other BMWs of the 3-5 series and they all look very similar side by side
Isn't this car close to $100k?
For that price point i want a car to stick out.
Give me one of the new Jags for that price point. Their recent re-designs have really impressed me lately.

The car's engine will be a nightmare to fix...it is overly complicated for a TT V8...
I will link a article in which a guy has a BMW guy at Frankfurt show him the engine...it's like shit goes back and forth and back forth in a circular system...
Also, BMW did the unthinkable---just as the guy in the first vid says the engine is too quiet, BMW have an option where your "fake" engine noise thru the radio...
And I don't like the "farting" sound that it makes when shifting...
Overall, there is nothing like a naturally aspirated engine...
The V10 will be missed. If you haven't driven a E60 M5, do so, it's a must...as well as the E39 M5.

too bad BMW sedans look like hyundais with BMW grills
the styling cues of the best bodystyle, the E34 5 serie, is lost on these Bangle monsters

There is a guy who owns a BMW/Porsche specialty shop less than 5 mins from me, his wife owns a e34 M5, and guess who drives it? He does...I like the onld BMW styling, and it has that slight sharknose to it...

The CTS-V beat the 2010 M5.

Can't hold a candle to a CTS-V nor the new Audi. Hell the new Jag might even beat it. Sorry BMW :-*

i would love to run one of them with the 2012 M5

Eurotrash...would only drive if its a gift and all repairs / maintenance are paid for. European cars are the 2nd worst thing to men since high maintenance girls, fall apart all the time and repairs cost a boatload cause of "premium" european parts.

So true...last BMWs I can respect were featured in Transporter / Bond Die Another day. Funny thing is after that Bond nor Transporter would bother with BMWs again. Haha

will watch later when sober.

Have you owned one? If not then stop talking. It drives like no other car! 3, 5, or 7 I would buy another one in a heartbeat. If you are the sort to worry about repairs, by the time the warranty is up it is time to get a new one anyway.
Some people enjoy wearing fancy clothes or shoes. Some enjoy big TVs. Some enjoy fancy stereo equipment. Some people derive pleasure from driving a performance automobile. That is whom BMWs are made for. Audis as well.

Agreed. I am on my second one right now. I have never had any issues with mine. I just bring them in once a year like they ask and they do whatever they do to them. This might be because I get a new one before the warranty runs out. When I do bring it in as scheduled they give me a car to use for the day. They only issue I have with the car is the M5 kit makes the car very low to the ground and the roads around here suck. I have fucked up 2 bumpers already. My fault, but they are just so low with the low profile tires.
-
I'll stick with my Vettes and Stangs.
-
I watched the Harris review. I trust his opinion.
I like this new redesign reminds me of the e39. The new e90 3series really bores me. I haven't been looking at any spy pics of the new 3'er thats coming out but hopefully theres is some difference when it comes out.

This is the new M5...the jury is still out on how it will do on the 'Ring...plus, Caddy can just turn up the boost on the detuned Zr1 engine...but then again, apparently there is a upgraded X6 M running around, so that means that the M5 may get the power upgrade, and lets not forget the 6 Series Gran Coupe M---which is essentially a sedan version of the 6---their competitor to the CLS AMGI'll stick with my Vettes and Stangs.
There was a very recent Brit comparo that pitted the M3 gainst the C63 AMG coupe, the Audi RS5 and the Mustang Bos 302....guess which one won out? But, I'm glad the Boss was included...
-
They may be sound enough cars, i know enough people who have BMW's and love them, but they're style just seems to get less impressive as time goes on. They're still not ugly like 90% of Mercs, but they used to look so much nicer.
-
The new diesel "M5" (probably with a 550d label) should be awesome too.. Almost as much power as the M5, huge torque low down and probably all wheel drive.

Thank god i have not but ride in them almost daily and am never impressed. They are very boring interior and exterior wise. Fancy they are not.
Give me a nice AMG C63 Mercedes or Audi S5 anyday.

About choice of luxury/performance sedans, there's a lot of speculation Audi has poorer build quality when the company is the hot marque, like right now, and Benz doesn't have enough personality for me, so I would go CTS-V because the amount of horsepower and options for that price is insane, and the Nurburgring stats don't lie
Corvette ZR1 engine is in the coupe and for $60k you instantly compete with basically any road car
