Yesterday I ate filet mignon with potatoes sautéed in butter with some Chateneuf-du-Pape wine, and it was the best meal I had in years. Here is what I don't understand: why does anyone use those "I can't believe it's not butter" products ??? That is basically a mixture of cheap(refined, solvent-extracted) olive oil with partially hydrogenated corn and soybean oil. They contain fatty acids like trans-oleic acid that are actually worse for your health than the saturated fats in butter, and they taste worse than the real stuf. The difference in price is about a couple Dollars per pound, so that can't be it either. If you are going to raise your blood cholesterol and increase your risk of artherosclerosis, at least do it with butter that tastes much better and will fuck your heart much slower than the trans fatty acids in partially hydrogenated vegetable oils. Maybe people who use these products are really cheap.

Translation: I splurged on the Deluxe Le Menu and baked it in the oven instead of using the microwave.

Butter costs a couple Dollars more per pound than partially hydrogenated vegetable oil, is less harmful for your health and tastes better. Why do do many people use PHVO instead of butter ???

Point of view. I love mangoes and strawberries and I think they taste delicious and they are not bad for you unless you eat 100 pounds a day and die of glycemic shock - which would not happen as you would have severe diarrhea before this happens. But the Human brain is programmed to crave calorie-dense foods as calories were scarce during our evolution and thus your brain feels pleasure when gorging on these foods. In the primitive World, gorging on these foods was followed by weeks of starvation and hours of intense physical exercise every day. So no artherosclerosis or diabetes. But in our modern World, where calories are abundant, the ability of fat and carb-rich foods to trigger dopamine release in the shell of the nucleus accumbens of the Human brain is a disaster.

Thanks, man. You are one of the last guys from the old board still posting here, and the board would be so much better if all the old posters were here and not all the bunch of noobs and trolls that registered here after 2005.

Just made some popcorn with some real melted butter. It's a nice treat once in awhile.
