Right.

All the stadiums are empty year after year.

Good 'observation'.

There's only one person to blame and that's Arod went down swigging twice when it mattered, first in the 7th with bases loaded, then the final out of the game

You might want to review 2009's post season.  One of the best individual performances by a player in the post season ever.

He still sucked in this series, though.

Then you wake up and you realize you live in Detroit and it doesn't mean shit...

Gerardi is not at all to blame.

Arod - Tex - Swish -    - none of those guys did squat at the plate

Then you wake up and you realize you live in Detroit and it doesn't mean shit...

An scruffy looking arab guy carrying a big duffel bag gets on the Detroit metro bus line.  Everyone on the bus immediately gets scared.  He sees an open seat next to a white guy and sits down.  He looks at the white guy and says " If I were you I'd get out of Detroit"  The white guy panics and asks "WHy are you going to blow up the city?" the arab replies "No, Detroit is a shithole".

Arod had a bad game, not a bad series and was coming off an injury..he'll be back
Tex didnt do shit this post season
Swish wont be here next year.

People always over analyze the division playoffs, when in reality the pitching they face is wayyyy harder than that of the reg. season.

That's pretty much it right there.

But, I don't get carrying Montero if you're not going to ever use him.  I know Posada actually deserved to be in the lineup, but Swisher/Martin could have easily been pinch hit for in a few big spots.

There's a lot luck in baseball though, especially in a short series.  Jeter's ball goes two more feet, and it's a different story.

true i forgot to flame them ...tex ,arod did same thing against texas last yr squat,,baseball in the playoffs is now hot at the right time and the underdog type player carries the team through the close wins, the yanks pound the ball all yr and have guys putting up monster numbers and then the playoffs they don't pitch or hit when needed most.posada who was left for dead all yr came through and good for him and gardner, cano, did all the hitting .

But wasnt that the exception and not the rule? Great player no doubt not Mr. October though

Sort of, but not really.  It had been overblown.  He's had a few decent series, but also took the blame a lot when there was total team failure.  It's to be expected with his salary.

Playoffs are small sample sizes where great players can appear horrible, and horrible players can get hot.  It's just the way baseball works.  As the sample size increases, most players will gravitate toward their career norms, in terms of production.

Exactly....big salaries only guarantee a good regular season record...come playoff time it's all about pitching and sometimes that doesn't get it done. Those Yankee teams that kept on winning had a lot of luck too, many memorable come from behind moments and big hits...none of that 'magic' happened last night ...at least I got my G-MEENNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!

x2, especially on the GMen.

Playoff baseball is as much about luck and timing as it is skill.  Like you said, great players will get you there when stuff normalizes over 162 games, but anything can happen in short series.  I personally think that the Division Series should be 4 out of 7 to preserve a little more integrity of the 162 games that precede it.

I agree that it should be best of 7.  Also, the regular season should be 120 games, ending in mid August.  It doesn't make any sense to have a long marathon season and then a best of 5 sprint in the playoffs.

Totally agree.  162 is just an iconic number at this point, and there's way too much revenue given up if they shortened the season.

my uncle has 4 season tix to the Los Angeles dodgers,  :'( :'( :'(.

ARod manned up and took responsibility:

“Everything this postseason is on me,” he said. “Let’s make that crystal clear. There’s no excuses for what happened these five games. I was healthy enough to do whatever I needed to do.”

The New Yawk "Chunkees" weren't goin' anywhere...I'm surprised they reached the playoffs.....the average weight of the entire roster was something like 230+ pounds......buncha old fatasses ain't running to the World Series.

But....how come Arod doesn't get a pass?  Did he not contribute quite a bit in the Yanks '09 series win?

Relax everyone. The Cards are playing as we post.

So there's still some real baseball left, at least for a while.
